Try eBay Thailand (eBay.co.th) - they are a lot more rigorous than Lazada in managing its online shops.

They dont have the same amount of cheap Chinese stuff - but they do well enough.

Amazon a bit better too - but they dont have a Thailand 'branch' (last I checked).

Shoppee is the only real alternative to ebay in Thailand. Amazon is for the US and Europe, and buying from an unknown seller on ebay is risky - As I've learn't to my cost, TWICE!

Lazada warns you not to do business off the platform. If you purchase off the platform you are wide open to issues.

Indeed they do, but it doesn't stop people following up their offers. A fool and his money, as the saying goes.

There was a Samsung vendor a couple months ago that was bogus. Half retail prices and contact via Line.

Ripped me off for 6000 baht. Russian and Thai accomplice . Complained to Lazada who wanted the details but nothing came of it. My own fault really as I shouldn't have fell for the contact on "Line"

I hope they rot in hell.

Exactly what I'm talking about! Instead of the issue being nailed, there are now countless stores doing precisely the same thing.

Perhaps they are just new sellers?  New businesses start up all the time.

Some of them are months old, without a single sale. As I said, the ludicrously low prices are the giveaway, and anyone enquiring is asked to purchase from a LINE or email link.

  5. Just a 'heads up' to be aware of fake stores selling on Lazada. In particular, smartphones, cameras and TV's are common products to be found listed. The giveaway is that they (the stores) have zero sales, ludicrously low prices, and ask potential customers to contact them via LINE or email to purchase. Here is just on example: https://www.lazada.co.th/shop/shippits111/?spm=a2o4m.pdp.seller.1.2f2a1ff9qb6b3n&itemId=709524204&channelSource=pdp

  6. It's never worked for me, and now I can't even open the website page. Here's the URL I'm using: http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibics/online/tm47/TM47Action.do

    Has it changed?

It changed at the end of June to. https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online

I made an update of the topic when it was changed (page one).

You will get a security warning because immigration did a self certification. Just ignore the warning and proceed.

If not using IE or Chrome/Firefox without an IE extension you will have problems now. I suggest you install IE tab for Chrome or Firefox.

Cheers for that. I'd no idea! The new link opens (after accepting the warning), but I doubt I've been added to the system yet, having only stayed here 19 years. LOL.

When I resorted to doing my last 90 day reporting in person, the officer told me to leave the country if I wanted it to work.

  7. No residence certificate needed if you have a Work Permit, am I correct?

medical certificate needed for 5 year renewal, needed?

Can some one please what is required for a 5 year D L renewal.

    Thanks

Work Permit can be used as long the address in the WP is your home address.

Medical certificate is indeed needed for the 5 year DL renewal.

As my renewal was a few years ago i don't have the latest info on the required paperwork but if i remember correctly it was a medical certificate, Proof of Residence, passport and copies of your passport.

When renewing a 1 year temporary DL you have to do this after the expire date otherwise you will receive again a 1 year DL.

For the 5 Year DL you need a long stay visa and the renewal can be done before or after the expire date.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

No medical certificate required in Phuket for a 5 year renewal...and it has to be renewed before it expires, else there are penalties.

  8. I also agree with the previous posts. The police often let tourists get away with a car license at the checkpoints.

Also, an international drivers permit is not required in Thailand.

What exactly do you mean "International Drivers License." There is no such thing. Do you mean the IDP? Do you have a card that actually says "International Drivers License" on it?

'an international drivers permit is not required in Thailand.' That's a joke right?

No, very true. Home license is valid provided: license is in English, is valid, has photo.

Seems I'm a bit out of date! This certainly wasn't the case many years back when I first arrived on these shores. So basically, an old paper licence (without photo) cannot be used, but a valid plastic licence - with photo, is accepted. My sister and family will be very happy to know that when they next visit smile.png

  10. I agree with previous 2 posters. Rental shop could not care whether you have a license or not. Police might have a good look at your home license. But I doubt if they would notice if car or bike endorsed. Your biggest problem would be in the event of an accident. You would be illegally driving a motor bike.

It really wouldn't make any difference riding a rental motorbike. There's zero insurance anyway!

  11. Caveat- GF bought a Samsung S3 from China (she lives there). It was a very convincing fake. Looked authentic, but worked poorly. She sent it back, sucked it up and paid the money for a real Samsung.

These Samsung fakes are also everywhere in Thailand...some office staff have it...very cheap and surprisingly good....but far away from the original in quality and often they die fast...

They're improving all the time. There are some really good Chinese phones available on the market right now - some of them exceeding the spec' of genuine Samsung originals. But that said, yo get what you pay for!

  12. You could get a single entry tourist visa at the Thai embassy in Yangon that would give you a 60 day entry that can be extend for 30 days at immigration.

If not you would get 15 days entering by land or another 30 days by air when you return to Thailand. Both can be extended for 30 days at immigration.

A 2 entry tourist visa in Laos if you wanted to before making your trip.

I thought immigration changed the rules AGAIN the other week, allowing a 30 day entry stamp by air or land?

Their was no change to the visa exempt rules. Only those from G7 countries and those on bilateral agreements get 30 days at the border.

The 30 day extension for exempt entries started on August 29th.

Thanks. Doesn't apply to me, but I knew I'd read something recently about back-to-back border crossings.

  14. TM18 form. Downloads --> http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=download

The certificate is free but you will be asked fr at 300 baht. some ask 500 baht.

Are you 100 % sure it's TM18? .....that appears to be for holders of resident permits. I stay here on an extended 'O' Visa.

Sorry, I was just reading the title and thought it was as stated 'Certificate of Residence Application'.

But now that I download the forms I can see it's a form 4th from the end with no TM number.

    My apologies.

Seems we're both having a bad day! I looked down the list several times before posting the question here.LOL I just wanted to save some time at the immigration office.

Some interesting replies with reference to the fee. I'm pretty sure it should be a free service. I wonder what the DSI/NCPO would think.

  15. A few weeks ago I needed the letter(s) for my driving license extension. It was 300 Baht. When I decided to get two letters, they asked for one more picture, the fee was still 300 Baht.

Can you remember which form you filled out.'LivinginKata' is telling me TM18, but that is for a 'substitute residency certificate' and asks for your residency permit number - I'm not a resident. I stay here on an extended 'O' Visa
