BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
sathornlover replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
My problem with my seal was that I could neither make fine adjustments to the LLS nor turn it off! This feature, of all things, delivers what feels like 95% of these terrible warning tones. Luckily, my local repair shop was able to fix the problem enough to at least be able to turn LLS on or off. Fine adjustments are still not possible... However, a day later BYD offered us by phone to install the latest update on the car. That will happen tomorrow because we were away for a few days. -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
sathornlover replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
sorry for not providing any further explanation, I assumed that this feature was already known in this round. The only possible added value is that you can save these screenshots to the car's local storage. You can get this screenshot via Utility Tools/File Manager and then Pictures/Screenshot. My question was whether this or other car data can be saved on a USB stick or even on a smartphone? -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
sathornlover replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
After we failed in our first day's task, our Mazda Cx-3 diesel, which was exactly six years old and had a service history, was usually satisfied with 5-6 liters per 100 km, with exactly 71,000 km on the clock, to one of the many innumerable notorious " tent” car dealer to sell because the “binding” promised price of 350,000 baht from a dealer a week ago was not met, because suddenly this car was supposedly only worth 290,000 baht … So we went on to BYD showroom and here at least there was a pleasant surprise. In fact, the head of the workshop managed to defuse the completely poor options and buggy software to such an extent that I can at least deactivate LSS including its failed warning tones. I.e. either everything on or everything off. Previously it was only ON,-) I think I can't make any demands in this situation, because BYD would actually have a duty not to let its authorized dealers and, above all, its customers starve on the software front. In my opinion, in this condition the vehicle is considerably safer and therefore suitable for travel, so that we can start our Christmas New Year trip with the seal tomorrow. The other good news is that after the first “cultural misunderstandings”, smiling and lying away problems, which I usually face with a moderately choleric attack, which is my “cultural thing”, our first after sale experience was amazingly good and above all seems the workshop has one/some skilled car mechanics. When we start our trip tomorrow, I will also deactivate TSR completely, because here too, even if I only have SLI “Speed Limit Information” activated, this horrible warning signal doesn't sound as often as when changing lanes, but often enough to turn it off. This means that this noise nuisance is reduced to an acceptable level. It is possible to take screenshots of the touchscreen. Is it possible to access the screenshots or other data via a USB stick? Finally, thank you again to EVERYONE for the really, really helpful content of this round! If you don't hear from me in the near future, you can assume that I'm completely happy with the car.,-) -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
sathornlover replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Thank you very much for your feedback, everything was very helpful, as were the previous posts. I admit that I wasn't that euphoric right from the start because I actually wanted a slightly more compact car with the qualities and range that the Seal undoubtedly has. I don't know of anything comparable that I could get for the money in Thailand at the moment. A Tesla, for example, despite its special advantages but with its very reduced operating concept, is out of the question for me. And even from EQS & Porsche league I hear some disturbing stories. We are all in this phase when it comes to Chinese EVs and early adopters, stories like this are part of it ,-) -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
sathornlover replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I don't think I need to feel better on honest feeedbacks like this but they are very helpful to understand this black box better as far as it is possible. Thank you for that. Regarding the last question, the lane departure warning system and the warning signals when changing lanes cannot be deactivated, hence the extremely frequent beeping no matter what settings I put in the touchscreen, nothing happens, my salesman didn't want to believe it at first either, the thing is completely buggy, only when I set the turn signal there was no jerking and beeping. But there may be good news for the car. The salesman got back to my wife in the late afternoon to say that the mechanic had got the problems under control, but I'm only cautiously optimistic, we'll know more tomorrow ... -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
sathornlover replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I received my car last Saturday. When it comes to the driving characteristics of this car, I can't really say anything new and basically only positive things, but on the software side the world looks completely different. Although I was already warned from what I could read or hear here and from other reviews, I was actually already warned and my expectations weren't really high in this regard and at least I had the hope that the last update would at least fix the worst bugs . Here, too, I couldn't report anything new at the beginning. my responsible salesman assured me that this car already has the latest update. Nevertheless, I had to take note of all the defects that had already been reported with this vehicle. I can still live quite well with a silent Google Maps navigator or unreliable parking sensors. With an extremely unreliable and sometimes violently intervening lane keeper assistant, if necessary I could accept it if it could at least be deactivated, but that wasn't ans is not possible. Just like I couldn't deactivate the constantly annoying acoustic warning signals. In my opinion, this is not just a nuisance, but a significant security risk. And in this condition, this car is anything but a suitable travel car. with which you can safely cruise through the country in a relaxed manner! A quick software version comparison in this forum revealed that I was still stuck on an old version. Until yesterday I waited in vain for the last update to finally be delivered via OTA and started to suspect that something was wrong with the vehicle in this regard too. My responsible BYD salesman assured me via LINE that the software was up to date and I could deactivate the lane departure warning system and the annoying warning signals … So yesterday I made my way to the BYD showroom not only to convince my salesperson otherwise, but also to find out why an update was not possible and whether the workshop service could provide me with an update. I was able to convince my salesperson quite quickly that I was unfortunately right about the problems I had reported. Right from the start, the service department seemed pretty erratically and haphazard to me. Here, too, I had to convince everyone again that this car was not on the latest software update. They told me to please wait a bit. They would do this update now. After waiting for 2 hours, the vehicle was returned to me with the message that the latest update was on it and all the problems were solved. As soon as I called up the version number, I could tell that there had been no update at all and that the karaoke app that was so beloved here in this forum couldn't be found. Needless to say, everything was the same on the next test drive with the seller! I told to the staff that I would not take this car in this condition because I consider it a safety risk and I expect the significant defects to be corrected as quickly as possible, including a current update. Unfortunately, my question as to what had been done to my car in the last 2 hours remained unanswered... For me it was too obvious that they were overwhelmed by this problem. We agreed that the next day the top technician at this workshop would work on my car. So instead of my Seal I drove home with a Neta V from Grab. It was very spartanly equipped, but apparently does everything you could expect from such a small car and does not need a constant warning signal or background noise. It was much more comfortable today with my Good Cat, whose really surprisingly good driving assistants in this vehicle category convinced me from the first day. Especially the vehicle lane keeping assistant! But back to the topic, because now there might be something new to report. It took at least 20 minutes to find someone who could tell me what the situation was and what would happen next. And only then when I intervened a little louder in the showroom and pointed out that I would probably have to inform the BYD Thailand headquarters. The same service employee appeared from yesterday who claimed my car had received an update and she claimed this again today and that we could take a look at the car but the chief technician would continue to work on it for about 2 hours. Yes, what can I say, we went to the vehicle together and the old software version number appeared again, and I would have to continue to do without this great karaoke app. Now she told me the problem was that newly delivered cars with a certain serial number and above were not yet receiving any updates from BYD. and the workshop itself could not install any updates. Now the chief technician would try to resolve the problems. I have very big doubts that this will be successful. When asked what was done to my car in the 2 hours yesterday, she openly admitted that everyone was overwhelmed and didn't know what to do. I thanked you for her openness and asked her to continue communicating with me in this way in the future. I assured her that I am not a troublemaker, but that I wanted to solve problems - in this case mine and possibly BYD's too... -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help

