No mention of the agent who charged them all 5,000Baht to get the 'massage' jobs.

OneMoreFarang said "P.S.: I don't know about the individuals in this case and maybe they didn't know what expected them and maybe they were all innocent"..... Considering this statement from him I suggest we flush the rest of his commentary as he admitted he didn't know. Another case of "let's blame the women" without having any facts. Just opinions. I'm so glad that guy isn't a judge. God forbid what the outcome would be for so many with the way that guys mind works..

Lemme get this straight...Your comparing a 1.3 BILLION India Population with 70 million Thai Population?

Secondly take a look at some India FACTS

    19.5 MILLION Cases

    215k deaths??? Where's the beef??

    "215k deaths??? Where's the beef??".....

Your opinion would be different if one of those 215k were a family member of yours. So easy to lose a grasp on reality when it's some unknown person who dies.

It's called will power and really wanting to make a change in your life. I'm talking from experience HF. I drank nearly every day for 39 years. Sometimes 3 - 4 beers and later in life 12 - 18. One day I just said "enough". I was healthy but not as health as I could have been. I have money but not as much as I could have had. I just decided one day to "turn the page" so to speak and never had a desire for alcohol again in my life. I "was" an alcoholic but never considered myself one. I drank a lot and no one was the wiser. Even at lunch when I was working.  I wanted my life to be better and knew that giving up alcohol would quickly add to my quality of life. So, I'm not just talking off the cuff. I lived it. As I said, I never had any desire for alcohol after I "turned the page". I lost 10 lbs after the first 2 weeks. I felt more invigorated to lose more and I did. I feel better than I have in 20+ years. My thoughts are clearer. My skin and eyes look totally different. My eyes are not bloodshot to varying degrees anymore but pure white. If I can do it so can others. You just have to decide what you want for yourself and how important you are in this world and to yourself. Up to you.

I should add that I worked in a very stressful technical position for 35+ years. I climbed the ladder of success quite easily and excelled while all the time being a highly functioning alcoholic. Like I said, no one had any idea. When a group of us went out for beers after work I made sure I had a 12 pack at home to continue with. I just got to the point where I decided I was more important than alcohol. I now exercise at the gym 4 - 5 days a week and run or walk 3 - 6 miles depending on the day. I haven't been in this good of shape since my mid 30's. It all comes down to willpower. Like I said before, if I could do it many others can too. They just need to decide to do so.

Why don't you post that reply under every thread? Then we can close this forum. I had no idea it was so easy for everybody.

"Cut down on your alcohol intake, everybody!". Job done. They might as well shut down all the AA meetings too, now that you've shared your amazing insight with us all.

We could cure drug addiction worldwide if only "HuskerDo" would appear on TV and say "Stop taking drugs, everybody!". So long as we have "HuskerDo" here to state the bleeding obvious, we could solve all of society's problems.

A lot...Anyway KOd or not you'd get a slap or a mouthful of abuse!

"A lot..."... that might be true if you're talking about someone who's about to pass out anyway from all the drinking.

BTW, "a slap or a mouthful of abuse" is what a person could expect from a female. Just sayin.....

If the idiots hadn't voted to leave the EU it would be over 55 baht to the £ now

Another "what if". A woulda, coulda, shoulda situation. Why talk about things that are done and over with? You can't change the situation.

What if the doctor hadn't cut that nerve when he was operating on me? What if I still had all my hair? What if all women found me stunningly handsome? What if the idiots hadn't voted to leave the EU? Who cares. It is what it is. You'll have to deal with it.

Yes, if they really wanted to prevent a bank run then its not logical to do keep topping them up. I guess the guy who talked about a bank run is a bit out of touch with reality. I think he can stand in line with the rest of those who constantly keep saying the baht is going to crash.

I think it might go down, but have no clue when or how long. It certainly is not imminent and will not be huge like before. Just my two cents id be suprised if the baht comes to 35 to a dollar or 40 to a euro. I would be really happy but i think its not realistic.

" if the baht comes to 35 to a dollar or 40 to a euro".....

If it happens OH what a great time to transfer money there.

    Another brainless unjustified decision.

Only good to create more panic/fear.

Nothing worse than rumors of "bank closing" which could be misunderstood.

This is why you withdraw money on a regular basis when you don't need it and then stash it at home "just in case".

