  1. I know this is a very old post but there's not many on the subject. 3 months ago, a routine eye test showed high pressure 37 and 28 and I was diagnosed with glaucoma. I went to Surat Thani Eye Hospital for tests. Doctor said he would like to wait 3 months before starting drops because of my age (51) and my health is good. My blood pressure was 111/67. Obviously, I was worried so did a tonne of research. I started immediately taking the tablets below. I also quit coffee and caffeine, I started drinking hot chocolate made from cocoa mass. I reduced my sugar by over 50%. I started taking the dog on an extra walk, so about 8km total. I don't drink often and when I do, its no more than 4 beers, so I didn't change that. I smoke around 10 a day, I never stopped. Just been for my 3 months consultation and my tests are all normal. Blood pressure 106/63. Eye pressure at 17 and 16. He gave me all clear, asked me to go back in 6 months. Vitamin B Complex Vitamin C 500mcg Vitamin D3 100mcg Vitamin K2 Magnesium Complex Ginkgo Biloba Bilberry Extract Collagen
  2. I download to and host torrents on a seedbox located in Europe. Then download from there to my laptop, firetv etc.
  3. Less than 24 hours after surgery. 2 months later.
  4. I use this place for Bravecto, that always seem to have stock. Been using them a year now and placed 4 orders. https://www.d2petshop.com My dog is 23kg and I always buy the 10-20kg. In 4 years I have given her Bravecto, I have only seen one (dead) tick on her since (I'm using the chewables). For Heartworm I use Heartguard PLUS (monthly) and she gets a Praferan Anthelminths every 3 months. I could move her over to Nexgard Spectra to combine flea, tick and heartworm but I'm loathe to change something that works for her without any side affects. We give her best friend the street dog here Nexgard Spectra as when we had him tested it was the only solution at the vets. But I now buy it much cheaper from the place above. Again, Nexgard works for him, so he can stay on that. We use a cheap spot-on for all the other dogs she comes into contact with. Our dog was 3 years old when we met her (the people on our Soi had a video of her as a pup which was time stamped). My friends Thai wife was on a visit from Bangkok and she sat with me one night and we picked over 100 ticks off her. The next day, me and my wife took her for blood tests, turned out she had heartworm, blood parasite, diabetes, anaemic, her liver and kidneys were also a problem. She also had cataracts. We got all the above problems sorted over about 3 years apart from the cataracts which were getting worse. She was on a special diet, all cooked by myself. Once she was 100% with all her blood works, we spoke to the eye surgeon at Thong Lor who sent us to see his colleague in Phuket for tests (we are in Nakhon SI Thammarat). They give the surgeon the all clear and we drove to Bangkok for further tests a couple of weeks later. We arrived at 11am in Bangkok, she was undergoing tests by 12 and despite the surgeon warning he only ever does 1 eye at a time, he said because she was stage 4 and 5 cataracts, he would try to do them together if he had time. She went under at 4pm and we got a call at 7pm to say everything had gone well with both eyes and we could see her tomorrow afternoon in ICU. Glad to say, 12 months on and it's like having a new dog. She's seven now but her discovering how to be a young dog again is fun watching. I read all the scare stories about Bravecto etc and I admit I was worried but without that, I think she may be dead now.
  5. Does anyone know where I can get trim leaves. I used to know someone in the UK who would give me a bin bag full for nothing, I presumed he was a grower but never asked so i really have little clue what it was and where it came from. I used it to roll joints instead of tobacco and I want to get off the cigarettes again. I'm also looking for new suppliers of the cheaper variety, I usually buy 100g green crack. I have signed up with bangyabongzing but I would also like some other strains like lemon haze etc. I usually buy a few grams of each so I can have my little sweet shop setup with a screw organiser from MRDIY.. Thanks.
  6. We each intend to apply for our own O-A visa. Originally, my was not 50 but now she is.
  7. So, it's better to not get the re-entry permit, then our visas are effectively cancelled once we leave, ready for a new application?
  8. I fully understand all the pros and cons of O-A vs O but it still suits us better to go O-A. We have insurance that covers O-A requirements anyway, so the only additional cost is the Police Report. I won't go in to all details but our IO is rather unhelpful with regards what is normal for other IO. For instance, I could not apply in-country for the 90 days under consideration (he simply does not allow this) and was advised by IO to go to KL - with my wife - for us both to apply for 90 days, me as retirement and her as trailing spouse. My visa was accepted, hers rejected. We contacted our IO who said, oh - KL changed - go to Phnom Penh. We go there - rejected. Come back with Tourist visa for wife. Go to IO for my extension - accepted. Wife tries to now get on my visa - rejected - Told - go home to UK. We sent our details to KL, Phnom Penh, Singapore and Laos and was told they no longer offer trailing spouse on Non O, only Non B. So, we got an agent - now accepted, go to our IO to pick up passport and stamp for wife. We are going to have to go through all this again in a few months and then every single year. He does not allow wife to ride partners visa, separate application and 800k in bank. So, as you can see, O-A is much better for us as we don't need to or want to deal with IO or agents. We get to keep 2 x 800k in UK, of which the interest pays for the insurance. So, thanks for the advice but I just need to clarify the re-entry permit situation. Thanks.
