Perhaps someone from the government of good old blighty can explain why it is necessary for an old man to do this in order to see the NHS funded.

All he is doing is making a tiny dent in all those years of austerity and cutbacks.

Perhaps Colonel Tom can ask why all those Conservatives were cheering and laughing when they voted down a pay rise for the NHS staff?

The money raised is fore NHH CHARITIES. Not the NHS itself.

The charities support former and serving NHS staff in their hour of need.

  2. Unfortunately, I haven’t got any choice in the matter of isolation; I have managed to succumb to the lurgy.

I came back from Ubon on March 22, and immediately started working from home, I have had very little contact with the outside world – just going to the supermarket a couple times.

    But get it I did.

I am absolutely convinced I did not get it in Thailand – if that were the case, all those I had contact with would be suffering as well.

I was feeling pretty rotten for a few days, and then on Wednesday night I went downhill fast. Breathing difficulties, coughing, etc, but surprisingly, no temperature.

NHS 111 say it’s not serious enough (yet!!) for admission, but to keep an eye on it.

If you’re interested, I’ll keep you posted (and if I really feel up to it!).

Yes. Only 55 years old should go in his favour, though.

You have to figure, too, that he is a fairly determined bloke, and probably getting a lot more attention than most patients. More than just one man's live is at stake here.

In all the reports I am seeing and hearing, the hospital staff and medical authorities have gone to great lengths to emphasise that ALL patients are treated in strict accordance to laid down triage procedure.

Whether king or pauper, they are treated according to their requirements.

He might be offered spiced peaches for pudding, but whether or not he can accept them is another matter.

But he will have the same ventilators as all the other folks in the hospital.

    Bozzer is very ill.

    Big time ????

the trees were more than 300 years old

A few years ago, my Mrs dragged me round an old lump of wood somewhere near Amnat Charoen that was a little nut a mere 1,000 years ago. They had fished it out of a river and instantly started worshiping it. Loads of people bowing and prostrating themselves in front of it.

300 years, 1,000 years? Mere babes in arms.

    And dead!

The oldest living tree in the UK is up to 3,000 years old and still going strong... The Fortingall Yew. Maybe that could give a few lottery numbers ????

"Cooperation on beach safety" otherwise knows as training and information provided by Australian Lifesavers to their Phuket counterparts.

Good for all, hopefully some additional surf lifesaving equipment was donated to the cause.

Why the hell should it be donated?

Why shouldn't the Phuket civic authorities source life saving equipment themselves?

  7. I am so embarrassed and humiliated that this nonsense was adopted in the town of my childhood – Southampton.

Even if I were still the spotty youth I once was, I would be mortified that this utter rubbish was given the green light in my home town.

If only Thailand could pick up on proper technology and advancement from other cities and countries rather than the most stupid and cruddish ideas.

  8. The sign says "Humanitarian Relief For China".

That is just so wrong on so many levels.

The second biggest ecomomy in the world can't "relieve" its own citizens with basic stuff like face masks.

Even if there is more sophisticated equipment in the shipment, why the hell can't a country with nearly one and a half billion people, source that stuff internally and get it to their own people?

Why is it necessary for 30 different countries to stump up the goods several months after it all took off?

Christ al-flarpin-mighty. The Red Cross will be sending chip butties to Birmingham next.
