  1. Blue Sapphire with 36 holes has a promotion until November 30th. They charge 900 baht incl. unlimited play and good rooms with 2 in each room. A and B are both in reasonable good condition while the greens at C and D have just been called. It is a very interesting golf course with plenty of water everywhere. Nothing for beginners however.

Nichigo could be another alternative with their 27 holes. I have not played it for a while so do not know anything about prices or the condition. The layout of the course is however great. Their rooms are ok.

  2. Recently I got very sick and was taken to a good hospital in our region where I have been registered since many years. As my condition was serious the doctors wanted to put me into intensive care unit which I first refused. The reason why I at first rejected it was I have heard so many stories about the hospitals trying to do anything to increase their profit. I gave in only after a doctor told me straight on it was a must due to my condition and according to his opinion as a doctor anything else would be suicide.

After a night at their intensive care unit I was removed to an international hospital in Bangkok and they managed to cure my illness in a very professional way. At that time cost did not matter at all and the money spent have been very well used. I am now slowly recovering but home again and very happy looking forward again.

Why do I post this? I want to tell all readers that in this case my suspicions about farangs being overcharged – and my dislike of it – almost ended my life. From now on I will trust the hospitals and try to listen and understand good advices.

The following is what could have happened to me – but did not. I hope it will make at least some readers smile:

I woke up at the entrance to the heaven and God Fathers assistant looked at me and told me (he is the only one being quoted and read it as a monolog)

Welcome to us! Could you pls fill in this form and pay the entrance fee.

Sorry, we don’t accept currencies from the earth you have to pay with Gods money.

Oh, you have not got Gods money! That means we can’t accept you and you have to return from where you came. But the return trip can be paid in any currency!

You say you came from Thailand! Lucky man! Very few people do come to heaven from there as it is the territory of Buddha. We have a special agreement with Lord Buddha to return all people from Thailand free of charge as his people enjoy not only one life on earth! You can leave through the door marked “Exit” and we wish you a good trip back to earth.

  3. Ask the friend to contact her boyfriend in Sweden requesting him to contact

Swedish Migration Board, Norrköping, Tel. 0771 235235

Hereby all information can easily be obtained. They should be prepared for a lot of paperwork but if all papers are ok everything should work out fine.

If the Thai lady is not good in English I suggest she gets assistance from professional people in this business – there might be some in the same building as the Swedish Embassy.

  4. With due respect the relationship you have had with your TW is not known to this forum I think a divorce settlement should take both parts interest into consideration. I see people run away from their responsibilities too often and my respect to them is zero.

Divorces are normally tricky as the willingness to understand the other part can be low or does not exist. In those cases a good man is likely to protect his own interest as well as making sure his TW get what can be seen as a fair deal. If the TW direct or indirectly is trying to misuse her position the only advice I find is likely to work is to protect as much as possible and get it out of the hands of the TW as well as Thai authorities.

Any farang with properties registered with Land Office can and should make sure these properties are specified when the marriage is registered at the local Ampuh. With the document then given to you a registration at the Land Office can be made as well. I did so many years ago but regret to have forgotten about all the details.

  5. Paying tea money is not required for normal activity; and has not been for many years. In 40 years I have never paid such fees - even when they were common. That was what was different here and other countries - the task would be done here without payment but might take a little longer (although in most cases it did not) - in other countries it just was not done without lubrication. We are not talking business; as you seem to be.

Suspect that any such payments make you the apparent offender in any legal action that might come up in the future - not a good game plan

Excellent post from lopburi3 to which I very much agree.

Having seen how some farangs offer tea money to the Immigration without any reason at all I am not too surprised the staff at some Immigration offices take this as an excuse to try to get more from other “customers”. I hear people bragging about what they paid and the good service they got in return not realising what I think about them and their actions.

I never pay anything extra as I find it not only wrong but also a waste of money. During the years I have noticed a few times the officer have tried to make me understand they want some money but after I politely just change topic their request seems to be “forgotten” by them and I receive the service I am entitled to. No way however I would tell them straight on as it is not in my interest to have them loose face.

  6. “Today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope”

The above was once written by Orson Wells and I got it as “a printed card” from my wife (at that time) when I was not yet 35. So it was about 30 years ago. On the other side of the card was the following

“Today is the first day of the rest of your life” (Orson Wells as well)

These two sentences has followed me since that and opened up my mind in a way I think was very good. I still live according to these “advices” and really enjoy life a lot.

There are certain sicknesses or age related stuff most of us will face sooner or later. But if we manage to keep a positive attitude it gets easier to accept even bad news. The seeing on my left eye has been reduced with 75% due to a virus some years back - but the right eye gives me all seeing I need so not a problem. Osteoartrit in my fingers have a bad impact on my scoring in golf but I can still enjoy the game which now is more important than trying to improve it. Tennis is no longer possible but badminton is not a bad alternative even if people are laughing when they see my racket which has been adjusted to fit my bad fingers.

So I am enjoying my life and trust there is a lot of good new things to come – the bad ones might come as well but no way I do worry about them.

  7. What seats can be recommended on their A320 aircrafts? Does row 14 offer more legroom than row 12? Appreciate good advices.

It appears Airasia now use mostly A320 and only 2 Boeing 737 are still in operation according to www.airfleets.net

  8. It seems to me like most of the complainers on this forum are people with little international experiences even if many have a lot of experiences from their home country. Those who have been expatriates in various countries seem to adapt more easily to the conditions here in Thailand and hereby are able to highlight more on the advantages than the disadvantages. I do meet quite a lot of people from various countries here as well and the pattern seems to stay the same.

But I might be wrong of course!

  9. Having trouble accessing my yahoo mail account. When i key in my user id and password it wont access, same to if i click on the help button for not being able to access my account that too i cant access.any advice please.

The same has happened to my wife twice during the last two years. I wrote to Yahoo from another mail address explaining the problem. I never got any reply from them but her Yahoo was back to normal within a few days.

  10. The Thai person quoted by eek expressed his/her opinions in good English which I suppose should be well accepted by all readers as it makes it easy to understand.

I accept and respect the quoted opinions. There are various reasons many posters seem to be experts in complaining and I doubt this will change by time or with new members joining this forum. But at the same time I find plenty of posters showing good attitude to Thailand overall and it is easy to find a lot of good things written about Thailand and its people.
