  1. Is anyone aware if agents can arrange for professional translation of marriage documents (Australian divorce certificate and Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage issued by the embassy) and submit to the Ministry of Consular Affairs in Bangkok?

I travelled to BKK to do so, but after collecting the documents from my embassy couldn't arrange immediate translation and get to MFA in time.

I detest BKK driving, an agent would be my best option if it is possible. Appreciate any constructive advice thanks.

The cost of electricity in Thailand is cheap. The UK is now about ฿17/kWh.

T.O.U. rate overnight in Thailand is ฿2.6/kWh

Please - if you wish to contribute information spell out acronyms and abbreviations so the broad readership understands your comment.

Agreed on the ring road idea.

I do not totally agree that the Pran Buri - Cha Am By-pass Road is a Hua Hin Ring Road.  The By-pass Road is great for traffic travelling from south of Pran Buri to north of Cha Am, and visa-a-versa., but not for those wishing to travel between south and north Hua Hin.

A ring road connecting south Hua Hin, say from Soi 112, to north Hua Hin, say around the aiport or Hua Hin Hospital area, would alleviate most of the congestion along Phetchakasem Road in Hua Hin city.

Agree ... Such a lost opportunity, could have put a road alongside the railway tracks when developing the dual-rail fast train project. There seems to be available land along many sections of the rail line and some short stretches of minor roads currently exist for short lengths.

The city planning officials could help in the short term by synchronising traffic lights on Phetkasem Rd. It's frustrating to wait three cycles to get through Soi 70 lights only to travel mere metres before joining the line waiting at the next set.

But hospital admissions are not increasing dramatically.

Australian cases nearly doubled over night but hospital admissions only up slightly and ICU and ventilator case were down marginally.

If Thailand follows a trajectory similar to Australia then their health system will cope

The jury is still well and truly out on this. The NSW government has, before children are largely vaccinated or the population can access booster vaccines, chosen the Let It Rip policy, encouraged by the Federal government.

Christmas Day was a huge super-spreader event. The wave of infections will only now be starting to show in the stats. What will not show is the number of people being infected, not requiring hospitalisation, but unable to work. Hospitals are already facing staff shortages as people succumb to the extraordinary burden placed on them by Covid-19. Many have resigned or retired, burnt out. Many of those still working are dog-tired, on the edge of puling the pin too. And many will be victims of the virus, spreading it to co-workers and staying at home to isolate or to recover from symptoms. Either way hospitals don't function without health care workers from doctors to janitors. Elective surgery and other 'not yet life-threatening' surgeries are already being cancelled/postponed.

Tomorrow New Years Eve will produce yet another super-spreader event.

So holding up Australia's response to Omicron as a shining beacon to other nations is a very questionable call.

The would not accept your application since it requires 12 months of transfers to prove the income part of the combination option.

Somewhat related ..... I returned to Thailand, plan to use the 65K baht per month into Thailand option for extension this November, however my December payment had a shortfall of 7K. I realised the error and transferred additional funds 30 Dec but it got caught up in high current  international transfers and public holidays and didn't arrive into my Thai account until 4 January. Transfers have satisfied the 65k requirement since then.

Do you think this will satisfy IO if I bring copies of 7K transfer sent and bank book showing receipt into account 4 January? Any comments appreciated.

When you have completed the course, there's about a 99% probability you won't die nor end up in a hospital. For me, that's a huge relief. Though I still wear a mask and social distance.

    Congrats!

    Good for you J. ????

I'm booked for Monday next. Same experience with registration as others - no confirmation email was received, however I emailed Medpark after 4 days and received a confirmation and important details.

It's worth noting that vaccination does not prevent you from acquiring the virus so you can still spread it if you don't continue to observe social distancing, mask-wearing etc.

The huge advantage is (as noted by a member above) that sickness and one's risk of dying is very much minimised.

I just got this message from Kaiser Permanente.

    Dear XXXXXXX,

In the past year, you, your family, and our communities have endured many challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even with increasing numbers of people getting vaccinated, the pandemic is not yet over. I'm writing to encourage you to schedule your COVID-19 vaccine to protect you from serious illness. The vaccines are very safe and effective. Side effects are generally mild to moderate and usually go away after 2 days.

At Kaiser Permanente and other vaccination sites, the vaccine is available at no cost. We want to reassure you that we never share your personal information with outside agencies. We don't ask about immigration status. Getting fully vaccinated helps protect everyone, including individuals with high-risk medical conditions and vulnerable populations from COVID-19, including Latinos/Latinx, Black/African Americans, and others.

