  1. I feel the need to elaborate a little more: I am not a Danish citizen, but lived in the country for almost 40 years, worked and paid my taxes. They are high looked at it from outside, but when you think of what you get for them they are much more reasonable. I did not have to think about social security or health insurance, not paying at all for hospital, doctors consultations, my children went to good kindergartens and good schools. They received a first class university education ( 1 MA in political science and 2 medical doctors, all three with excellent jobs) for free from two universities ranking on 82th and 149th of the ranking system of the worlds best universities (Copenhagen and Aarhus). Not only did they get a totally free education until the age of 28-29, they also received money to live for since they were 18 years old. No expenses for parents or students, and if they had occasional jobs it was to finance travels and alike. - I think we received a fair share for my taxes. - But now I live full time in Thailand for the sixth year, nothing left in Denmark except children, grandchildren and a pension generated from my 40 years working in the country. And I think it would be reasonable to pay my taxes in this country. Of course not the same amount like in Danmark, because the standard is not comparable. In Thailand I need to pay for a lot of things I got for my taxes in Denmark like health insurance or education. But I still think it is reasonable to pay taxes in the country you are part of. And I think it is nonsocial to avoid paying taxes. - If you still think I am "playing the fair game with the typical liberal mindset of civic responsibility when the tax rate of your residency is lower than your mother country" you have missed some very important details - and maybe you cannot see that.
  2. I think it is rather fair to pay tax in the country you live in, and I have no respect for people avoiding paying taxes. But I would prefer paying tax of my pension here rather than in Danmark like it is now because of the double tax agreement between the two countries. I know that many countries don’t tax pensions, but DK does (37 %).
  3. I’ve lived here for five years, but never been to KFC, McDonalds, Burger King. Just don’t like their food. I love thai food and italian food. Sometimes arabic or indian, but I definitely prefer thai, best food in the world.
  4. I got my first BioNTech/Pfizer jab in Udon Thani at the university two days ago, wednesday. Jab 2 will be 15. september with BioNTech as well. There is vaccination only for foreigners living in Udon this week. Even though successfully registered on Expatvat I did not hear anything from them, but got an email from the privat hospital AEK Udon where I was on a list for a jab!! They offered the extraordinary service to inform everyone who is on their list, that they can get a jab for free elsewhere! And AEK Udon did not require payment in advance for being on a waiting list. They are loosing potential customers by informing like this, but offer a service one cannot appreciate enough! Their email informed where and how I could register and receive the jab. - And until now nothing from Expatvat!!! The whole procedure about registration and vaccination has been smooth and very professional with minimal waiting time - the whole thing took maybe 45 min inclusive 20 min rest after the jab. Very well organized! Thanks a lot to the people of the MoPH, to BioNTech for developing the vaccine, to Pfizer for producing it and to the American Government for paying for it and donating them!

  7. Yesterday (wednesday) the thai GF (under 60) got message to show up at Udon Thani General Hospital today for her first jab. She just returned after getting Sinovac shot and a new appointment for 7. sept. for AZ. She asked why they are taking her under 60 before me at 67. "No farang" was the short answer.
  8. I fully understand that you took what was offered to you, but it is still queue jumping. - But this is so normal in countries like Thailand and not easy to get used to when coming from a country like Denmark which started vaccinating their population at Christmas 2020. They followed their plan, medical front personal, the elders and sick and so on. The danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen is 43 years old and got vaccinated 4. june 2021 when it was her age groups turn. - Why should there be special rules for her and her government? They are only here to serve their country and the people who voted them. - See, that´s how things should be done!
  9. I registeret on the 1. august and got a return mail that my registration was succesful. That was the last time I heard from them, even though they wrote that I would hear the 10. or 11. august at the latest. I watched my mail many times every day since.
