Now go and read some of the great posts in this thread challenging your statement that only what can be indisputedly proved with scientific evidence is of real value....

    The Peter.

For risk of hijacking the thread (the issue of authenticity being relevant).

The Note 10 Lite has no waterproofing.

Is this an issue in Thailand?

Hi, I am not an expert on this (far from actually).

But when you buy a 'wallet' for your mobile phone (those wallets are incredibly cheap on Lazada, you would be able to get one for your Samsung for approx 100 THB) I guess your mobile phone will be well-protected , both against scratches on the screen as well as water-droplets when carrying it with you in your pocket when it rains.

    Cheers!

I'm currently viewing 2 x Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite phones both associated with Lazada LazMall.

One is advertised for 11,990 and the other featuring "Samsung Official Store" advertised for 15,488.

Both are 8/128 with 4,500 battery, the only difference is the less expensive model is black.

Judging by your and others comments, am I safe to buy the less expensive one, or is it possible it's a copy?

I'm out of the country but would ship to new owner who may not be able to determine authenticity.

    ...

The only thing I can advise is:

1 - take a good look at the specs for both models as advertised,

2 - when they are indeed identical (except that the cheaper one only comes in black color), do look at the warranty.

I suspect that you would get full x-years warranty when buying from the official Samsung store, and that might not be the case when buying from the other seller, but do check if you get any guarantee from the other seller.

Also you wrote that BOTH are on LazMall, which means you would buy an absolutely genuine Samsung product (the LazMall guarantee).

So if they are indeed identical in specifications, I would go for the one that is +20% cheaper even if it has no or reduced warranty.  When buying a genuine product - as you would be doing - the chance of you having to make use of the warranty is very very small (and a brand like Samsung will probably also provide warranty on their genuine products even when not bought in their official store).

    Cheers and success!

Thanks for that!:wai: Did try again and got the below message again. Went through your list and think I fulfill all the necessary requirements to do it online but no luck.

Oh well, will head down to Jomtien IO closer to the due date. Question; when doing it in person how early can I go?

    Capture.JPG

Sorry to hear that.  So it seems you need to go do it in person to your local Imm Office in Jomtien.

That can be done from 14 days before due date till 6 days after due date.

Better not do it too early (and keep trying on-line) as the due date of your next 90-day report will be determined by adding 90 days to the date of submitting/approving your current one.

    > Also when doing it in person, you can ask the Imm Officer for a print-out of their submission as it is possible that you are not able to do it on-line because of something as simple as 1 letter different in the approved earlier 90-day report from you that they keep (and which should be fully aligned with your TM-30 data which they should have, as the 90-day report is nothing more than a confirmation that your official address for immigration purposes as notified by that TM-30 has not changed).

So, it didn't work, just told me to go to the immigration office. Anyone knows what the latest document requirements are in Jomtien IO?

I just tried and it worked for me.

    https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do

But unfortunately when the program displays an error-message it does not provide the reason, so attached an online 90-day reporting trouble-shooting guideline, addressing the most common issues why 'it is not working'.

    Hope this helps.

  7. For sake of clarity re your friend's extension options.

1 - A 60-day Tourist Visa (or a 45-day Visa Exempt entry) is only eligible for ONE 30-day extension

2 - After that one-time 30-day extension your friend will only have 2 options when wanting to further stay in Thailand:

    a) Applying for a 60-day covid-19 extension, which can be extended as long as Thai Immigration keeps on issuing them (as long as the current border restrictions are in place, it is unlikely that Immgration will stop providing such covid-19 extensions)

    b) When +50 years of age, your friend can also apply for a 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of 'retirement', which has to be done when having still at least 15 days left on her permission to stay (some IOs require 21 or 23 days).  Subsequently, in the last month of those 90 days, she can then apply for a 1-year extension of stay which must be done at the same Imm Office that provided the initial 90-day Non Imm O Visa.

    NEW THAI DRIVING LICENCE | กรมการขนส่งทางบก (dlt.go.th)

Indeed the DLT offices did close or restrict services last year, but re-opened within a couple of months.

I renewed my 5 year licence in March this year no problem.

Unless they have closed again since Songkran and the increase in Covid infections, I'm not aware.

Your better to ring your local DLT to get a definitive answer on licence applications/renewals at this current time,

That banner which I posted stating suspension of services is featured on the Home-page of the DLT website

It boggles the mind that the opening page of the main website of DLT features incorrect information , when you were obviously able to renew your 5-year licence 2 months ago...

But TIT, always good for a surprise...

