  1. I turn 66 in September this year and I am trying to find out how best to make my application. On the DWP website they say that if you are applying from abroad you must complete their 24 page application form, which requires details of every employer you have worked for in your life, as well as mountains of other pointless stuff. A couple of people I have spoken to have said the best thing is to start six months ahead by phoning them and avoiding all the form filling. I would be grateful for any advice.
  2. Thankfully Fascino now has Tetracycline 500mgs back in stock. It appears to be a new supplier as the box is a different colour, but I am just grateful that I can access supplies again.
  3. I have tried Fascino and many other pharmacies across Pattaya and suddenly no one stocks Tetracycline. I am confused about what is happening.
  4. When I moved to live in Thailand over twelve years ago I had been using Monocycline to prevent sub-dermal folliculitis (nasty pus filled abscesses in my skin), but cannot obtain it in Thailand. I tried Doxycycline but it made my skin subject to sunburn. Then I tried Tetracycline and it has worked well for all these years. No suddenly I can no longer find Tetracycline anywhere in Pattaya, and I have no idea why. Does anyone know what has happened to the Tetracycline supply?
  5. Next year I will start to receive my UK State Pension which on top of my NHS pension will give me the 65,000 a month income and could potentially free up the 800,000 I have kept in the bank for my annual retirement visa renewal. How do I demonstrate to Immigration that this is valid? I usually transfer my pension monthly using Wise.
  6. Here I am again, booked a trip back to the UK for the first time since I moved to live in Thailand twelve years ago, and concerned to read a bout the new covid variant emerging in the UK. I have not been able to find access to a vaccine in Pattaya recently, does anyone know where I could go?
  7. Just wanted to say thank you to all who helped with information about Bang Lamung Hospital. I went yesterday morning and the service was efficient and friendly.
  8. I hear that Pattaya City Hospital no longer provides the vaccine on Friday mornings. Where can I access the vaccine now in Pattaya?
  9. I believe that in the UK they accept my Thai licence without any need for the International Permit from Thaiand
  10. I have been living in Thailand for almost twelve years now and have booked a trip back in September. My UK driving licence expired years ago. Is it possible to use my Thai licence to rent a car and drive in the UK?
  11. It is tempting to skip it altogether as there appears to be no actual record of the paper requiring me to report. However I am far too scared of Immigration so thank you ubonjoe I shall certainly do it on the Friday.
  12. I have supidly booked a trip away from Pattaya on the day I am due to do the proof of 800,000 still in the bank 90 days after renewing my retirement visa. Is it possible to do the report early? Due on a Monday so I would have to do it on the Friday before.
  13. Over the last year or two the cutting down of large, old trees on empty plots of land around the condo building I have lived in for eleven years has been really sad. These beautiful trees provided shade and a lovely environment. This land tax nonsense is ridiculous and is causing serious harm to the environment.
  14. I looked at three optician shops in Terminal 21 and this one looks like good value and rapid service. Anyone had experience there?
  15. I had two doses of AstraZeneca, 12 weeks apart, then three months later Moderna. Any advice on when to get fourth dose, and which vaccine would be appreciated.
  16. I would recommend Ali Baba, Pattaya Klang, close to beach road. Not cheap, but excellent food.
  17. Sadly I do not believe for one minute that their votes are even counted, and the General is not giving up the power he seized seven years ago anytime soon.
  18. With the UK infections at over 52,000 a day there is no way that Thailand should allow visitors, should be on the Dark Red List for now. Much as I would really like to see my friends who usually come here for the winter months the risks are too high now.
  19. Yesterday the lovely doctor who first diagnosed my diabetes a few years ago told me at my quarterly review appointment that I could stop taking the Glipizide now. So I am on Metformin 500mgs twice daily now. When I was first diagnosed my blood sugar was over 600 (safe level 90 - 130) and I had to go on Insulin for the first three months. I have lost a lot of weight, down from 97 kilos to 79 kilos now. The doctor indicated that there is some research to show it may be possible to actually recover completely, but I would need to lose a lot more weight rapidly. She talked about Intermittent Fasting regimes, which I need more information about. Any thoughts?
  20. Looks like O'Garas on Pratumnak is the latest casualty and has closed down. Sad.
  21. I have been travelling from Pattaya to the Red Cross Clinic in Bangkok every six months for several years now, where I see a really good doctor and receive six months stock of my HIV medication. I strongly recommend them, so welcoming, friendly and professional.
  22. Thank you Sheryl, you are always so helpful.
  23. I apologise for mentioning this sensitive subject. Bleeding is increasing, though no pain. Is there a competent doctor who might advise me in Pattaya?
  24. First dose of AstraZeneca vaccine on 7th August at MedPark Hospital in Bangkok. Second dose booked for 30th October. I would consider a booster dose of Moderna, which I would be happy to pay for, six months later.
