  1. You can use any auth app, it doesn't need to communicate with anything after setup. The extra security benefit it the 'something you have' part of authentication.

The key stays on your phone and together with the current time it comes up with a predictable number the server can verify.

Recording a bunch of numbers doesn't help you deduct the key, so you will need to hold the actual device (unlocked) in order to identify yourself. It's a nice extra layer of protection beyond just a password which regularly gets stolen :)

There are three common factors used for authentication:

    • Something you know (such as a password)
    • Something you have (such as a smart card)
    • Something you are (such as a fingerprint or other biometric method)

  2. Try re-seating it (yank it out, clean the connector with a soft brush, firmly press it back in), and/or try a different HDMI port. Looks like a bad contact.

If not, you can do a factory reset, online info points at maybe an issue with the HDR setting.

  3. Just wondering if there's an actual need for a push button at all (I understand with the given lowish resistance given), but why not permanently wire in a 1K or so resistor 1/4W and a red LED? This will trickle charge the caps on the inverter, and all failure modes are accounted for:

    - Short: LED is bright

    - Resistor bypassed: LED fails open

If you're paranoid you can add a car fuse 5A or so.

Mind you for me 5V is the 'high voltage rail' so I may be missing something ????

From that disturbingly over-imaginative comment some people could get the impression that your "consideration" says so much more about you than any concerns the OP will ever have about his nanny.   I would not say that about you, of course.

No worries, she'll be 34 now.

Reservations are easily obtained, since they can be booked once the patron returns to his or her original time after their meal, and the restaurant's bill can be paid by depositing a penny in any bank account of the present time: by the end of the universe, the compound interest on that penny over the course of time after 170 quintillion years (short scale) will be enough to pay the extremely high bill.

  6. As already somewhat referenced to above, they have confiscated nothing, that's not how Bitcoin works.

Your wallet is not a bag of virtual money.

Remember that thing called 'blockchain'? right, that's where your money lives

Only thing you need is the key to access it.

Your wallet is a (password protected) way of keeping those keys, either as a collection of those keys (older system) or a way to generate those keys from a starting point (12 / 24 words)

In both cases though, you have a backup - and know the password or remember the words, you control the outputs on the blockchain (UTXO)

So I guess the police in this case have.. eh.. an encrypted file.

Health and safety concerns emerged at that time after it was discovered that the lao khao distilled in aluminium or tin stills produced a by-product of methanol, from the liquid reacting with the metal; the government had to act. Methanol can cause blindness and even death if consumed in large amounts, and the government took charge. Not everyone who produced lao khao was aware of the dangers so the government took over all of the distilleries in Thailand between 1950-1960, switching to stainless steel stills in the process, which were completely safe [sic].

    They got bamboozled...

State took over out of pure good of course.

Metal won't distill out, temperature to vaporize it is a 'tad' too high to obtain in a still????

Copper has some disinfecting properties, then again so does boiling and alcohol.

  8. Lots of incorrect information here, though the end result is the same,

Methanol (bad) has a LOWER boiling point than Ethanol (Alcohol)

So when you start cooking it up, it will vaporize first

No need to 'control the temperature carefully' you can't tell it to stay put, temperature will rise slowly while the more volatile liquids boil off.

Just throw away the first bit coming out of the still (heads)

After a while the good stuff comes out (Mostly Ethanol)

And finally the stuff with a higher boiling point starts cooking off (tails) These still contain alcohol, but start to taste worse and worse.

Once you decide you don't want to drink that anymore, they can go into the next distillation batch.

The trick to good booze is deciding where to 'cut'

The trick to cheap booze is also deciding where to cut...