Yes, this and things like RAID sprayed around the doors, baseboards and windows will work wonders against the pests. I wonder why so many would rather allow them in and then complain about it.

All rubbish about treatments!!!! I know where 2 people in an apartment near me having COVID 19, informed the govt hospital but no pickup and the reason was because the beds are full!!! They are a poor couple... so money no honey!!! The real infection, in treatment patients and deaths are TOTALLY UNDERSTATED!!! If you have the money.... Thai or foreigner - get the shots if you can afford it!!!! No use talking about - DO IT!!!

If you do get a shot make sure it isn't from a Chinese company. One of their top medical folks came out a few days ago stating that the China vaccine had a poor effective rate(far lower than advertised). Soon after his comments the govt removed all his comments from social media and everywhere else. I'd like to know what happened to this brave soul. Probably awaiting execution for making China look bad instead of being praised for his commitment to his profession.

Consumer prices in the US for March will be out tomorrow. I'll let you know how they look. I still think the path of least resistance is to the upside.

Consumer prices in the US for March were up 0.6% versus the expected 0.5%. Year over year prices are up 2.6%. That's good for my Social Security and pension increases next year.

So, the upshot of all of these 7 pages is that none of us really know what the future holds! You could live to 100.

Or end up diagnosed with a terminal disease tomorrow, or as happened very recently to a friend ended up having an accident on his mountain bike and dead at 65!

I just ran the numbers on the ssa website.

    The numbers for me:

    62: $1871

    64: $2151

    66: $2667

    70: $3362

So I'm figuring I'll head for the middle ground at 64.

Not a chance in Hell I'm leaving it until 70, but the difference between full entitlement at 66 and 64, seems a worthwhile bargain

A bit lower than mine but not by much($100 or so at 62). I looked at what I'd be getting at age 70 and figured I'd be secure at that point even if I had no savings or other retirement/pension income  but I did have both of those things. Ultimately I asked myself if I had enough to live a good life at 62 with everything or should I wait. It took no time to figure out that enjoying a stress free life at 62 while waking up whenever I did and not have to rush off to deal with arrogant a-holes and clueless management was the route I'd take. NO regrets. When the occasional call came with people from work asking how to fix a problem I'd simply respond.... "I don't work there anymore. Had I been treated better I might have stayed but at this point I can't and won't help you do my old job".   Felt good!

For anyone not working, or working and earning less than about $18K a year it makes little sense to not start collecting at 62.

VERY true. I worked for about a year after starting my SS. They took less than 10% out of my paycheck for taxes and I got it all back when I filed. It was just a part-time job but having another $300 a week was nice. Gave it all up when Covid arrived. $300 a week wasn't enough to get me out in the public again.

You can do the estimation of your benefits on this page. https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/retirement/estimator.html

You do not have to register for "My Social Security" to do the estimate.

In the past you could not access "My Social Security" outside of the US. They said they were working on a way to allow such a thing but not sure if it's been implemented yet or what the workaround would be.  They have some very good security on that site so you should feel safe using it even from afar.

    Call her pretty ?

Indeed she is. Walk to the nearest mirror and take a look. If what you see is attractive to you then read the following.....

Psychology research shows that people, overall, tend to rate themselves as more physically attractive than strangers rate them. However, it seems that not everyone overestimates their attractiveness to an equal degree. A series of studies conducted by researcher Tobias Greitemeyer explored the possibility that unattractive people are more likely to hold exaggerated ideas of their attractiveness than attractive people are.

Ridiculous.  US Bureau of Labor Statistics gives a the 12-month change through Feb. 2021 as 1.7%.

    https://www.bls.gov/cpi/

But maybe your methodology is superior to that used by the BLS?

Common sense tells a person the inflation they are feeling in their lives and in what they buy. If you can't remember what a loaf of bread  or a set of new tires for your car or a gallon of milk or a box of cereal cost you last year you need to write it down each year. ANYONE's methodology is better that the BLS as they include things in their calculation that a lot of folks don't buy. Inflation is a person by person and family by family equation.

"US Bureau of Labor Statistics gives a the 12-month change through Feb. 2021 as 1.7%"..... until they makes their adjustments. Producer prices have gone up 1.3%. 0.5% and 1.0% the first three months of this year. The year over year increase for March compared to one year ago is 4.2%.
