And people pay good money to sit in a hotel room watching the rain, ordering in 7/11 premiere offerings.

This isn't the first time in recent days for this to happen. People are getting desperate, backs against the wall with nothing to lose.

I've adopted a woman, her DNA daughter and her adopted daughter. 10k baht/month will stave off hunger and homelessness. Thailand is one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. I guess how they got that way is shameless greed and selfishness.

The real question is - who is going to come here
Also I suspect Thailand is about to get a red rating from all major western countries - Thailand already rates itself as red
Recently the Philippines shut their doors to travelers coming from Thailand.

if you use your microwave to poach them that will kill anything
It's not the bugs you should be concerned about, it's the heavy metals that microwaving can't remove. I've been using tap water for coffee, tea, and general cooking for years, no ill effects so far. I do draw the line at drinking water. Having a water dispensing machine in the condo complex makes it too easy to keep a healthy supply of drinking water on hand.

The landlord wasn't given the opportunity to return the refund. French man didn't want to wait until the utilities were cleared.

This patchwork approach will only make things worse.

It's the general rule to hold on to the deposit until final utilities are squared up. For the French man to take all these things cuz he "needed the money, right away" is not the landlord's problem.

The condo I used to rent while the owner was trying to sell went from 13 million baht to under 10 million and no one was shopping.

It's no pleasure watching this ski mo disaster unfold from my safe home in the USA. I can't imagine how it is for you expats stuck in the thick of it.

It's dismal. I heard an apt description not long ago - languishing.

I used to teach Pro Tools and Logic, so I'm covered. The coolest thing I just discovered is how to connect an electric keyboard (Roland RD-88) with both audio and usb and get them all to work simultaneously. SUPER layered sound!!!

I just bought a Taylor 214ce Koa acoustic/electric. I haven't had a quality guitar in over 15 years. It's a nice distraction.

Our Pattaya pool and gym shut down hard. Doors locked, no access, can't even sneak in.

I SAW that Facebook ad and thought "This is too good to be true." So should have every person who made the purchase.

Just remember the new rules:

My friends and I are gonna try a Zoom meeting Saturday. All of us will be drinking alcohol. Mwuhahaha!

Also in Pattaya. I usually cook at home. Last night I felt like getting takeout, so I went to the new Taco Bell. Two kids in Taco Bell uniforms, sitting outside Royal Garden said no takeaway, online order only. Same with ALL fast food joints there. I spent an hour driving around looking for ANYTHING. Tesco on Sukhumvit and Thepprasit, the escalator to the upstairs food court wasn't even on. Only one Pizza Company store was open to order, and all they had was an 18" New York style pepperoni pizza - no thank you. I am expecting to see Zombies walking the streets fairly soon.

I wouldn't be completely confident. Possible on offer sinovac or nothing.
That's my concern as well. You get the first shot and throw the dice for the second? No thanks, I'll self isolate until I'm assured to get two (or three?) jabs of good vaccine.

Are these the two we'll never see?

After being a model expat with no company since mid April, I'm glad I took a reckless gamble and had company over on Saturday. You know you had a smashing time/are out of limber when every muscle in your lower body group aches two days later.
I'm not sure we're a dark red province yet (nobel prize in comprehension for anyone still following this Marx Brothers remake) but I'm glad I went all in, I should be good till October, when I'll either be vaxxed or barbequed at a wat.
I used to be on the fringe, about a half dozen of us getting together most Saturdays for beers and laughs. Honest to gawd we're gonna try a Zoom meeting this Saturday.

This comes as no surprise. Those in power closed their eyes, held their breath, then threw the dice. Guess what? Snake eyes, baby!
