  1. Lucky you. If you were a freelancer like me you'd know it's impossible to get a B Visa. I'm not aware of the US rules about VISAs (a country, btw, that I'm not a huge fan of), nor I'm interested on the topic, which isn't the one in discussion. Have a nice day
  2. Still, I'm generally more concerned about what is right (at least in my opinion) than what is lawful in a strict sense. Actually, I never said that those who don't abide the law shouldn't be held accountable. But since I think that a minor administrative infraction isn't a fact of the broad interested for the community, I suppose it's more useful to debate a bit about the rules that regulate life in Thailand for us foreigner. I also think that a strict talk about laws in a country with a corruption index of 36/100 (the lower the worst) it's a bit pretentious. We all know how the law is bent or ignored on a daily basis, specially for minor infractions, at the point that is far more interesting discussing about the reasons when it's applied. Have a nice day.
  3. Hello, I need an helping hand for a fatigue job in Bkk at a congruent tarif. Unskilled task under supervision. Any of you know someone I may call or can point me out in my research? Thank you
  4. Or maybe make more sensible rules? Tbh the rules about working in Thailand are medioeval
  5. Thank you, do you have personal experience with their service?
  6. Hello, my mobile (xiaomi) has stopped recharging and I'm looking for a reliable place to get it fixed quickly for a reasonable price (I live close to Sukhumvit - Phra Khanong). Does anyone have suggestions? Thank you
  7. My sim suddenly stopped working (can't make any call or use mobile data, but I have a full package bundled with my home internet connection and it's unlimited) and I can't find a way to communicate in English with TRUE. I tried 1242 and the live chat but there isn't any English option. Can anyone help? Thanks
  8. Well, I stayed in Patong at an hotel next to Hooters I walked by it every day. That one was very well placed, from there people can get the live music from the hardrock cafe and there are no other places nearby to sit down.
  9. Yeah, filling the army with thugs and young criminals, giving them weapons, power and a chance of career seems a great idea. What could be go wrong?
  10. it's not only about job... it's about reading any scientific document, international news, culture products from books to movies. I'm not a native speaker but english is really important in my life
  11. Good, now with that money found a collective of the victims families, hire a bunch of lawyers and sue the police for negligence, both in civil and penal court. The police allowed the men into the ranks covering up for his behavior for years and should be held responsible.
  12. Maybe they can start making feasible to start a small business under boi for foreigners...
  13. It seems to me an overlap with the smart visa program, only with even more requisite. Getting a smart visa was already a real hassle and it took months of paperwork
  14. Actually I live in a comfy condo in Phra Khanong and I don't spend much more than 30.000, without giving up anything, and I have 100k+/month net salary. So don't assume, not all lifestyles are the same
  15. I know PEO isn't the best. The figure I suggested were after the PEO cut. Unfortunately I don't have enough budget to start a proper company or branch in Thailand at the moment, so I don't have much choice. On the plus side, as company representative I live and work in BKK already so it's up to me to select and then engage and motivate the team.
  16. too much? can you elaborate a bit? what do you think could be a fair offer?
  17. Hello, what is a fair junior software developer salary in BKK? I'm looking for a couple young locals to hire through a PEO for my foreign business, but I'm not sure about the market. Considering what I've found so far around 400.000 baht/year of gross salary + 5%-10% yearly bonus, 40h/week + a couple of weeks of paid vacations seems to be a good offer for a junior position. Is it too much/too low? Any feedback would be appreciated ????
  18. @AndycoopsI personally think that even before education you need to set a positive mindset and the right attitude. I mean, I love thai people, but they are often naive at insane levels. Maybe I love them just for this very reason, but it's saddening to see how they waste their lives sometimes. Anyway, a change of mindset requires generations and huge investments by the gov which actually doesn't seem to be so interested in growing self aware people
  19. Let me tell you one story. In 2019 I've started planning the opening of my IT company here in Thailand (I'm Italian). I'm already a partner in a small IT company in Italy and our first idea was to setup a branch in Bangkok. It proved to be not feasible, only big companies with a big investment power can do that. Than we looked at the BOI system, and again it wasn't only expensive, it was also a big headache. There is no way to start a new startup for a foreigner. So I took a job here, and even then getting a smart visa took over a month, a huge amount of paperwork and was costly (10.000/year) This country has the power to attract a lot of people for it's lifestyle more than anything else. There is a huge potential in the expats community that can't take off because the government doesn't want to. On the contrary big companies are welcome, but they come only if they can squeeze locals to make money
  20. So they are actually expecting that the 0.6% of Saudi Arabia will travel to Thailand this year? 6 times higher than pre-covid levels? Well, this is fun