If you have questions or concerns about the vaccine, please visit COVID-19 vaccine facts.

You can conveniently schedule your vaccine by visiting COVID-19 vaccine info or calling 866-454-8855.

If you received your vaccine at a location outside of Kaiser Permanente, please go to COVID-19 vaccine questionnaire and complete the brief COVID-19 vaccination questionnaire to update your medical record with this information. You can also provide us with your Covid vaccine dates and type (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) so that we can update your medical records for you. If possible, please send a photo of your vaccination card.

As always, we want to encourage preventative health. Please view your health screenings on this link My Health Reminders.

I wish you and your loved ones the very best of health. You can make a difference in helping end the pandemic.

    Sincerely,

    Your care team

For those who had no idea, like me, I googled it.

Kaiser Permanente is a consortium of profit and non-profit entities in the US who provide managed care/health services.

It is just a money grab. They'll try to do everything to squeeze you, but you can squeeze back. Don't pay any tips in restaurants, massages, etc until the tips withheld reach 600 baht. If someone complains tell them to email Mr Phiphat about their "unforeseen problems or hardships".

So you want to screw all those small businesses who provide us and tourists with the services you require, whose profit margin is miniscule and the poorly paid staff who rely on tips to get by - simply to seek revenge on the idiotic government decision that seems imminent?

<deleted>!  The world is awash with money grabs, however seeking revenge by punishing those with no skin in the game is ludicrous.

Just about every statement you've made is so wrong its obvious you just don't get it so I'll not bother debating with you.

Debating the dual-pricing issue won't fix it.

It exists and won't change without a significant proposal to government by those with expertise in such things - and the will to pursue it.

Don't want to pay for the test? There are many other equally attractive places to visit here in Thailand that don't require the test. Simple.

  10. The article below advises the availability of medical cannabis at Hospitals 3 and 5 in Hua Hin, but does not elaborate on what hospitals are 3 and 5. Obviously Hua Hin Public Hospital (pictured) is one of 3 or 5. Grateful if someone could enlighten me with names and locations.

I have been treated with CBD/THC oil in my home country for peripheral neuropathic pain and arrived back in HH just prior to removal of cannabis from the prohibited drugs list by the Thai Narcotics Control Board. I didn't wish to risk bringing some in and end up in a Thai prison. Now desperately short of the medication.

    cheers,

Under current coronavirus travel restrictions, Australians are only allowed to leave the country for official business or compassionate personal reasons.

You may also leave if you are considered an 'overseas resident', that is - you have lived overseas longer than in Australia in the preceding two years. Getting a flight to Thailand may be problematic.

The answer is unknown at this point. But as the existing ‘rules’ stand a minimum of 65K every month is required, and there is no mention allowing for an average.

IMO they will insist on 12 transfers, and we will have to wait and see if they accept an average. I can’t see them accepting the example you give.

Agree, however there isn't a stipulation to meet the minimum monthly transfer of 65K via a single transaction. So they may insist on a minimum 12 international transfers (one for each month), but it could equally be more than one transfer per month or more - provided that the sum of transfer in a month equals or exceeds the magic 65K baht.

Question ..... is month defined as calendar or 28 days? I suspect the I/O will want calendar months when regular revenue streams such as pensions are often disbursed in 14 or 28 day increments.

Apologies if the question question has previously been raised ......

Give TransferWise a go. Dunno about AUD and Oz, but those of us transferring from USA using TW shows as "International Transfer".

I transfer from Australia to the Bangkok Bank using TW ... it's the same, shows as International Transfer.

I rarely plug financial institutions of any kind, however TW deserve a look - they bypass bank fees, charge about 1% fee per transaction and exchange rates are generally at, and sometimes above the real-time rate. They advise the rate you will receive prior to you pressing the Go button to authorise any transfer transaction.

Come on, there is so little to fill in on this form a ball point pen would be quicker than filling in on your PC. You would still have to change the date.

At Phitsanulok I do not even need this form...passport in reader machine, out comes the sheet to go in my passport.

When I did my Extension in December, the Immgration girl asked if I would NOT fill it out (in?) on PC but do it by hand next time.

Haha - Different strokes for different Immigration Officers!  I prefer computer-generated text over my scrawl, but will be sure to increase the font size for readability.....

And as for no need for the form you are most fortunate to have such obliging Immigration staff. ????
