  1. Geez that's frightening. They ought to remove all soi dogs. Any unclaimed dog either gets claimed immediately by those who so love them, all others take em out. Human lives are worth more than dangerous dogs.
  2. The guy was doing a public service and should be rewarded not punished.
  3. Huh. First I heard of this 2 month scam, and I visited several language schools within the last 6 months. Each and every one said 3 months per extension. So this is not old news nor what the language schools are promising. Those looking to the ED visa to stay longer now must ask themselves "what's the point?" You can take a fun cheap vacation to a neighboring country for a lot less than any school's tuition, and return to a visa exempt then extend for that same 1900 baht. Way more adventurous and fun too, gives us a chance to explore and fall in love with some other country who seems to want us more anyways.
  4. Awww! It's very sweet how she's smiling at the end, while others tend to her. I expected a more grisly ending. She's gonna be just fine. What an experience to walk away from. Really nice to see her smiling.
  5. Looks like you need to re-read the word "deflection"... His whole point was that they are different issues
  6. I toyed with the rather archaic official train website after getting frustrated with the 12goAsia site. What I discovered was if you are booking last minute, you need to go to the station, all availability is not posted online. And if you want the best first class, you need to book in advance. Seat61.com is Gospel for riding trains.
  7. Why do my posts double post? Mods, feel free to remove the doubles lol
  8. I had an ulcer that 98% of the time was NOT pain, FYI. Pork should be stayed away from, period. ESPECIALLY for people with digestive issues. Flagyl is hardcore stuff and should only be used in dire situations. Antibiotics in general wreak havok with your digestive system. Naturopaths will caution using them and recommend high doses of probiotics to try to keep gut floura healthy during antibiotic use. Consider them a last resort. Find out what's wrong first. Or just amaze yourself and try a radical diet shift- anti-inflammatory diet, no meat, no sugar, no fried foods, no dairy, no wheat, no alcohol- that's what will cure many digestive issues. Let your food be your medicine...

  10. Shame so many places still believe locking up users is a good answer. Time to evolve, people. BTW, I just came from Samui. Priciest place I've seen in Thailand except for massages. For some reason 200 baht massages are everywhere. The songtaew's do tend to try to pry as much money as they can from you. Aggressive taxis shouting at me nonstop. And I have never been propositioned so much anywhere else. To which I say "ugh." Felt I was viewed more as a walking ATM there than anywhere else I've been yet. Eating out costs more, lodging more. All in contrast to, say, Koh Pha Ngan right nearby. The beaches were nice but overrun with tourists, development everywhere you look. I had fun but seen it once is good enough for me. I'll revisit Ko Pha Ngan and Koh Lanta but pass on Samui next time.
  11. Why? Because there are some strange concepts called 'fun' and 'a good time' and some people like to have them...
  12. Visa hassles i can handle, hot weather no problem. Clueless burning and toxic clouds, however, and I'm gone...
  13. My impression of health care professionals (in the US anyways) is that the vast majority mean well, but are not as informed as I would like regarding things like naturopathic approaches and Eastern medicine. But I tend to "trust" the opinion of the one who tells me I have the best chance at recovery! I seek optimistic opinions.
