But it was not just a question of potholes and uneven surfaces - what car drivers might perceive to be the problem.

Potholes appearing on new roads or recently resurfaced roads point to a failure of quality or care. If you cannot get newly laid black top to stay in place what hope for other design & engineering issues - none.

I see more & more concrete roads being constructed.

He who pays the piper calls the tune! Without mentioning names I think some Thai Insurance companies are thinking they will cash in on the gold rush, falungs flying into LOS by the plane loads, after the enlightened ones open the gates, 7 eleven Tesco will have live concerts outside, beer will flow, happy birday to you.

"after the enlightened ones open the gates,7 eleven Tesco will have live concerts outside, beer will flow"    I agree it will be a mental party & take off fast with sky high prices.

The link below is an ad posted by AETNA Insurance recently, and according to AETNA in this advertisement extensions of stay for O-A visas will require 3 million baht cover from Sept 1 2022.

I'm also bewildered by the lack of logic and the discrimination when it comes to money in the bank and health insurance, each for different reasons.

#1. I'm at a complete loss why an expat staying by reason of marriage has to only have 400k in the bank, when he has a wife and quite possibly kids to provide for, and why an expat on a retirement visa/extensions has to have 800k in the bank, when he/she is more than likely single with only himself/herself to provide for. I fail to see any logic in this.

#2.  I'm not against mandatory health insurance for long stay expats, but it should be applicable to ALL long stay expats regardless of visa/extension type, NOT just O-A. Straight out blatant discrimination in my view, and again no logic that makes any sense whatsoever

Agreed - no logic - just a simplistic requirement to try to guarantee long stay visa holders have substantial financial means in country.

Neither the 400K or 800K (which started out as an alternative to claiming minimum monthly income) will ever get spent because to do so will invalidate your long stay visa immediately and that would be unfortunate to put it mildly.

    Well and good, but unless:

    a) They've actually done something illegal outside of Thailand. and

    b) an international court takes action.....

It's just a mild embarrassment, in fact some of them might even gain enormous face in the places that matter to them.

Well they might loose their next election but not their inflated Gov pension I expect.

  5. Civic has a large boot, holds the road well, fine on long journeys however is quite low so not idea if fully loaded around the waist line - male or female !!!!

If planning a family and living in a big city a mid size SUV would be the way to go. Once you go past 3 kids you are looking at an MPV ( 3 kids equates to 2 kids & granny).

All cars on your list are excellent choices.

The Honda Civic has remote start so you can have the air conditioning going a few minutes before you get inside. That's nice.

Meanwhile there has been no reporting whatsoever about how many doses have actually been exported. It could well be 0.

It was previously announced that AZ would deliver 6 million doses in June and then 10 million a month until the end of the year. It was reported that Thailand was to keep 1/3 of production and export the rest. Meaning that production was projected to be 30 million/month. I think the last I heard they were making something like 3-5 million. It has been VERY quiet about what is going on with the local AZ production. I would love to know more if anyone has seen anything.

Yes - the AZ rep in Thailand needs to be more forthcoming on the plants current production capacity it being of public interest - maybe he is sworn to secrecy. Note it also produces AZ in S.Korea so I wonder how the production capacity compares.

The recommended time between the 2 jabs for AstraZeneca is 8 to 12 weeks. This is more than the 4 weeks for the mRNA vaccines. The antibody response is higher when waiting 12 weeks instead of 8 weeks, but you have less protection between the shots. So what you want?

I got my first AZ in July and have the wait until October,

Re: "The antibody response is higher when waiting 12 weeks instead of 8 weeks," That is what I understand to be the case too.

The report starts off with how many have had jabs then deviates to the worst hit cases by province, why don't they tell us the jabs given in each province

That info is available on the Thai Health Services LINE account.

Try searching "covid-19 vaccination info graphic" MOPH - Immunization center (IC).

My best guess is that they took ownership of the vaccination of foreigners as a result of the Pfizer donation from the U.S. Whether they volunteered or were assigned, I can't say.

The DCA has the experience and language skills, after having served in many foreign countries, so may better know how to manage our expectations.

They seem to be doing a good job so far, and most know I am (un-?)fairly critical of the regime, so stingy with any sort of accolades.

I was 0-fer on ~ ten-ish registration schemes here since the days of mor prom.

Since the DCA took over I'm Three for Three.

    What does DCA stand for?

    A million vaccines per day?

    10m Vaccines

Then each month has 10 days

Ah this excludes the holidays/long weekends etc.....

Exactly..............in an emergency you would think the Health Service immunisations teams would be fully functioning 7 days a week.............the vaccinated numbers reported show a big drop off at the weekends. The second jab figures seem very low considering how many have been vaccinated since the 7th June.
