  1. Am sorry if I am of this topic, but most of you people on here have either residency or a real love for Pattaya, particularly Jontien. (Spelt right?) I have been to Pataya once, a year ago and found it so amazing, not just sex, but calm and so beautiful people. I am now applying for a visa to stay long term, I am 74 years of age so ladyboys and unbelievable sexy thai ladies , whilst would be good, too old for that. (Beer is good and better.) So what I want is a studio, or maybe a one bedroom condo, cheap as, and i mean cheap, i can pay a year up front, if it is cool, but what I really want maybe close to beach but maybe a pool. Real place is a close area to nightlife, for entertainment that is so I can have a few cleansing ales, talk with a few people, then an easy walk back home to what should be my home. Make sense?
  2. I would love to live in a condominium, with ex pats, but have contact with fabulous food and pools and beaches. Too much requirements? Pattaya area soundscool. I really look forward to residential people, particularly ex pats for recommendations.
  3. Also can I say that the recommendations from all of you are so very much appreciated. Am thinking thaty all I need to do is arrive on a non visa, contact a reputable agent, and move into maybe Jontiem, spelt right?
  4. Where will I find a reputable agent as this sounds like the best advice. Total income with super and pension in AUD is $30,000 pa or 700,000 baht Can someone recommend an agent, reputable, as it sounds the way to go. Thanks so much.
  5. I did ask earlier about a reputable agent to use for visas and extensions. Any recommendations anyone? Cheers Kermit2404
  6. Thank you Stocky, appreciate a resident's reply rather than relying on heresay from people who have never been there.
  7. Not that I have a drama with any race or religion. Am infact studying Budhhism, dont refrain all that well from intoxicating substances, but have cut down. I dont want to be a full blown any religion, just understanding Thai culture. You will need an agent to open a Thai bank account if you enter with visa exempt or tourist visa.. Where will I find a reputable agent as this sounds like the best advice. Total income with super and pension in AUD is $30,000 pa or 700,000 baht
  8. Am certainly not looking for a palace. The reference to Pataya sounds good. Have been there, like it, though the beach stinks. Will have to find somewhere with a pool or go out of town for a swim in the sea. Cheers
  9. Further, I am on a full pension plus a small amount of super. I dont have a Thai bank account, I live in Tasmania and therte isnt any THai banking representation here. I can certainly fulfill the 800000 baht requirement.
  10. I am sorry about the late replies. Have had a drama to attend to. As said in a later post, thank you all for very helpful information. I assure you I will continue to read this thread and keep you updated of my intentions. Cheers, and thanks again.
  11. Sorry for not replying earlier. Had a problem to take care of. Thank you all for the very valuable input. I shall keep reading and updating this thread for as long as it continues. Thank you all once again.
  12. I know I will have to deposit some funds in a Thai bank but I only plan on renting, does that make a difference?
  13. Thank you, I returned from my last 6 weeks stay and went into Nong Khai province to see Meekong river and Laos accross the shores. Great help and I like your recommendation. Cheers
  14. I am now retired and just about divorced. Age is 74. I have been to Thailand 9 or 10 temes and love it. Not Big places like Bangkok or Patong, but love Chiang Mia, except in February. Been to Golden Triangle, Krabi, and heaps more. Can anyone here suggest a relaxing place and the costs, and visas I will need? (Australian). Sorry for the depth. Cheers Kermit
  15. The current 45 day extension is due to end at the end of this month, but I have read many articles suggesting the 45 days will be continued. (Australian.) But so far I have not seen any official confirmation. Have I missed something?
  16. Wow, thanks so much for your answer. I would like to study at Karon. However location is not important. Where do you suggest I approach a temple or monastery? I should also indicate I would like to assist autistic children with my time for any help I could give. Kermit2404
  17. Also, I should say that, whilst studying Buddhism is a priority, which may be my calling, or it may not have any attraction to me, the culture and people, architecture, beaches and the fabulous street food is something I envy, and would love to participate in with you all.

  19. Hi, I want to live in Thailand but don't qualify for retirement or marriage visa. I only have a 30 day tourism visa as an Australian. I have been to Thailand on these 30 day visa's for about 9 times Would love to study Buddhism, but not take anyone else's job, so no work intended or accepted. I have sufficient funds to live and pay medical insurance so I am not a burden on the country. But not much more. So, where do I go to study Buddhism, and how do I get permission to do so. Also, how do I get a visa to only pursue my studies of Buddhism? And who should I approach? And, sorry for so many questions, but what is the most appropriate visa run from Thailand? Cheers
  20. Thanks Bangkok19, and everyone else. All good information.
