It is also a concern as they could have shed the virus while on the flight, while in Suvarnabhumi, and in transit to the ASQ. Be interesting to see how long since they arrived in the country. I am sure they are also actively checking out anyone who had contact with them as well. A mad scramble I am sure. Yes I agree, once this strain hit the news all flights should have been canceled, but the Thai's are so concerned with getting their own people home and a few tourists/long term stay families as well.
You say it like it's a bad thing that Thailand allows Thai people and their family members into the country.

why would you think Thailand is special in this regard? It's a world wide problem, to suggest otherwise smacks of racism..
What a load of bull. Saying that statistics can not be different depending on country is completely ignorant. It IS a world wide problem, yes, but some countries are worse than others.

I'm guessing Thailand is not special in regards of drunk driving as well? It's a world wide problem after all, we've got them here in Europe too.

Ok lets cut the
<deleted>nonsense here; 1,2 billion baht divided by an average of 40,000 baht per person for quarantine (as most were Thais it is probably a lot less) means that at least 30,000 people went through. In the last 3 months that is at least 1,000 people arriving per day... Didn't happen!Article says 4 months, but even if there were just 3 months, thats 90 days and not 30 days? Or am I missing something here?

All the ones on the tgia COVID list will.
These are Thai companies and automatic hospitalization if positive is assumed.
Note that we don't have any actual reports of anyone's coverage being denied because they were asymptomatic and the usual level of detail supplied by Thai hospitals to insurance companies is sketchy in the extreme, usually just diagnosis and proposed treatment. Presence/absence of symptoms would thus not be flagged and would come to light only if the insurance company probed into the matter. Which might or might not occur.
I've looked at their website, since my planned travel is for 3.5 months i'm being charged like 6 months... Will probably opt for a Dutch company that covers my whole family for half the price. Just need to make sure I thoroughly read the fine print first. ????

???? Okay mate. -
Good to know. So is there a list or from experience of others which insurer will cover asymptomatic hospitalization? I'm orientating since we (wife, kid and I) plan to head to Thailand in Januari so it'd be good to know which insurers to aim for! ????

They would have reduced the target in 2020 because of Covid.
So they have only just passed their drastically reduced target for 2020. A less than 2% increase on a much lower figure is hardly 'roaring'.
This is true. And seems like they also just change the target mid/end year. Like how they reduced 2019s target of 2.15m to 2m in September 2019.

How is it they suddenly have a vaccine for covid-19...a VIRUS apparently with many strains ...and they don't have a vaccine for AIDS yet! Makes one wonder...right? I will NOT be getting this vaccine if I have a choice...!
There is no grand conspiracy behind the reason for this. HIV is a very particular virus since it targets the very cells that are supposed to protect us from viral infections. There are plenty of sources on the internet explaining why it is so difficult to find a vaccin for HIV. On top of that there might be a difference in funding as HIV is not a global pandemic that forces us to wear rubbers wherever we go in public. Being (one of the first) companies to find a succesful COVID-19 vaccin will be probably like winning the jackpot.- 1

As far as merits and honors go, Trump did not start any wars. Converting hatred, vindictiveness and toxicity into a memorial will take some doing.
Probably the only reason why Iran did not escalate further after the assassination of one of their Generals is because they accidently shot a civil airplane out of the sky full of their own right when covid happened. He did not start any wars, but he sure as hell tried his best.

What, China the country which has the most extensive and reliable high speed network in the world? 36,000 kms of high speed rail which is more than two thirds of the world's total network.
Or are you just a usual TVF "made in China must be bad" basher? The most reliable high speed network? What PRC propaganda website do you get your information from?
Japanese Shinkansen has had what, 1 death ( a suicide) in it's whole history? The same cant be said of the Chinese counterpart.

The conspiracy theorists are stirring again. These Covid-19 Myanmar truck drivers popped up late last week before these protests. Even if they were going to make things up to control the Bangkok situation, why on earth chose Tak when they could have the coronavirus slip in unnoticed via the international airport or any one of the ASQ's in the city?
"Before these protests."??
You do realize everyone knew there would be protests weeks ago right? Also the actual start of these protests was early 2020. This is just a continuation.Using the international airport as the entry of covid would ruin their tourism fantasies.

