Thailand is Thailand …. Apply Thai logic and all will be fine. Many Thai drive perfectly fine.. MTOB I rather have Thai traffic any day than the highly regulated traffic system we have in the west .. Driving here is exciting and fun. So is road cycling. Did 35000km this year in the car … and just short of 1000km with my race bike. Stay alert and be ready for anything ;-)
Be safe out there.

Oh, I always do mine both together in the one visit. About to do the same again next week ! Am I better to just get the re-entry at the airport then, what is the advantage of doing that ? Surely the re-entry is only valid up to the end-date of the extension ?
The multi re entry stamp has the date written on it -:I got mine at imigration when I got my extension of stay - both dates align

Hi boys and girls, i'm Ronny, the distiller and chocolate maker from Belgium. Maybee some people dissapoint, but i have a werkpermit, yes, and i have license for this, yes, and the governement check the distillery every month. But i invite everybody that not sure about the taste, the quality come to taste, no, i will come by you so you can change your mind. And i distill real Gin, not fake gin from i was 17, with the best juniper berries, my distiller stay on the top from distillers in the world, a ''Muller'' from Oberkirchen Swartzwald Germany. I come from a country with the best chocolats of the world, and i come from the village where stay the biggest Chocolate factory off the world, where they make more than 1000 diffrent chocolats for many marks in EU. And here, i get advice from an Belgium ingeneer expat that works there many years in the production by Barry Callebaut, yes, Swiss Belgium company. Him say before also, nobody can make chocolate in Thailand, but him see, taste, check and change his mind... ???????????????? So my chocolats that i produce melt here quicker than the import, becous i go for quality, use only cacaobutter in place the palmfat what give a higher melt point, but i go for full taste in everything i produce. Ps... Palmfat cost 50 baht/kg cacaobutter 600 baht/kg.
And yes, i controle the yeasting from the beans and use not bananaleaves as yeast culture like the thai do... ???????????? But the quality and taste from the cacaobeans here are very very good.... if, the right yeadtculture and correctly roosting. I want only say... come to visit me www.jrtoppi.com, you not need to buy, only look. ????
Very interesting about the chocolate - I remember Leonidas as the 'best ever' Belgian chocolate ... Is this done in the same / similar fashion ? Looks like you will be on my 'must visit list' ????

I know this can seem a trivial topic, but it's actually quite important to my wife, since she felt my actions reflected poorly on her. If you have a Thai spouse and are here long term, you may find it necessary to live in Thai society.
I know some farang enjoy thumbing their noses at Thai norms that seem quaint or outdated or even ridiculous. And it is undoubtedly true that respect is often required when it is not deserved. But I make an effort to go along with the conventions while maintaining my integrity (not always easy).
My original question could be put this way -- when it comes to wai priority, does position trump age, education and wealth? Andre0720 suggested in his post that it does. Not that a department head in a Thai government school is such an exalted position ...
Paul Laew
My understanding is that position / status will trump age .... I think on balance you should have wai first ...

You are not supposed to drive in the middle lane if the left lane is free.
If a car undertakes you it's nearly always because you are in the wrong lane.
Haha ... I could see that one coming .. as you say 'nearly always' ... I would agree with you 100% if it was in the West .. Here however I think you need to have a bit more of a flexible approach in this place ... I go up and down on Route 7 - BKK to Ryong ... The left lane is nearly always occupied by trucks. So in my experience cars tend to stay in the 2nd lane ... Not keep pulling in and out of the 1nd to 2nd ... Then you have lane 3 and 4 for overtaking ... unless .. the traffic is very heavy and you have one of the 'boy racers' in his sticker covered pick up ... Doing heavy lane jumping as he will weave troughs the traffic... Truck in the left lane .. tend to do 60 to 80 .. the next lane is then 90 to 120 .. and 'wherever you want' .. tend to be from 130 to 200 and up !! ???? kph ...
Actually I found the hardest part to get to grips with here ... is the lack if eye contact with drivers due to the very strong tinting - With no eye contact .. Its the vehicle that you now need to judge ..is is slowing down .. How does it move ..small change in speed will indicate if 'it' will let you pass in front .. or you should hold back and let the other car pass ... Took me a few weeks to get used to that ...
Another observation I made here compared to other places ... people here tend to not mind you using the space in front of them ..as long as you do not hit them ... pulling in front of someone ... I found people in Northern Europe much more 'oh .. why you do that ... I will accelerate to stop you doing that ' .... Here its ... if its space .. use it ... as long as it does not interfere with my driving ... i.e. do not pull in front of me and brake !
Yes .. all in all driving here is no big deal once you learn to go with the flow and adapt ...