  9. Prominent on the Home-page of the DLT-website it is stated that

All Land Transport Offices have suspended

all services to driving license and transport personnel license

    from March 31 st 2020

until the state of emergency is terminated or until there is any other announcement.

We are now almost 14 months later, so I wonder whether that is still correct, as I need to apply for a driving license in order to be in compliance with motorcycle-insurance.

    = = = = =

The DLT website also contains the procedure to apply for a 2-year driving license.

That procedure is almost 5 years old, so also here I wonder whether the steps outlined are still valid.

    Date 15 July 2559

  10. On one of the Forum threads I came across this promotion on LAZADA

So I did order that 10 Mbps dTac SIM-card, which arrived 2-3 days later.

That SIM only costs 1.390 THB and provides unlimited 10 Mbps mobile data for a full year!

Not only that, but it also features unlimited free calls on the dTac network, and for 50 THB a month this can be extended to ALL Thai providers.  As I live in South Isaan where dTac is the most widely used network, the latter is not necessary for me (but good to know that it is available).

I now use that new 10 Mbps SIM and I did a speed-test which indeed shows that I can surf and download - as well as upload - at 10 Mbps (our house is fairly close to a dTac send-pole which probably explains that max speed I get).

Note: 10Mbps means that you can download 1.25 Mb per second, or 75 MB a minute or 4.5 GB per hour.  Whether you get those speeds is of course dependent on the server that provides the downloaded content, but on some servers I get 3 GB per hour.

Obviously that SIM-card is really a worthwhile deal, and surely when you need mobile data if you do not have WiFi or cable in your home.

The only thing you need to do once your SIM-card is delivered by Lazada, is to register it on your or your wife/girlfriends name at a dTac shop. The SIM-card features also an instruction on how to do that yourself, but as it was in Thai I simply went to the local dTac shop (in my local super-market) and they had it fixed for me in 3 minutes.

And the '(+10.000 suspected deaths reported)'?

It's there for everyone to see so there's no denying you stated this.

Below attached a detailed summary of the suspected deaths reported as of 08-05-2021 on the EudraVigilance website for the 4 covid-19 vaccines.

Simply count them and you will see > well over 10.000 suspected deaths reported.

And I would be interested to receive the evidence to ascertain your claim that "the vast, vast majority of the deaths would have occured anyway as of course many of the recipients where particularly old, frail and ill already."

Firstly, I cannot find a single link talking about 10,000 deaths. The best I could find would be in the region of 4,000 'suspected' deaths but even that's not verified. From the same artcile I quoted:-

' A post claimed that in Europe "3,964 people have died from adverse drug reactions for COVID-19 ‘vaccines’ – 162,610 injuries."

That’s a misrepresentation of information in an European database that tracks suspected reactions to medicines, including COVID-19 vaccines. The agency behind the database cautions that the information is only of suspected side effects, and that it should not be interpreted as meaning that the medicine caused the effects or that it’s unsafe'.

A detailed evaluation and scientific assessment of all available data is needed before drawing conclusions, the agency said. The COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to millions of people across Europe and the United States, and health agencies have vouched for their safety and effectiveness. We found no definitive proof that a COVID-19 vaccine caused someone’s death'.

    https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/mar/31/blog-posting/european-database-does-not-prove-covid-19-vaccines/

Secondly, the site this originally came from was called The Gateway Pundit. From the same article:-

'The Gateway Pundit claimed two of the vaccines being used in the United States are behind thousands of deaths and injuries in Europe. The Gateway Pundit cites information from Global Research, a Canadian website run by the Centre for Research on Globalization, which was accused by NATO of posting conspiracy theories, spreading Russian disinformation and undermining Western media.'

Lastly, it's not only medical professional reporting this data. Anyone can go on the site and report reactions, syptoms or even deaths, which again you conveniently fail to mention and whilst vaccinations are highly effective they don't fully prevent Covid infection, with places such as the U.S. having reported cases of COVID-19 infection and deaths among fully vaccinated people still happening. There are also the many variants to contend with.

And you can stop your pearl clutching and attempts at faux indignation when I accuse you of misrepresenting the data because that's exactly what you did in your original post. You clearly stated 'That's more than 430.000 reports since the roll-out of the covid-19 vaccines, with symptoms ranging from 'mild rash' to 'death within days of getting the vaccine' (+10.000 suspected deaths reported).

This is blatantly false and since I have seen your posts before and I know you are an ardent ant-vaxxer (please confirm or deny this so people on this thread can understand your agenda), if you don't want to be called out for purposely misrepresenting data, then may I suggest you don't do it. There are FB groups and QAnon sites that cater specifically for these things.

