  1. Lets face it, the world hasn't been a basket of dreams since 9/11. I know this is a Thai forum but so many highlight Thai problems as being exclusive to just Thailand. Many western countries are struggling with cultural issues, identity and believe it or not poverty. This does not excuse any failures by whoever has been or will be in power in Thailand. Unfortunately for Thailand, they are a key player when it comes to present day global faction positioning. They are torn between two major players in the world and It is therefore becoming increasingly difficult to keep both happy. Having the thorn that is Thaksin hanging around as well, releasing disinformation and creating civil unrest, is increasingly taking it's toll on the progression of Thai society. I think right now, stability, though admittedly with draconian measures, is the best the Thai's can hope for. A small measure of peace and stability is far better than civil strife. That is the way I see it anyway.
  2. Like most have commented, if there is no sign of anything illegal then I would stay away from the situation. At the end of the day no matter what good your intentions are, you are not the parent of the boy in question. As someone else suggested, if you have a friend who is Thai, tell them the situation and see what they think. They will know if it warrants further action but from what you have told us, I would think they would not want to get involved.
  3. '4. Please show me evidence that the testing rate was 'abysmal'.' is not an accusation of error, it is a request to back up your comment with evidence.
  4. Sure I can understand that but with so much disinformation, with questionable aims, on this forum right now, I think it is just best for everyone to post links of data to back up their comments.
  5. It is truly hilarious and coincidental that you used a picture of a 'mall corridor' in Pratunam. A place, as I mentioned, I know very well. These corridors have pretty much been like this for about two decades ever since MBK opened. Pratunam used to be the centre until MBK opened and then platinum mall took even more shops and businesses away. Usually those upper floors only have a few shops selling fancy dress costumes and university clothing. 5555 so funny you tried to pull this one in a place I know like the back of my hand and used to go to daily to pick up stock for my shops in MBK. Soi 19, great bamee-kiew, corner by Pratunam river taxi stop best khao mun gai, I lived/ owned a place in Soi 15 Pratunam Prestige condo for like 10years.
  6. Total manipulation of stock images. As if there were never homeless people and abandoned buildings before in Thailand. Next you will be showing us the Ghost Tower of Saphan Thaksin!
  7. How about you put your name and address behind some of these brave assertions of yours? 100% you won't because you are a massive charlatan, probably use a VPN to sign in.
  8. If they thought the numbers were dodgy, they wouldn't publish them. Read further down the article and you will see the numbers were observed by international officials as well.
  9. Awwwww he can't muster an intelligent response so resorts to childish emoji antics, bless.
  10. That's a lie though isn't it? millions? and that hasn't happened to most countries around the world. The unemployment rate has risen a percent or two which with a workforce of 40million would be max 800 000 and even then that would not take into account how many started their own small family businesses like making food for delivery or becoming delivery men since eCommerce boomed with the stay at home stuff. The misinformation which is thrown about this forum is unbelievable.
  11. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-07-19/thailand-turns-to-chinese-vaccine-as-astra-supply-falls-short https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/first-batch-us-donated-pfizer-vaccines-arrives-thailand-2021-07-30/ Where does it say 'When made a czar of covid just during the 3rd wave after Songkran 2021 he delayed contracting new vaxes (pfizer, moderna) until end of June - over 2 months delay.' or is that just your own 'theory'? Thanks
  12. Lampang night market late December 2021 Place was dead, all the shops shut, just loads of zombies with face masks. VID_95030511_034912_379.mp4
  13. Given to the public like I saw happening on a massive scale at Bang Sue.
  14. I flew back home to get my jab and was allowed my first jab June 2021 and second jab September 2021. (Pfizer) UK My daughter in Thailand got her 1st and 2nd jab within 6 weeks of eachother September and early November 2021 (Pfizer) Thailand My wife got her first jab privately November 2021 (Moderna) Thailand She then gave me her 2nd private jab in January for my 3rd booster whilst she went to Bang Sue for her 2nd jab free off the government. (Moderna) Thailand - I went with her, thousands of people getting Moderna or Astra shots. Her mum got Astra twice September 2021 and then November 2021 and then Pfizer February 2022. Seems like a strange contrast to many comments here. Hmmmmm
  15. Interesting but it is only a fact when backed up by articles etc
  16. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/thai-economy-to-continue-recovery-but-risks-increase-c.bank-minutes-0 I didn't see any words such as, 'catastrophic disaster'. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-31/thailand-s-covid-cases-jump-to-record-as-easier-visa-rules-loom Nothing here either.........
  17. 1. Actually most countries kept their borders open to China and by that time, it didn't really matter as countries in Europe were just as infected. Looks like the UK made the same mistake. I don't think anyone really knew how serious it was going to be. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53654644 2. Really...poor education? So why nearly 100% of the population would wear and still do wear masks? Thailand knows a thing or two about Viruses etc see HIV, Malaria, Dengue...plenty of experience 3. Nobody could get all the vaccines they wanted, even India denied the UK the Astra's they promised them in return for being able to manufacture Astra in India. The privately ordered Pfizer jabs were delayed multiple times due to external issues and not Thailand's fault. The Chinese Vax's were all that was available at the time and quite rightly like any intelligent person they thought, better 50% protection of something than 100% of nothing. Obviously you with your medical degree knows better huh 4. Please show me evidence that the testing rate was 'abysmal'. Thanks
