  1. Evening gents and lads Last year when my friend moved to Koh Samui from Bkk (due to big lockdowns) she still didnt know the island and she enjoy doing fun youtube videos, we made one together. We came up with a story where she needs to pass like a welcoming ritual and pass some fun challenges to become one of locals. Mostly to show how beautiful samui is. Its been some time but its nice to reflect back last year, when island was isolated. it was chill and clan ???? Have a look and take a trip around our island with Kwang.
  2. To put it simply yes. You can. So far i wasnt turned down from any hotel/resort been to ritz, hyat, anantara, Intercontinental and many many more. Either i go alone or with a friend they dont care as long as you buy some drink at least at the pool and if you feel like being polite you can also ask if its ok to use the pool. if they ask you at the reception if you are staying there just tell them you are going to the bar and restaurant and they smile and tell you to enjoy. and to be polite i always order some food and drinks there while i use the pool. Most places are ok they wont even ask you anything. Just smile be polite and order something. One place i know is charging for using the pool is the Library, they have a fancy red pool that tourists like to take picures in. Also Jungle club dont allow outside guests to use their swimming pool.
  3. You figured it out in the end I see ???? Yeah it might seem a weird choice for this video, but at that time of editing, very very late into the night, it spoke to me. And for me it works. I like sigur ros a lot and they are far from sad. Its hauntingly beautiful. Samui isnt perfect, by any means, but it is still beautiful and filled with so many great places and people.
  4. Hello gents and ladies. I find this video fascinating as it shows post covid life in Chaweng, Koh Samui. I love this place and have been living here for 5 years now. I moved here when it was thriving and it was wild and fun and ten-thousands of new people flooded the island every day. Then C19 came and everything changed. We realized how dependent we were of tourism. Many great people left back to Bangkok or their hometowns, many great places got closed forever, the main walking street got dark and depressing. Still kinda is even now. Yes we have country open and people started to come in. It gives us hope. I see people having fun, restaurants full of people, parties and clubs blasting. and it looks surreal. One year ago one would face jail time caught having a beer with a few friends at his own home. Yes its been a long time of lockdowns and it changed our view of our beloved island. You see people when you stay in a few busy areas, but the soi next door is completely dark. Even beach road is lighten up but only a few hundred meters, the rest is still shut and dark. It will take time to recover, but with so much love people have for this little island I am sure it will become the lovely place we all remember. Hopefully much cleaner and nicer than before ???? Samui unlike other places in thailand is a bit isolated. We have only one private airport which makes it harder to attract tourists both local and international. It is a gem to us, even after all of this. It is very unique island with very unique people and i am not surprised many expats call it their home even after all what happened. A few weeks back i got a few shots of Chaweng beach where you can see life coming slowly back to before empty beaches. I Hope it sparks some nostalgy in some of you and maybe makes you wanna visit our little island again ???? Have a good night everyone, see you in Samui
