  1. We travelled back to the UK on Sunday night (18th July) through Schipol via KLM.

No issues. Just needed our negative test and PLF at check in.

These were checked again before being allowed to board the final flight to Newcastle, but, again, no issue.

Not sure if any of that will change when Netherlands put Thailand on their Red list on the 24th.

It shouldn't do, but best to check with them.

If you're travelling through Dubai, you'll need to book a quarantine hotel before you travel.

  2. Just thought anyone who's returning to the UK might find this info useful.

The cheapest Day 2&8 home test kit I could find from the UK gov list was Dantelabs.

    https://dantelabs.co.uk/

The kit came in at £84 with free shipping. (some are still charging double that)

There was a cheaper company at £70 but the form didn't work, so I gave up and went with Dante.

    Hope someone finds it useful.

    Safe travels all !

Before the virus, I would fly to Scotland via  Amsterdam or Dubai, but I'm not sure I could do that now.

Amsterdam is fine. Dubai is on the Red list so hotel quarantine required.

    For those that need the info;

The next announcement about Amber/Red list countries is due on Thursday 15th July.

Any changes would take effect from Wednesday 21st July.

To travel to the UK whilst Thailand is on the Amber list you need:

A negative test within 72 hours of your final departure flight time to the UK.

Pre-booked Day 2&8 Covid tests (if you shop around you can get it down to around £100)

Fill in the Passenger Locator Form. stating where you will self isolate for 10 days.

To travel to the UK if Thailand goes onto the Red list is pretty much the same apart from having to pre-book a quarantine hotel at a cost of £1650 (or £2600 for a couple)

All the info is on the UK Governemnt website.

And that even been fully vaccinated

If you have been fully vaccinated, YOU should be protected aginst the severe symptoms of the Coronavirus (Covid 19).

You would, however, still be able to carry it and pass it to others.

Theoretically, not a problem if everyone around you has been vaccinated, but viruses just don't work that way and find a way of spreading.