  9. Hello I have Non O based on retirement expiring Sept 2023, my wife is dependant on my visa expiring same date. We have to go back to UK in June and we wish to apply for O-A visa. The problem is, we only have 2 weeks to visit and we cannot apply until we are in the UK, as they need to see passport pages. Plus, we have to go collect the Police Check and Medical Certificate and get it scanned before applying. So, my question is, if we were to get a re-entry permit before we leave Thailand (just in-case our visa is not issued in time), would we have problems trying to enter on a new O-A visa with an existing re-entry permit for the still valid Non O? I realise, we can just re-enter with the old visa and leave again before September to activate the O-A. But we specifically want to know if the re-entry permit will cause problems for the new visa. We have a lot of animals to look after in Thailand and being away is extremely difficult for us. Thanks
  10. Hi, what were the seats like in the end? We're thinking the same? Thanks
  11. An old post I know but someone may read this. I took a chance and bought the Marten pressure washer from Lazada (about 1400 baht), it had decent specs and I'd seen a lot of these sold through Facebook and read all the reviews. Flow rate: 500 L/H (not tested) Pressure: 350 bar Power: 3000W/4HP Mpa: 35 Firstly, its a substantial weight (about 10 kilos) with a light plastic housing. I've accidentally pulled it off the wall (about a foot drop) a few times, the plastic has cracked but the machine carries on. I've had it 3 years now and I use it all the time. I wash 1 car and 2 motorbikes every 2 weeks and because we live by the sea, I'm constantly jetting down the driveway that accumulates all the sand blown in. Bug bears, only a 1m electric chord. If you want a proper set up though, it is worth upgrading all the connections, gun etc. I looked at a few of these that look very similar before I bought and they all had a similar connector. This connector is unique and fits nothing but their own equipment and you can't buy an adapter to fit to it. So, initially I wanted it to wash the car and bikes and wanted a foam cannon like I have in the UK. So, I spoke to a Thai company on Facebook (KLM tools), sent them photographs and videos of my connections and the machine in operation. He advised me what I needed to buy. So, I bought a new gun designed to work on higher pressure but with the ability to attach quick connects, it is much higher quality than the original. I also bought all the brass quick connections needed, extension rod and a couple of nozzles plus 1 Foam cannon with 2 spare bottles. My original hose lasted 2 years but then split, so I bought a better quality one. Now that I know what all the connections are, I have bought more plus nozzles from Lazada at much cheaper prices than KLM tools but he saved me lots of time and research initially. I would advise anyone to upgrade all their connections to the metal versions. No more leaks, everything just slots together safely and is secure. I have upgrade all our garden hoses and hoes reel with brass connections, I have a brass 4 way tap outside which connects to the hosepipe exclusive for the pressure washer; to a short 1m pipe to wash our feet with; to a sprinkler system; to a 15m hose for the garden fitted with a brass variable spray nozzle. We get a lot of green algae under our carport, so twice a year I wash it all down and let it dry 24 hours, then apply a chemical that kills the algae. We can get a Pajero and 2 scooters on the driveway, so its a decent size job. I also bought a High Pressure Washer Rotating Turbo Nozzle which really helps deep clean the drive. All in all, about 4000 baht gets you a proper set up with everything quick release and bomb proof. If the washer eventually breaks, I'll try to find another without the accessories. marten-mpa.mp4
  12. Did you end up doing this? We have same problem. We need to get back to Nakhon Si Thammarat as quick as possible (animals). We, both (UK nationals) have appointment 10:30am at UK Embassy for Marriage Affirmation, could we hand over the affirmation to a translation service, then fly home? If so, can you give me the details of who you used as I've contacted 4 so far off the UK Embassy list and none have come back to me. Thanks
  13. It does happen, whether it's happened to you or not. Recently, I was confronted at a vegetable stall at 8am at the Wednesday market. I'm in shorts and t-shirt buying carrots and potatoes when a guy comes up and says "10 baht!". Well I was paying already and had 200 baht in my wallet, so I made a show of opening my crappy wallet so he could see I had nothing but 2 x 100 baht notes, no cards or anything. He then says "50 baht!" as I get my 80 baht change. So I say "I do more shopping, no baht". Bear in mind, he's dressed quite well, pencil moustache, jacket and long collared shirt with rolled up cuffs to show his crappy gold watch. I'm probably 6 inches taller than him and I keep fit, I could flatten him easily in a fair fight. The only thing I had of value was my Garmin watch with an obviously broken screen. I say goodbye and leave. He proceeds to follow me around the market and I did the Thai thing and avoided him but I needed to be on the other side of the market and it became very obvious, as I was zigzagging through stalls and he was doing exactly the same. So just as I got to the last stall I was buying some curry paste from, I turned around and did the very British thing, stared him down and told him to "<deleted> OFF" in a very aggressive manner. He did. The ladies asked me what's wrong (as I know them for a few years) and I told them. One sent her husband off after him, whether to tell an official or confront him - I don't know. Now, I don't know what his intentions were but they were obviously not good and we have quite a few elderly farangs here. So I mentioned it to my Thai landlord straight away and he came to pick me up to go back to the market to find him. Apparently, another elderly farang had been accosted at the 7/11 by someone similar a few days before. We couldn't find him, unfortunately. I live in a non-tourist area, so it is quite unheard of but it does happen. A good few years back I was in Chiang Mai. I was sat opposite a bar with a pool table and we'd just been in there ourselves. A big German guy who arrived that day was playing an English guy and the German won and put the cue over his head and celebrated. He was funny and just having a laugh, we'd been in with him earlier and he was playing "German stays on" as he was very good and he was challenging different nationalities. He came out to shout over to us that he'd beaten another Brit - when about 8 Thais set on him. Now, they were literally taking it in turns using his head as a football and nobody was doing anything to stop it - so I had to go over and tell them to "stop, you're going to kill him - police coming!". Luckily they did and left so there was no confrontation but I'd been warned already of getting involved and I really didn't want to.