    Not biting...

and I stand for every fact that I wrote in my posts and am not taking back anything of it.

Why should I?  I simply quoted easily verifiable FACTS (+430.000 reports as of 2 days ago) from the official EudraVigilance site, and it is not me but you that are quoting an outdated article which misrepresented these facts.

Your original statement was '+10.000 suspected deaths reported', with no explanation or context for this number, leaving any layman to think this is due to the vacine when it most certainly isn't.

    ...

    Your statement is utterly ridiculous!

Why would a medical professional report a 'suspected death due to covid-19 vaccination' on the EudraVigilance site when 'it most certainly isn't'.

The reporting is done as an 'early warning signal' to get an insight in the number and nature of suspected adverse cases.  When it is fully clear that the cause was NOT due to the vaccine, there is no point in reporting it.

And of course there will be reported cases of adverse reactions (and even death) that were not due to the vaccine.  Hence the use of the term 'suspected'.  Individual stand-alone cases will not trigger the warning signal, but when significant numbers of similar cases are reported an investigation is warranted.

You should be grateful that such a monitoring system is in place, and not accuse those that are looking at the data in that system of being dishonest when sharing relevant info about it.

You are being completely disingenuos with this post and you know it.
As much as there has been 'more than 430.000 reports' regarding this database, it is literally out of something in the region of 30 million reports and includes ALL adverse effects from a sore arm and rashes (as you correctly state) to deaths. But what you fail to state with your dramatic '(+10.000 suspected deaths reported)' in typical anti-vaxer  'I'll choose the numbers that suit my purpose' fashion is that the vast, vast majority of the deaths would have occured anyway as of course many of the recipients where particularly old, frail and ill already. Correlation does not mean causation and your spurios attempts to make it sound like there has been 10,000 deaths just from taking the vacine is deceptive and downright dishonest. There are many, many reports to prove this so lets just start with some good ol' fact checking and a quote of 'Taking the raw data of possible COVID-19 vaccination reactions at face value and using them without context is an oft-used tactic by people attempting to undermine public confidence in the vaccines, according to the New York Times. They frequently interpret the numbers from EudraVigilance or from its United States counterpart, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, as evidence of the vaccines’ dangers.

    https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/mar/31/blog-posting/european-database-does-not-prove-covid-19-vaccines/

I do not understand why people like yourself are being quite so dishonest in this fashion when there are lives at stake. Do you feel no responsibility for your fellow man? Do you not feel guilt about spreading false and misleading information or masking your anti-vaxer pseudoscience under information that people can trust to tell the opposite story?

You should be ashamed of yourself but I'm sure your echo chamber doesn't allow self-reflection.

An emotional, aggressive, name-calling and non-factual reaction from your part.

I challenge you to point out any false, misleading fact in my post.

FACT > There are at this moment 430.000 suspected covid-19 adverse reaction reports in the EudraVigilance database.

Since anybody can report an adverse drug reaction the data collected are only 'suspected' drug reaction reports, which I pointed out clearly.

It is also fair to point out that these reports will in majority address reactions that are not considered 'normal reactions to the vaccine' since most of them are posted by medical professionals (the reports actually provide that info - look it up).

And talking about dishonesty... how can you ascertain that "the vast, vast majority of the deaths would have occured anyway as of course many of the recipients where particularly old, frail and ill already."

Please note that I am NOT stating that these +10.000 deaths are due to the vaccine, but what's the point of the EU maintaining an official database, if one is not allowed to mention the official data of suspected adverse covid-19 vaccine reactions which it contains.

I am surely not 'ashamed of myself' for presenting facts based on actual and official data, which are - unfortunately - not so easily accessible and should not be sweeped under the table but warrant some serious scrutiny.

Are these headline numbers purely deaths as a direct consequence of the vaccine

and if so is that one particular variety of a general result of all the vaccines?

Are these deaths and illnesses a result of covid 19  or does it include the multitude

of child vaccinations plus the TB prevelant in Asia?

Please don't ask me to read the link as I really don't understand a lot of the technical

language used (I'm more than happy to admit my ignorance) and detect a slight

whiff of flat earthers in the organisation that published the report.

The post you referred to contained links to EudraVigilance - the European database of suspected adverse drug reaction reports.
That 2012 initiative allows health professionals and the public to report on any adverse drug reactions they came across.
Since anybody can report an adverse drug reactions the data collected are only 'suspected' drug reaction reports.  But the value of collecting these reports and making them accessible lies in the 'power of numbers' which transcends anecdotal individual reports.
You can access the reports on the 4 covid-19 vaccines used in the EU.
To consult the reports for COVID-19 vaccines, follow the link above, click on the letter 'C' and scroll down until “COVID-19”.