A friendly hello to the Seal group and a big thank you for the great input! I'll have the seal delivered tomorrow afternoon, logging into the app seems to be working already. I'm actually from the MEOW team, but when the prices and specifications of the big cat were known, I made my decision and placed my order from Germany two weeks ago and could have received the car with all my special requests on Wednesday! Immediately after my arrival in Thailand I took a test drive under jet lag conditions. I think it will have been the right purchase decision for the next 2-3 years. ,-)… -
Thanks for all the input???? and this text is very helpful to further discuss this matter as a basis in Thai acquaintances. The majority, at least outside of Bangkok, have hardly noticed anything about it or will probably not feel directly affected at first! It's more about whether the 10k baht will actually flow at the beginning of next year...

At first glance it makes sense, but I would be a bit hesitant with this idea in a country where tax laws have a completely different effect through a reinterpretation of a subordinate authority and are just as likely to be applied arbitrarily in the individual tax offices and without further “clarifications”... I don't need to transfer any money for the next 3 years, after that we'll go back anyway and probably only spend the winter in Thailand, then we could transfer "diligently" as non-tax residents, but I don't think much of the idea in the uncertain situation either. Especially when a country tries to solve its obvious problems in such a drastic way primarily at the expense of minorities, we now think it might be better to leave Thailand much sooner than originally planned …

How should this “gift” be made by a foreigner in Thailand as a “tax resident” to his Thai spouse without the Revenue Department deeming this gift as tax avoidance. These monetary gifts can also be transferred from the donor's foreign account to the spouse's Thai bank account on a regular basis every 1-12 months? Are these types of donations subject to reporting and if so, by whom and in what form? I'm a bit skeptical...

555 Our old "friend" Big Joke had his 5 big minutes of fame again when he showed off this German guy and proudly announced that he is now supposedly convicted of his just punishment ... a few weeks later, this German paedo is whining around back home in Germany, he had to pay 1 million baht or so to be able to leave the Thailand. The German authorities were not informed! It's quite possible that they got him by the balls with the NDR documentary that was shown on German TV a year ago already . Seems to be still a tolerated and very lucrative business for many people involved...
