Plenty of provinces close to Bangkok that are excellent with good local people but you must learn how to speak Thai so you can socialise with confidence.
Downside is you will need a car and Thai licence. Cars are cheap at the moment . Dont ride a motorbike anywhere in Asia.
Always RENT houses or units......never by property assets in Thailand expecially land. Its not legally yours. Home rentals are dirt cheap but you need to shop around for a month atleast. Landlords are good here, much better than the west.
Stay single unless you meet a rich Thai woman. LOL Its possible but dont hold your breathe.
Stay away from all the beer bar hooker towns ie Pattaya,Phuket,Hua Hin, CM etc etc they have the lowest Thai people and the lowest foreigners.
As long as you have alot of money or you have a monthly income stream from overseas you can live and travel in Thailand. Its not cheap anymore unless youre a non drinker and dont go out whoring.
Be very careful about starting a business with 'good honest Thais' or even worse..a farang.
You will need to live here quite a while before you get an idea of how things work in Thaland.
Always be polite....trust no-one.
