Have you been in there ?   I have, for no reason at all....... Purely jumped up charges.....  All they could say was sorry........ Please go away.......  And i don't think i qualify as a moron...... Just a farang......

Since I wasn't talking to you your point is moot......whereas mine to @HashBrownHarry was as you've personally experienced and pointed out. Perhaps he'll get the picture and no fortunately I haven't been in there.

it had not been paid for ,they were still shopping ,the guy is a nutcase

I beg to differ..... she'd hardly be going to an ATM with the goods if she hadn't already paid.

From the OP:- "The Thai lady said that unbeknown to her, her mother had wheeled away her trolley and she thought the one with items belonging to the foreigner was hers. She was wheeling it to an ATM when she was attacked."

^ thanks @UncleMhee but I was wondering how a principal residence overseas is assessed. Is it an asset or is it excluded from the asset test?

If the principal residence is in Australia then it is excluded from the asset test and and as such will not reduce the pension.

I can nowhere find how this works when the principal home is overseas.

After finding and having a look through this link;- https://guides.dss.gov.au/guide-social-security-law/6/1/2/40 I think the freecall number is the best place to find out what you may want to know for future reference @eagleo

Sincere commiserations re your current circumstances.....131673 is the local number for calling from within Oz to Centrelink International Services as advised in the first link provided.

  4. Income and assets from outside Australia

If you or your partner get income from, or have assets outside Australia, this could affect your Age Pension.

    How is it calculated

We include any income or assets you or your partner have in another country. We do this when we assess your rate of Age Pension.

We use exchange rates to work out what your overseas income or assets are worth in Australia. If you have too much, it can reduce the amount of Age Pension you get.

To ask about these rates, either:

Call the foreign income line if you’re in Australia

Call our international phone numbers if you’re outside Australia. Freecall: (exit code) 0018006114136

Since I have been relocated in Vietnam for my job, arrived here beginning of October, i already got my work permit, trc.

Now, I would like to get a local driving license.

I have read that it is quite easy. You need your passport, visa valid for at least 3 months, and your original country driving license.

I came with a 3 months business visa, got a 2 years work permit and 2 years trc.

One my friend told me he used an agent. He paid 2 millions VND. Gave his passport and original country driving license. He went to the driving license office only 1 time and after a week got his Vietnamese driving license.

Is it the best procedure to do?

    I am based in HCMC

    Do you trust your friend?

There is an incubation period, the next two weeks will provide the evidence one way or the other.

Interesting times ahead for sure! This is an update from last night..... possibly from the same source as @Lacessit previous post.

    • From Oct 24 to Nov 23, the woman was in Myanmar. On Nov 23, she developed a fever, watery diarrhoea and lost her sense of smell.
    • On Nov 24, she still had a fever, and developed a cough and a headache. Around 5am on that day, she travelled from Myanmar to Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai by public van.
    • Around 11am on Nov 24, she left Chiang Rai for Chiang Mai by bus.
    • At 2.51pm the same day, the woman arrived at her condominium in a Grab car. That night, she used another Grab car to visit a karaoke bar in the Santitham area with two friends. They smoked a cigarette and shared it.
    • On Nov 25, she stayed overnight at a condominium with one of the friends who had returned from the entertainment venue around 2am. Two other friends who lived in the room opposite came to the room to drink alcohol.
    • About noon on Nov 25, the woman left the condominium in another Grab car. She arrived at her condo building at around 1pm.
    • Between 3.30pm and 8.30pm, she used another Grab car to visit a shopping mall and watched a movie there, had meals and went shopping. She wore a face mask most of the time. She later used another Grab car to return to her condominium.
    • On Nov 26, the woman took a Grab car to a private hospital in Chiang Mai for a medical check-up around 3.30pm after she lost her sense of smell, had watery diarrhoea and a body temperature of 36.9C. She underwent a Covid-19 test.
    • Around 10pm, she was sent to Nakornping Hospital for another Covid-19 test. On Nov 27, the tests turned out positive.

Of the 326 people who came in contact with the woman, 105 were deemed at high risk of infection and 149 low risk. Officials said 72 people were in close contact with her.

    Let me explain it in a simple way;

I am asking if/how someone can watch TV in the CM region by using a system that normal people would understand as NOT requiring a desktop/laptop PC or smartphone or other similar device connected to the internet.

If so what equipment is recommended?

In the old days it was called a TV and an Aerial which came over the airwaves. Now that analogue has disappeared other pieces of digital (not necessarily computer/PC) equipment(s) are required.

In plain language:  I am asking on behalf of a non computer literate friend/no computer available;  Is there a system available in the CM region to watch TV (Thai only if that is all that is available but English would be a bonus) without the use of a PC, smartphones or smartarse comments.

I accept that Electronics, including Boxes, Aerials, Dishes, cables etc may be involved but do NOT want anything connected to the Internet or Telephone/cable systems.

I hope there is someone in the CM region with a constructive comment, either in the affirmative or negative, who can assist!

Equipment, source and price if available would be very helpful.

This very morning in Chiang Mai, Smart TV & aerial works just fine. If he can see Doi Suthep, your friend should be laughing.....Aerials same on Lazada; not much.

Your reply to my quoted remark has no bearing on the words you quote. I have no idea what you are on about.

You quoted my first post to piggy back off of, in order to postulate and  spew totally unrelated narrative to what I'd posted. Why bother to quote something then not bother to address the content? Is it possibly because your post couldn't stand on its own!!

    Get it now!!

What civilians don't want to admit is that when hard men are sent to do hard work that they themselves would not do, bad things can happen. It's easy to talk of rules and suchlike from a safe place thousands of miles away from where the fighting is going on.

IMO no politician should send men to do hard work if they are not leading them from the front.

My response to @ezzra is in context to his post.

Your response is just gibberish considering the Surafend action was in the cool down period post WW1. A deliberate murderous action swept under the carpet as noted; just a few mates having a party, letting off a bit of steam.....nothing whatsoever to do with hard men doing a hard job.

Luckily though there's statute of limitations on stuff or we'd still be in the dark believing a totally false nationalistic narrative; which you appear to be more than happy to adhere to, going on the apologetic nature of your quote.
