  1. Yes, Phetchaburi (sometimes called Phetburi) is central Thailand. On the Gulf side of Thailand, the south starts in Chumpon.
  2. True. I'd like to see a detailed report of what life is like in FLA.
  3. And you've ended up in Thailand rather than, say, Singapore or Monaco or Portugal or Argentina. Thailand is for losers. You have indeed been harmed by your experiences. You have my sympathies.
  4. I've said this before: if you stay within the law in Thailand and avoid bargirls and others foreigners, you should be safe. When meeting foreigners, be VERY cautious. Many or most of them are liars, crooks, scammers, perverts, mentally disturbed, psychopaths / sociopaths, drug addicts, etc. Never believe what foreigners tell you. Play it cool. If the foreigner is telling you the truth about his current or former career, it'll become evident soon enough. Don't rush into new friendships or stupid business deals. In almost all cases, avoid business deals with Thais. Keep yourself to yourself and you won't go wrong. Be happy! Enjoy Thailand.
  5. RE: Could be a dozen reasons why he did what he did but the end result is, he'll sit in jail until he goes to court, he'll be fined for the damages and ordered deported (and blacklisted for the overstay) and then sit in jail until he can pay the fine and pay for a plane ticket home. What do you think the Canadian Embassy will do to help him?
  6. Sensible comment. Alcohol withdrawal. Massive anxiety. Paranoia. Total loss of control. Maybe he was coming down off other drugs, too. Guy needs help.
  7. They don't affect me. Because I moved away from Thailand. Because I just grew sick of everything. Because I wanted a better life. In a better country. Free from all the sick news I used to read every day. I honestly pity expats in Thailand. I really do. Do you want to know what shocked me most when I moved away from Thailand after having lived there for over 20 years ---- I didn't miss a thing. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. It's a terrible thing to say. But I miss nothing whatsoever about Thailand. I would strongly encourage you guys to re-consider your retirement plans.
  8. Good post. And very true. This is why I quit Thailand at the very beginning of 2020. I just grew to hate the place. I moved away after having lived there for over 20 years, and these days miss absolutely nothing about it. I pity expats who are still here. Thailand is a lousy option for retirees.
