  1. I’d be very curious to know how the Senate defines « AI ». I was an I/T specialist for 45 years before retiring 5 years ago. Certainly the term AI existed long ago, and I have no doubt that the algorithmes have evolved, but I don’t know what the strict definition of AI is such that a legally binding rule could be defined as to what constitutes AI versus any other software that does analysis of data. And without such a definition, I find it hard to imagine how AI could be regulated. Unless they want to get strict and just say that computer software can’t be used… only an abacus.
  2. Huh? Are Rh-negative donors more likely to have accidents? And whilst we're at it.... How is a stripped monk related to the need for blood donations? Aseannow, You really need to turn off this ChatGPT feature of finding "related news"....
  3. How is .114 greater than .50 ? (ok, 114 is bigger than 50... but we're talking decimal points here). Doesn't anyone proof-read any longer?
  4. Are others noticing that Aseanow articles (or perhaps Thaiger articles?) all seem to conclude with a "related news" throw-away comment at the end? This gets really weird, like the one at the end of this article that mentions Brit backpacker murders as being related to this guy dying in a bathroom accident! Is this "related news" mania something that is configured for articles produced by ChatGPT? They really need to cut this out unless the related article really is pertinent. Tiring. Dumb.
  5. Sorry, but I don't even consider this sad. Assuming that it's true that he was setting the fields on fire, he was putting at risk the health of others. He got the punishment that he deserved.
  6. Everyone knows how dangerous it is to either walk across the street or ride a bike in the street in Bangkok. I don't believe that this is really a problem with a lack of laws; it's a problem with lack of respect for the current laws by drivers in Bangkok. It seems to me that the first thing that Bangkok needs to do is enforce the existing laws. Police need to be seen fining drivers massively with stiff penalties (better yet... the fine should be in proportion to the driver's revenue to make it truly painful). Afterwards they can start considering investments like bike and walking paths.
  7. Are they serious? The Eastern Bus Terminal at Ekkamai is already VERY easy to get to for anyone on the BTS line today. Out in Krung Thep Abhiwat Central Terminal (Bang Su) will be much worse for convenience.
  8. Good that the PM is showing his concern about this huge problem. Perhaps I'm naïve, but it seems to me that the first step is obvious: get the police to enforce the existing laws against burning, and make sure to publicly shame and SERIOUSLY fine (maybe even jail) some of the culprits to set a clear example. Will this totally eliminate the smoke and pollution? Of course not. But it would be a huge step forward and allow Thailand some leverage to negotiate and coerce the neighbouring countries to do similar work.
  9. Skywalk from Phrom Phong to EMSphere was already opened a few days ago. Lovely.
  10. Perhaps it's also fake news that Thailand has some of the most polluted cities in the world as far as AQI is concerned, in particular when the fields get burned. I think THAT is a real concern amongst potential tourists, and I virtually never read any news (fake or otherwise) about people being prosecuted for burning their fields. And how about the two-price policy applied in so many tourist attractions in this country. Is that also fake news? Now there are two very real subjects the government could work on in order to improve the image of Thailand.
  11. I won't disagree with what you said, but it has to start with some countries acting responsibly. And Thailand can't even seriously complain to other countries unless it can show that it is cleaning up its own back yard. Thailand should be showing leadership here. I have NEVER once read about any farmer getting seriously fined for burning. The Thai government has totally disappointed in this area.
  12. I'll certainly post some info here after the trip. Based upon the suggestions here, as well as from some Facebook posts, I'll likely ride down to Surat Thani and then see what the weather forecast is. If the weather looks promising, I'll go down the East Coast. Otherwise, I'll head west to Trang and then follow the west coast.
  13. Hello all. I'm planning on bicycling in November from Chumphon to Penang, Malaysia. I've been living and biking in Thailand for 5 years, so somewhat used to biking conditions for central Thailand especially, but not southern Thailand. Any strong recommendation as to whether it's better to bike down the Eastern side of Thailand (via Nakhon Si Thammarat and Hat Yai) versus crossing over to the west around Surat Thani and going down the west coast (via Krabi and Trang)? Thanks.
  14. From an ecology point of view, I question the interest in spending a lot of money to develop those regional airports. Perhaps the money would be better spent in developing the train infrastructure at this stage. For info, France has now essentially outlawed domestic flights. Short haul flights evidently are considered major culprits in polluting the environment and the government wants to encourage using the high-speed rail lines. Seems like a good idea to me.
  15. I am very sad and disappointed not to see Pita become PM, and to see in general how this "democratic election" has evolved. BUT... let's get the facts correct. The "majority of people" did NOT vote either for Pita nor the Move Forward party. As far as I know, they received 148/500 votes, so not even quite 30%. Yes, they were the party that received the most votes, but this is NOT a majority of the votes of the representatives.
