The result of posting before you've read the entire thread..... nevermind. It is what it is!!!
Tax dodging News Corp continues to rip Australia off — and is subsidised by taxpayers to do so.

News Corp retains its crown as a champion tax rorter, yet again paying next to nothing in tax despite billions in revenue.

Take Australia as a comparison, 5 times the size of Thailand, population 26 million, operates so much more efficiently than Thailand and does'nt rely on foreign labor.
"There are more than 1.1 million temporary workers in Australia – international students, working holidaymakers, bridging visa holders, those on temporary protection or safe haven visas – most are ineligible for all of the government's assistance packages."
The above doesn't even scratch the surface when sponsored workers, guest worker, seasonal workers etc. are included and all programs are considered.

For converting a UK licence, do still I need the medical certificate? Can't see why I wouldn't, only it wasn't mentioned when I asked about the process at a visa place.
How long were you at the surgery - do you think there's time to do that in the morning or would that mean hitting big queues at DLT?
I picked up that a 2-year licence is actually good for 1 year from your next birthday - is that right?
Last things first......your first 2 year license is good for 2 years from the date of issue. Birthdays don't come into first license.
My understanding is you'll need the medical certificate until you're renewing 5 year licences. I needed one when converting my home licences and again when renewing 2-5 year. Original Thai licences issued in February when converted to 5 years in February, gave me 5 years 5 months until birthday in July.
As for the clinic it'll depend on how busy they are. I lucked out and walked straight in, no one else there, had blood pressure taken while the certificate was being written; ten minutes tops. The certificate can be gotten at any hospital or clinic. Prices may vary.

@ZergBurger Here is my recent experience from Chiang Mai forum. I do realize you are adding a license so it may be different.

Update Feb 8, 2021. I went to Chiang Mai immigration to get a residence certificate, and asked why i wanted one. I replied to get a license, and was declined the residence certificate. I cannot get a license on a TR visa. Was told to contact my embassy. Sad
@ZergBurger Residency Certificates are available at copy shop across the road. Next day delivery for Bht 1,000. Embassy will cost slightly more but I believe it will last one year, not one month. C-M immigration alledgedly stopped issuing CoR's a while back and won't start again until emergency decree is ended. I updated licenses from 2-5 years at Mae Hia last week........

There are private companies like TransferWise, that also do transfers, they usually have a varying fee structure and a better exchange rate. Often they work out better for small amounts and closer to the banks for larger amounts. However, the money arrives in your account as a local Thai transfer and some extra running around to generate the required FET. TransferWise can take a couple of days.
Bangkok Bank is TransferWise's preferred partner. If using this method there are two pages to advise reason for transfer. The first must me filled in. On the second page scroll to bottom; the option is "For long term stay in Thailand". By doing this it will always show as an International Transfer in your Bangkok Bank account.

The lucky country!
Yeah they're certainly not doing us any favours.......considering TransferWise say they're only paying a mid market rate. Although we shouldn't be paying fees to the RBA.
My money into my bank 'n' I'll take my chances me thinks. Trying to get out of being paid by the RBA could be opening a can of worms I'd rather I hadn't. Going home and regaining residency may even be required.

Can't remember now, but there must be a time limit on relying on the home license and driving permit?
A driver's license from home means nothing without an international driver's permit. Having both you're good to drive for 3 months.
Having recently upgraded from 2-5 year licenses and changed my address in green book within two days; DLT for issuing licences accepted CoR original and copy. To change address in a different office another copy was accepted. Note: This second copy had been stamped and signed (authorized) by license centre. Whether it would work when buying a vehicle to change registration, you would need to consult with your local area office.

Transferwise give you an Australian BSB & Account No.
Give those details to CentreLink and transfer funds online yourself, as required, to your Thai bank account. Takes less than a minute.
While it's true TransferWise give you an Australian Account with BSB; their terms & conditions state the funds must come from an account in your name. Centrelink are not a bank. Are you actually doing this?

All the beds in the OP look brand new and un-slept in to me.......Still, nothing better than a little guilt tripping; "We give up bed for you.", to keep the populace forever grateful.

Is it possible to set up monthly payments direct from Centrelink to Thai bank using Transferwise?
No.......Only from Centrelink to your nominated Thai Bank via the RBA. What rate on the dollar they pay I have no idea about; though I'd like to think it would be the official one. They do waffle on about possibly paying you in USD, depending on your circumstances. So all things considered until I know the RBA's conversion rate.......it'll be into my Oz account to my Thai account via TransferWise for next day arrival.
Scroll to "How we make payments"
"If we’re paying into a bank account outside Australia, we’ll pay you in local currency or US dollars. This will depend on what country you’re living in."
Scroll to "Overseas account"
If your payment goes into an overseas account, we’ll pay you in the local currency or US dollars. This depends on the country you’re in.
The payment conversion is organised by the Reserve Bank of Australia using the exchange rate when the payment's issued. In most cases the money will reach your account 2 to 6 days after it’s issued.

To be clear, I was asking whether the data in the chip under someone's skin could be updated. Please clarify.
.........OTA.
Can the software data in a phone or computer operating system be updated without a psychical connection? i.e. OTA (over the air). Why wouldn't it be possible? Essentially it would just be reprogramming the chip/adding or removing data, wouldn't it?
It's 2021.....nowadays they can tune your car from an office in Motor City America while your having car troubles on the Nullarbor Plain, Australia; or simply just shut it down if requested to by the authorities.
Is this clarification enough? I sure the heck don't understand how it happens; but these things are the reality of today.

Like many here; Defender & MalwareBytes has served me well over many years. I asked myself this question when looking for answers on AV's. "Where do all the paid AV's get their new definitions from??" Answer to self, "Most likely from Microsoft." It's not a decision I've had any trouble with ever.
