  1. Got my delivery today, but they didn't have what I wanted (Fresh Linen Scent) and instead delivered (Outdoor Fresh Scent)..... hmm. Will have to wait and see.

BTW: I ordered my items online and paid via credit card, the receipt was all in Thai,... the receipt did say that it the item I ordered was not available and replaced it with the next available item.

Somewhat disappointed that the online system did not have a live tracking system of their inventory.

  2. To mikebell, yes those are for use in drying machines.... I used to line/air dry my laundry... but with my limited space I decided to use the "common" dryer. Long story short, I've very very picky with the smell/scent of softeners. I have yet to find one that is similar to Bounce.

After searches and searches on google, google manages to spit back to me a link to Tesco Online.... I just ordered my batch and I'm hoping they will deliver it on time!

  3. License of a route has nothing to do with this particular air crash.

Ultimately, the air traffic controller has the authority to allow take off or re-route landing of aircrafts. In this case, the tower gave permission to take off, so it's not the pilots fault. The pilot does not negotiate license routes, this is done by senior management.

Once in the air, the pilot has FULL authoritiy of the plane, requests can be made to the air traffic controller, but it's still the pilot that has full authority once in the air.

I have a feeling that the Indonesian transport ministrary is just trying to deflect the criticisms from their last Malaysian Air snaffu.

  4. ATM's work 24/7 by multiple banks.

You can pretty much do everything online now, from transferring funds to 3rd party financial institutions either domestic or international. You can also pay bills online 24/7.

What banking services do you require that demands banks to stay open for no less than 3 or 4 consecutive days?

BTW, you can search online using any of your favorite search engines for "2015 Thailand Public Holidays BOT". BOT stands for Bank of Thailand, as some holidays that are public may not affect financial institutions. I hope this information can help you plan your 2015 financial year.

FYI: The government at anytime can declare public holidays that affect financial institutions, in which case, you may go and direct your query to the government. I believe the current government has a hotline number to take on questions and complaints.

  5. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Perhaps if the airlines spent that much money upgrading locators, there wouldn't be anything in it for them. Would it save the loss of the plane? Reduce insurance premiums? Save fuel 555? Reduce the payouts to families?

What would they gain? They are bottom line oriented.

A new law couldn't cover every country, could it?

How do you get it done?

You're right -- aviation is a bottom line industry - as are most. Safety is a cost to be taken away from potential profits. The thing everyone misses is the cost of insurance. If insurance companies are making big payouts the premiums will rise. If <whatever> safety technology convinces the insurance companies that their payouts will be reduced, then it'll happen. SAR operations are sometimes charged to the victims - same as you pay for the ambulance on the streets here. In the light of the massive search operations now underway for 2 missing aircraft -- that would be an interesting equation,,,,,,

Pilots are urged to make the straightest possible route, minimizing fuel burn. It's a form of reducing costs and maximizing profits. Had they been given the correct incentives, this plane may have landed just a bit delayed.

All this talk about locators / trackers / etc do not prevent air crashes. Crash prevention is a combination of training and minimizing risks, unfortunately, financial profits is the bottom line.

  6. Keep an eye on the US news on the 1.1 trillion spending bill, if the bill passes it will buy some time.

I read in the news the other day that the Thai government is also going to do some spending to "help" the economy.

Old news, but the Thai auto industry isn't doing so good. I don't trust the data that I'm seeing/reading but I think the Thai auto industry has been in the down trend for the past year or so.

  7. I've seem many many kindergartens and nurseries. The first thing I spot is the adult to child ratio, if it's not satisfactory... then hell no for my child.

There are no regulatory standards and inspections in this country, therefore it's all up to the parents to use the thing between their ears to determine the welfare of their own children.

Want safer environments for children?..... first... regulate the automotive window tinting. No reason for vans to be so heavily tinted. Malaysia has a law and enforces it to the letter, if they can do it, surely Thailand can do it too.

Don't understand why?.... ask and i'll be more than happy to explain.
