My marriage is probably where one could expect it to be after almost 20 years, with its highs and its lows.

As incredible as it may seem, my initial post was really out of curiosity, and not about checking the status of my marriage.

From the multiple answers gathered, it would seem that we are in a fifty-fifty situation, that is, one half of the members dealing with similar issues as mine, and one half considering that my case is desperate.

Would love to hear you wife's opinion about you.  Any chance you can get her to make a post here?

No bait here,  just a regular comment.

Thailand may be number one for education spending, but then it doesn't get a good return on its money.

Thailand constantly ranks last or close to last in inter Asean student competitions, especially in English where it somehow manages to finish behind powerhouses such as Burma or Laos!

On top of that, students IQ below 100 in universities, and below 90 in high schools are the worrying measured average...needless to say that these numbers are quickly pushed under the rug until next time...

If you don't like it, why not leave?

Job status has nothing to do with ideas, ethics, morality, or intelligence.

However - "...a low end computer worker..." is wildly inaccurate and reveals your lack of knowledge of his background.

Snowden rose thru the CIA due to his computer skills, and was given diplomatic cover and a 4 bedroom apartment near Lake Geneva.

After he quit the CIA, his computer work as a contractor earned him salaries of up to 200k USD.

    Fake news and totally untrue

Guy was a low end computer hack.  Let's throw a few facts at your bs.  Guy was a perpetual loser, school drop out, physical security guard and low end computer programmer.  All the rest is a creation of the media and your imagination.....

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Edward Snowden’s Education

Edward Snowden dropped out of high school and studied computers at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland (from 1999 to 2001, and again from 2004 to 2005).

Between his stints at community college, Snowden spent four months from May to September 2004 in special-forces training in the Army Reserves, but he did not complete his training. Snowden told The Guardian that he was discharged from the Army after he “broke both his legs in a training accident.” However, an unclassified report published on September 15, 2016 by the House Intelligence Committee refuted his claim, stating: “He claimed to have left Army basic training because of broken legs when in fact he washed out because of shin splints.”

    NSA Subcontractor

Snowden eventually landed a job as a security guard at the University of Maryland's Center for Advanced Study of Language. The institution had ties to the National Security Agency, and, by 2006, Snowden had taken an information-technology job at the Central Intelligence Agency.

In 2009, after being suspected of trying to break into classified files, he left to work for private contractors, among them Dell and Booz Allen Hamilton, a tech consulting firm. While at Dell, he worked as a subcontractor in an NSA office in Japan before being transferred to an office in Hawaii. After a short time, he moved from Dell to Booz Allen, another NSA subcontractor, and remained with the company for only three months.

You guys are missing out on the fun -- since in my case the girl doesn't speak English, and my Thai as I say is in the 60-70% range, I am the one who gets to say -- especially when convenientThai not my language.

That is a crafty and great tactic!  Or add, Thai language too difficult, yak maak.

Just posted on an expat forum for my Viet city, a bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon is 200,000VND or 270 baht. A few months ago I was able to buy fine California red wines for 400,000 or 540 baht. The wine bar  (not in HCMC) held a wine tasting to celebrate the arrival of many US wines at great prices.

FWIW, I bought a 750 ml JW Black Label for 900 baht. Could have got it cheaper at 465,000/630 baht. In Thailand it's over 1300 baht but for only a 700 ml bottle. Not missing Thailand too much. Sorry.

If alcohol prices are your only criteria, I would suggest that is a pretty limited comparison.  I mean, you could also sleep with the winos outside a liquor shop in LA and get really cheap prices.

You should watch Trump signing his executive orders...with a pen!

The meeting between both Korean leaders...pens again!

The formation of the new Italian government...pens again!

Hopefully, there are still some people who can write...or at least sign...

No I think that is fake news.  Those are not real pens but ceremonial ones with no ink.  He is just pretending to sign!

if you have your mirrors adjusted in the car properly there are no blind spots especially if its a normal car and not a truck. Also knowing whats behind you by checking your mirrors regularly helps too. I can see everything behind me when driving, if its not in the side mirror its in the rear view mirror, its just common sense to make sure you can see what coming up on you

Simply not true.  There are blind spots and you should always check when changing lanes

Right then,  I better start enjoying myself before I get arrested and sent to work hard labour in the Siberian salt mines because my grandson is watching Tom & Jerry cartoons on YouTube.

Tom & Jerry is an extremely violent cartoon and promotes gender inequality and cruelty to animals while damaging the environment, causing global warming and teaching people to be tricky and dishonest like the mouse. Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner is much more suitable.