the turn, when I first arrived here , I soon realized that when a driver flashes
his lights, he's not letting out out , like you used to do in UK , but saying don't
pull out.....
regards Worgeordie
Very good point about the flashing of head light ... What I have found is the right thing to do here is to turn on the flashers -- if you want to indicate that you hold back to let another car or person go in front of you .. Works a charm ...
I actually enjoy driving here - never a dull moment ... Very seldom do you have anyone hitting the horn if you are a bit late moving - Or make a wrong turn and have to double back ...
Motor bikes all over the place .. front .. left and right .. up or down ... just take it easy try and go with the flow .. do not make any quick lane changes ... Do not go to slow. Try and think ahead as much as possible and think of it as fair ride that you can walk away from if you play your cards right and have a bit of luck as well ...
Almost done 25000km this year .. If I have to pick one thing I do not like is driving on the motorway in the middle lane. Doing about 120kph - and some hot dog in a pick up with lots of stickers on the back window undertake you doing 180kph ... That can be a bit annoying ???? ...
Drive safe !

Do they offer a QR code option?

1. Not a good option. If you were caught with a overstay before leaving you could be deported and being banned from entering the country.
2. You could apply for a extension of stay based upon being married to a Thai without your employer being involved other that giving a you a termination letter to cancel your current extension needed to apply for a new one.
3. You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your Thai wife or a 60 day covid 19 extension. You would need the termination letter/notice to cancel your current to apply for a new one.
Quick question Ubonjoe... If he was above 50 and had the required 800K in the bank - Could he also apply for extension of stay based on retirement ?

<I registered a neighbor.>
email said expect SMS by 23:00 the day before. And you need to present the sms on-site, otherwise you will be denied inoculation.
SMS in Thai of course.
SMS came from CVC-MOPH, no number displayed (bulk provider).
Yes, I know Google Translate on my Android phone can automatically translate SMSes.
email was in English, 100%.
Any clue which vaccine will be administered?
Seems like the foreigners are scheduled towards the end of the day. My neighbor got 17:00, for today, Sunday, 25 July 2021.
I think it should be less chaotic than it was earlier this week.
I got my AstraZenaca vaccine - about 3 hours after arriving on Saturday at about 11:00 - I took with me Passport, Printed out the Email - and had the txt message ready. I parked in the underground car park - Aim for carpork 2 ... Lots and lots of cars outside - But several spare places in the underground car park. I thought it went relativity smoothly all things considered ...

That said I am curious how most people are filling it out.
First box : First name (given name)
Second box : Last name (family name)
If you have a middle name - Put it in front of your Last name
That should also match what you have in your passport ....
This is just a simple form that does not do any fancy cross checking against data beses etc ... The key thing is to show your passport .. so make sure it matches what is written in your passport

For a solar system I would go for large cell capacity LFP cells - 40Ahr to 100Ahr. 2P or 3p and then series up to give you the required system voltage. Good BMS with WiFi or Bluetooth interface so you can keep an eye on things. When people say that they monitor each cell - They tend to mean each cell block in parallel. No issue with cycling LFP cells from 20% to 95%. One thing you should do - is to clamp the cells together ... That will improve the cell life. The cells will try and expand during charge and discharge. By clamping them together you will prevent the swelling which is good for life time.

What makes you think those Chinese actually jumped through any hoops at all?
I did see a few at the embassy in Beijing ...... Lots of papers and same C-19 tests etc ... So based on what I did see there and on a 'normal' repat flight .. They have same paper chase as anyone else .. Only two flights from Beijing to BKK in September. Have to say that the Visa staff at the Thai embassy was very helpful .. Just a data point as experienced by me ..

Years ago I was working on HK new airport (yes that long ago). I spent weeks walking around a piece of cardboard/thin ply on the floor, one day it was missing revealing a hole the went down at least 3 floors!
I never found out where it went, hopefully nobody took a shortcut!
Ah ... I landed on the old one .. and flew our from the new one, 1 or 2 days after it opened .. ???? ... small world ...
