  1. 1. ONE completed TM7 - 2 pictures. 2. Proof of funds. 400K for I think it has to be in your bank for 2 months before and a month after your application or something like that. Bank Letter + Bank Book. The bank letter/book must be updated the SAME DAY AS THE APPLICATION. Some offices like to see a transaction on the day too. 3. Photos of you and your wife around the house. One with you outside clearly showing the House Number and 2 inside the house. 4. Marriage certificate and updated Kor Ror 2 5. Wife’s ID and House Book 6. Driver’s License (photocopied) 7. Map to your residence. 8. Passport and departure card (photocopied) 9. House book/Copy of rental agreement or lease
  2. 33+ years here, never, not once ever had a problem.
  3. There are some very very gullible people out there .....
  4. Apologies for the late reply. Age gap 5 years, married in 1992 which made me 29 and the Mrs born 1967, so 26. Next? 3 years difference.
  5. It must be so satisfying to be in a long term loving and trustful relationship. I feel sorry for you, really do.
  6. The opening post reads like a thinly veiled advertisement for some housing development, that's all. First visited NST in 1991, married a local lass and lived there for over 20 years. No airport back then, 2 domestic Thai prop jobs from DMK a week dodging the cows and landing in the army base.
  7. Tinder her is online Soi 6, you take your picks.
  8. Been married here to an absolute diamond for over 30 years, look in the gutter, you get the dregs. Your choice.
  9. Having had a couple of resorts and dealing with all the booking companies, most of whom seem to be part of just one group. 18% commission is / was the base rate. To get higher on their pages you, the hotelier could increase the amount of commission you paid. A lot of the big 4/5* places pay commission believe it or not of up to 50%
  10. A deep water canal is the only way this will work (via a mountain range). Transshipping is time consuming and not cost effective at all. If you (Thailand) can't build a deep water canal you are on a loser. Time, cost et al etc means that the Malacca Straits/Singapore will be a lot cheaper and presumably much quicker. Much more efficient and mush more cost effective. Get digging is all I can say!
  11. Didn't Shania have a daughter called ChooChoo?
  12. Yes and yes. Lived there (central/southern) through the 60s and 70s and have returned every 2 or 3 years since. Love the place, the diversity, the scenery ... everything.
  13. Quality tourists will follow this tread with interest me thinks. 😄

    Udon to Nan

Yes, I did it a few years ago. Took the main 210 from Udonthani to Loei, nothing spectacular. On passing Loei and having plenty of time, I decided to take the 'scenic' route to Nan. So I turned off at Phu Ruea and went that way. Sorry, can't remember the road numbers as was using an old road atlas. The idea was to follow as closely as I could to the Thai/Laos border for as long as I could. Would I take that route again, probably not. Small isolated roads, some in extremely bad condition, landslides, no other traffic (climbed over a mountain and back down), saw no one except for one guy tending his herd and no fuel stops. Good for an adventure to do once, maybe good for a bunch of bikers (on off-road/adventure bikes) but in my case, driving a Vigo, never again. Ended up emerging just south of Nan.
  15. Chumphon, Surat, Nakhonsri, Ranot, Songkhla, Hatyai, Dannock is the route I'd do. Mostly flat, scenic and a lot shorter than going over to the west side.
  16. Samui and the islands. Phuket. Pattaya et al next? Some 'home owners' must be bricking it at the moment.
  17. 1. Hope the young lady recovers. 2. While in my eyes car at fault, family should also take some blame for letting her ride a scooter on a public highway. 3. When lights turn green, always double check to see if it's clear to go.

    Moving to Korat

Go where your gut tells you where to go, not your heart, sorted!
  19. There are no trains to Ranong, long bus journey (from Bangkok) or a short flight to Ranong airport, situated 22km south of Ranong Town. Once is Ranong, head to Sapaan Pla I think it was called from memory and you can get a boat to Koh Phayam from there. Take cash. there were no ATMs there last time I went, albeit quite a few years ago. Enjoy..

  21. Why not drive down to Penang, it's not far, not difficult and you'll have transport once you get there to get around?
  22. Having been the owner many Toyota Pick-ups in Thailand (2 x Mighty X, 3 x SR5, 1 x 2.9 import and 3 x Vigo) both 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive, I have always considered myself to be a Toyota man. However, a few months ago, I was walking through one of the local shopping malls and Ford were doing a promotion on their, at the time new Next Gen Rangers. They had a model on display that I just fell in love with straight away, looked at it, sat in it, asked a few questions and I was taken with it. On leaving the shopping mall, I decided to call in at the Ford Dealership just down the road and was allowed a couple of test-drives. First model I was given was the Raptor (1.7M+) Yes nice, very nice with more than enough power but with a very hefty price tag that I could not justify spending on a pick-up truck. Next, the Wildtrack (1.3M+) .... again very nice, 4wd which I didn't really want/need and a bi-turbo engine. Looked around the showroom and there was an XLT (<1M) on display. Enquired about that, got details, another test-drive and it was the vehicle for me. Only 2L Turbo, 6 speed A/T, more powerful than my previous 2.5 Vigo which only had 4 speed A/T and far far better equipped. I said I wanted one in Black and they added quite a few extras more than usual (due to their promotion). 2/3 days later Ford delivered it to my address personally and I became the proud owner of, dare I say it, a Ford. Had it 7/8 months now, not one problem at all with it and still very happy with the vehicle indeed. Good or bad, I know they get stick off some people but if you're into pick-ups here, what are your opinions compared to what else is out there?