How brilliant- build a hi speed rail that misses all the places north of Bkk that might make it worthwhile. To be viable in Thailand it needs to connect Chiang Mai and main cities southward to Bkk.
Could it be possible that those routes are part of different trajects?

Yes, you quite right. So far this year roughly 3585 covid cases and that is from an enemy you cannot see or spray.
So yes, I still cannot understand the covid panic other than it's a plan.
BTW: Influenza & Pneumonia 33,808 death sofar in Thailand this year according to WHO.
Year count about 45,000. ????
Other than it's a plan? Do not fear, as long as you keep on your aluminium hat you are safe. ????????
Surely even you must understand that the only reason that number is at 59 is because of the lockdown?
I am by no means pro-lockdown. But this picture you're showing is completely irrelevant. Serves no purpose whatsoever other than convincing yourself of your own lunacy.

Far as I know they don't execute people in the UK, so she can get angry but it's misguided, IMO.
Just because in our native countries they don't have the death penalty does not make us all against them. We don't have it in the Netherlands too but had any of my family members been murdered I can assure you i'd hope we did execute murderes.
Since the death penalty was actually an option for the murderers of her parents I can understand why she'd be angry.- 2

22 billion baht is not a lot of money.
That superpower is massively in debt, Thailand is not.
I really can't see what the fuss is about.
Had these been different time's i'd agree with you. But when the Thai economy is falling as hard as it is now because of the global pandemic buying a bunch of useless subs is very irresponsible. Spend the money to help those within Thailand in dire need instead. Bt 22b is not a lot of money, but it can help out a lot of people. Remember Thailand was supposed to have money to help those that lost their jobs. Only the money was suddenly gone. Probably fell into deep pockets somewere. so it's only a fair trade to give this money back to the people. ????

First do not call and electric motor an engine. Second, the Chinese are not going to let you in. Third, China has 450 electric car companies. Thailand will be buying from China. Just ask Jack Ma.
Quoteen·gine | \ ˈen-jən \Definition of engine
(Entry 1 of 2)
1: a machine for converting any of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motionQuotehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine
An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert one form of energy into mechanical energy.[1][2] Heat engines, like the internal combustion engine, burn a fuel to create heat which is then used to do work. Electric motors convert electrical energy into mechanical motion, pneumatic motors use compressed air, and clockwork motors in wind-up toys use elastic energy. So why should he not call an electric motor an engine? When both the dictionary and wikipedia define a electric motor as an engine?
It's not a combustion engine, but as far as I know noone is calling electric motor's combustion engines.

all flight booking sites still have flights from Europe to Thailand and vice versa available, but the reality is that none are flying, the only airline that will be making any money will be Thai Airways, which if I am not mistaken is now mostly owned by the Thai Government!!!!! Great impartial work from the Government,,,,,,
Reality is actually that KLM is, and always has been flying. I recently got back to Amsterdam on a KLM flight. You can even google the flight nr and see that there are daily flights scheduled, and actually leave on time. In this age its not rocket science to try and track flights.

Basically 3000-4000 people have lost their jobs or income for every 1 death (death rate being 1 in 12,000 !). Personally I think that the numbers just don't add up any more. Open up, wear a mask, get on with it.
How did you get 0.00008% based on 688k deaths on a 7.8b world population? 1/12000 however is 0.008%, which is the right answer to how much of the world pop died (based on worldometer stats)
The numbers don't add up now, because drastic measures have flattened the curve. Since you said you think all countries did a bad job i'm assuming you know exactly all measures each and every country took. So i'm very curious to what you think what would be the right way to deal with the situation.

Being considerate of animal welfare does not mean you have to be a vegan. Not sure where your twisted logic comes from. I eat meat, does not mean I don't care about the life quality of animals.

The world is hardly getting destroyed by Covid-19. Disrupted at best. In some aspects you could argue some of these 'changes' aren't too bad too. Less aviation for example.
When i'm back in TH i'm defeniatly gonna try to visit his animal sanctuary.- 1

You think the police anywere asks people if they are naturalized when they arrest non-native looking people? They tend to just ask for ID, which will make it clear wether they are dealing with foreigners or nationals.
