  1. I love Thailand, and I am NOT a "sex tourist"... but I'm not sure that Thailand would make a top destination for most "high end" tourists? There are many places to go around the world for big-spenders, Thailand certainly has some areas that would fit, but I think what primarily makes Thailand such a popular tourist destination is NOT high-end ritzy sites. This would be shooting for a totally different market, which from an economic standpoint would be, in all probability, a costly mistake.
  2. The early evidence is showing he's probably right. And we know the vaccines work... basically any deaths from Covid at this point are from the un-vaccinated. So again, he's probably correct, get vaccinated.
  3. We're considering the Tourist Visa, which gives 60 days, plus an extension of 30 days apparently. However it says a round trip plane ticket is required for the visa, I assume for exiting the country in 60 days? so does this mean we have to pay all the ridiculous expense of changing our ticket if we get the extension? What's the trick? is there a trick?
  4. I know this is an old question...but are they still offering the METV Visa? If so, can anyone clarify how long I can stay in the country with this? Including extentions, etc?
  5. They just can’t drop the ASQ thing…. and most countries allow the quick test… results in 15 minutes, this would eliminate the stupid ASQ. And for those still hung up on the idea “you can test neg and still have it” …. get OVER it, chances are almost nil… time to get on with life, this is NOT the plague!
  6. I've been in Italy for over 2 months now, (I'm a US citizen).... since I cannot get the "Green Pass" I just show my white CDC Vaccination Card when entering and it's gotten me in just about everywhere. especially tourist areas that are aware of this.
  7. As usual, much cynicism from much the same group of people. The reality is that Thailand will continue to be one of the places people want to retire to, as the country still has the things retirees want. Is it perfect, of course not. And you would think, from listening to this same old group of grumps, that Thailand is the only country in the world that Covid screwed up. Silly. Once the world adjusts to Covid as the new normal, Thailand will be back to being Thailand... a special place. For those that disagree, please feel free to let the rest of us in on all those "perfect" places to retire to instead of Thailand, I'd love to hear about them!
