Chinese must be more hard core. I would never go to, say some sandy muslim country, where the populace proclaims the white man from the west is the devil incarnate.
Yes but you're not everyone

The Chinese will be the first tourists welcomed back when the virus subsides.
Obviously as they've gone past the curve first

Its very sad that most farangs do not know the rules of engagement
vis a vis hos.
The first thing you do upon entering your room is make a very obvious show of removing your valuables...
wallet, ring, chain etc...and putting it in your room safe. This clearly says....all I have is now secured.
They won't steal anything after that...except perhaps your heart.
If a ladyboy is discovered, apologise profusely, go over to the safe and remove100-200 bit and say 'for taxi'.
If the boy doesnt budge, secure all sharp objects, toss them under the bed...then call reception and say
lady make problem in loom.
How hard is that?
you put all your valuables in the rooms safe before you go out for the evening, only taking your phone, key and enough money for the evening, thats the most you can lose then. (roof safe not impregnable but at least items covered by travel insurance if in it and can use a spy cam clock pointed at it). As for jewellery - its stupid to take any on holiday anyway

a thinning down of the bars wouldn't be too bad a thing, Pattaya is a lot more spread out now than it used to be, so even with a decent amount of visitors it gives the appearance of being even more quiet than it actually is because people aren't concentrated in just a couple of areas any more.
Also means on my next trip I won't encounter as many people crying about when 'it used to be 75 baht to the pound and girls were nicer then yawn blah blah"
Prices over there haven't risen in a long time, so the less curmudgeons there thinking prices should drop everywhere when it's their own currency thats weak then the better for me - I can adapt by buying less Lady drinks which are a waste of money anyway. Ex pats can always move to Vietnam, you managed to leave your drab country so I'm not too sympathetic
