Well rather than going to Thailand again this year as I would have liked I have booked a holiday in Gran Canaria.  No restrictions or need for Covid test if you are fully vaccinated.

Good choice. Once you factor in the transport cocts its no more expensive and far cleaner. No rip offs, bars open, no pollution.

    Good idea.

There have been raids on bars / restaurants in CM.

Now there are hidden cameras you must go show yourself to to get in.  Must also text some staff inside so they know to look at the camera ...

Other places have secret knocks to get inside after 8pm or so ....

Then there are places that have been open since the ban was enacted thus must be paying off the BiB.  Some places know when the raids are happening thus won't serve on those evenings ... places right across the moat weren't told and got hit.  It's all about the money ...

How desperate for a drink had someone got to be to go through that performance.?

Why do we have to suffer these puffed up posers? If a doctor or nurse manages to save a life, do they stand next to that person and announce 'Look at us. Aren't we clever?' No, that is their job and they get on with it, in a dignified and humble way. As do everyone else. Cops? Get on and do what you are paid to do. That is not to have your photo taken at every opportunity. Pathetic! You are wasting tax payers money.

    Spot on, an astute comment.

No crowd of medical personel when I was discharged from hospital after a heart attack. Just a polite smile and a sodding great bill.

I suggest they use a pencil

Time to remove the curfew also - it offers little value in the grand scheme of things

You shouldn't generalise. Some of us are permanent residents and citizens. Many more of us have vested interests here, families, businesses etc.

    Thank you.....got there before me.

I have children, job, property and pay tax.

I think it does impact me, therefore I have a voice even though I'm not a citizen.

I have mentioned this before, because I don't believe that a lot of Thais know the significance of the zebra crossing (as we call it) and that they are supposed to slow down and stop when someone is on it.

Add to that the fact that there are many unlicensed/untrained drivers out there and you have a recipe for disaster.

Many's the time I have been on a zebra crossing and spied a car coming towards me, so have slowed down, only to find that the car totally ignores me and carries on through.

I have had to warn countless visitors here that they should not treat the zebra crossings in Thailand as they treat them in their own country, because drivers here really don't know what to do with them, or give a toss.

Your last 4 words sum it up nicely

    Good.

The next step must be ask themselves: Last year we were proud of our numbers in front of the world.

But why this year the situation worsened?

    What was the watershed?

It's too easy to blame the government when something goes wrong.

The government was wrong to allow travel during songkran. But the people should have used common sense and stayed where they were.....the general population acted very irresponsibly and complains that the government are too strict.

If they were a bit more responsible the government wouldn't need to treat them like idiots.