Up to 15/05/2021 the number of individual cases identified in EudraVigilance for
    - COVID-19 MRNA VACCINE MODERNA (CX-024414) is 25,849
    - COVID-19 VACCINE ASTRAZENECA (CHADOX1 NCOV-19) is 222,071
    - COVID-19 VACCINE JANSSEN (AD26.COV2.S) is 4,162

That's more than 430.000 reports since the roll-out of the covid-19 vaccines, with symptoms ranging from 'mild rash' to 'death within days of getting the vaccine' (+10.000 suspected deaths reported).

As one of the Insurance guru's of this forum, I sent you a link to download the PDF's pertaining to this particular Travel Insurance policy, which is not specific.

I certainly don't think this type of policy would be suitable for any Visa application in it's current form for entry to Thailand, which is quite specific on the requirements.

Appreciate your comments when you've had time to view the PDF's.

    @Tanoshi

To meet the Thai Embassy requirement re 400K/40K health-insurance when applying for a Non Imm O-A Visa (currently also required when applying for a Non Imm O Visa for reason of retirement), applicants can make use of both foreign and Thai insurance policies to comply.

However, when opting for foreign insurance (often because you are already having such policy) you would need to have your insurer fill in and sign the Foreign Insurance Certificate, where they state that your insurance meets both the 400K in-patient and 40K out-patient coverage.  The problem is of course having to convince your insurer to sign that document which refers to Thai legislation which they are not familiar with, and hence they will be reluctant to do so.

But when the foreign insurer is willing to fill in and sign that FIC, the applicant will meet the 400K/40K health-insurance requirement.

And indeed it would be best if the policy should cover the 12-month period a Non Imm O-A Visa entry could provide you on entry, but that is NOT required.  And this for the simple reason that the policy expiry date will be mentioned by the Thai Embassy in a note on the Non Imm O-A Visa you will be provided.  And when entering Thailand you would be stamped in for whichever is shorter:

    - the 12 months a Non Imm O-A Visa entitles you to

    OR

    - till the expiry date of that health-insurance policy mentioned in the note on your passport.

This allows people that already have a health-insurance policy that meets the 400K/40K requirements to make use of their policy, even if it expires earlier.

But the consequence then is that those on a Non Imm O-A Visa of which the permission to stay was capped till expiry date of their foreign policy, would then have to apply for the 1-year extension of stay based on that original Non Imm O-A Visa for reason of retirement earlier than the normal 12 months.  And doing so they will also have to subscribe at that earlier date to a THAI health-insurance policy.  Hence my earlier comment that it is only in very specific cases that it would be advantageous to make use of a foreign policy that expires e.g. after 6 months.

    Hope this clarifies the matter.

There have been a lot of 'severe' reactions reported in Thai news outlets.

The 7 nurses at the training University who experienced 'stroke' like symptoms and were immediately transferred to a hospital, one of whom died days later.

    ...

Link to the article re the 9 student-nurses that experienced severe side-effects after receiving the vaccine.

The article is from 7 days ago and I did not yet come across an update.
If one of them died that would surely be reported on Thai media...

That said, the ‘green pass’ suits me fine, with the added benefit of being able to avoid people like you and others here who want to try and dictate how I should live my life, simply because of those who are too stupid to responsibly do so. I’m healthy, happy, I always wear a mask and diligently wash and use hand gel every time I go out - and when I return. I avoid getting near or touching other people. I have everything I need and I certainly don’t need some stupid, crazy government law or any other person dictating how I should live my life.

Anyone here care to provide me statistics on what my risk percentages are for getting or passing covid to others? I’d sure be interested to know, as I haven’t seen anything intelligently written about that.

Regardless, it’s probably not going to change my opinion one iota.

Too much talk when only the first year is needed to show where the funds came from,  after that where ever....  dont make ity sound so complicated and mysterius man..

Nothing mysterious, it's just that you clearly did not understand the actual issue - lol.

The OP's mother's permission to stay did expire and on her return to Thailand she will re-apply for a NEW 90-day Non Imm O Visa.  Since she did not liquidate the Fixed Deposit Account with +800K she had for 8 years already, providing proof of that might be accepted by Immigration when she applies for that new 90-day Non Imm O Visa.  However, a - by the letter of the book - Imm Officer might refuse that for lack of evidence that those +800K originated from abroad, as the funds were transferred 8 years ago.
