I came into Thailand on a Visa Exempt and have been on Covid Extensions ever since.
Now is the time to move on, but what I need to know is, can a 90 day Non O Retirement Visa be obtained at the local immigration office.
And if so what are the current requirements such as financial, insurance etc. Any advice would appreciated.

If you decide to use an Immigration agent, most of the requests, especially the financial aspects, will be skipped and you can lay back. Doing your application in Pattaya, you even don't have to visit the Immigration.
Can anyone recommend such agent ... and an approx price for a Non O on Retirement and an OA extension as a 15 month package from a Visa Exempt.... Thanks.

Thanks for your reply ..... that is great.

I registered 2 weeks ago at the Bangkok Hospital Khon Kaen website https://it-nurse.bkn.co.th/Registation-VaccineEx.php .. vaccinations are supposed to be on Sat 21 Aug. The website says the hospital will confirm by SMS or email ................ but nothing yet.
Has anyone who registered there had any response.

The plan was to go into Laos .... then immediately return to Thailand on visa exempt... the second time this year. Does anyone have any suggestions .....

I have just heard the Laos have closed there borders due to the virus. Was due to go to Nongkhai / Vientian next week for a via exempt crossing. Does anyone have any news about the closure.

ok ubonjoe... thanks for your reply.

Thanks ubonjoe.... that's great, but can I extend the question a little. When leaving Thailand at Vientiane land border crossing is it necessary to go across the river and into Laos, or after getting the exit stamp can one just cross the road and re-enter into Thailand on visa exempt..

Hi ChiangMaiMuu..... I have always found Vientiane ok for TV ..... but my understanding is just two TV or exempt entries in any year. That is why I will go for an exempt entry in December then two TVs next year. My main query is about the requirement of a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days when entering exempt. I have read on another thread that it is not required when entering by land... so I am hoping that is correct.

I would like to add a further question to this topic ........ is an onward flight out of Thailand always required for visa exemption entry if coming by land crossing.

I came in from UK in September on a Non O Retirement 3 month single entry issued at London which runs out on 6 December.I do not think I will be able to extend it although I have enough income it is not easy to prove and I haven't yet opened a bank account in Thailand.I have already had 2 single entry Tourist visas earlier this year issued at Vientiane. So the plan is to go to Laos in December and re enter on a visa exempt which I hope to extend to get me to February next year. After that I hope I can get another tourist visa and extension to see me through to May.My question is, is the plan possible and if entering on a visa exempt at Vientiane do I need to stay overnight or can just to turn around and come back same day.I will carry 20 k cash and home documents but will I need a flight ticked out of Thailand for the end of the 30 days. This would be a waste of money as I hope to extend for a second month.Any help and advice from experienced members would be much appreciated. Many thanks

Thanks that clarifies the point. Sprog71's circumstances differ to my own in so far that he is married. As I don't think telling the IO that I need the extra 60 days to visit my Fiancee will carry any weight, I will go with plan A and get a SETV at Laos at the end of the 90 days.

Your current 90 day stay will end on February 2nd. A week or so before that stays ends you can get a 60 day extension, from your local immigration office, to visit your wife. You will not need to provide any financial information. That extension will take you to April 3rd. Then, on or before April 3rd you can do a border hop and re-enter under visa exemption, which will give you another 30 days and cover the remainder of your stay.
I am still confused .... does this mean that the 90 day single entry Non 0 on retirement, can be extended at the local immigration office for 60 days.

Thanks again ubonjoe. I will be back to Thailand next week on my Non O and will apply for the income letter as soon as there. The immigration office at Mahasarakham are pretty helfull so will try for the year extension. But if that is not possible will get myself to Lao in February for SETA to cover this trip. Then as you say will apply for the OA long stay in London.
Many thanks for you help.

Thanks ubonjoe that that's great. I am relatively new to Thailand and still trying to get my head around all this. The plan is to retire to Thailand eventually but now slowly building a new relationship with my Thai lady.

Thanks for the replies. In view of the present visa climate in Thailand what would be required at Laos either Vientiane or Savannakher to get the the one year extension. I can get the police and health certificates and have the original pension statement. I have an online business that brings the income to over 65k but payments go into Paypal, so can only get an online printout from this. Would that be acceptable.

Following good advice from this forum I have just received a 90 day Single Entry Non Immigrant O on Retirement from the Thai Embassy in London as a better alternative to repeated Tourist visas.I would really like to stay in Thailand 6 months on this trip, so what options are there. Can the 90 day Single Entry Non O be extended at the local immigration office and for how long, orIf I do a visa run to Laos can I get another 90 day single entry there. In London just needed a copy of UK state pension statement, would that be the same in Laos.Any suggestions much appreciated.

Many thanks for the replies, especially mockingbird particularly helpful.I wasn't in Thailand last November or December so the three visas are all in this calendar year.Entered in January, April and August with a total of 205 days, each time flying back to uk and getting the new visa at Thai Embassy in London.I'm 65 and met a new girlfriend in January so have been slowly building the relationship. If refused at BKK I was considering a visa exempt to exit the airport and getting a flight up to Savannakhat and trying there or even getting Non 0-A visa there.

I have been coming to Thailand for the past year on 60 day Single Entry Tourist Visas (three) two of which were extended by 30 days at the local immigration office.I now have a further Tourist Visa issued by the Thai Embassy in London, my question is can immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport refuse entry because of the three previous tourist visas this year showing on their computer.I am taking 20,000 Bhat with me in just in case it is needed.Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your replies ... thats the information I needed. I must get myself a Thai bank account fast and funds transferred from the UK bank. I hope there will be another Covid extension allowed for 60 days from 25 March to give me the time.
