Gambling and Covid: Foreigners arrested in big show of force in Pattaya this morning
Image: We Love Pattaya
Every policeman worth his salt in Chonburi and Pattaya was in attendance this morning in a very well publicized raid of a gambling den in two rented rooms of a Jomtien condo.
All the top brass were there flexing their muscles in a show of force against foreigners, illegal gambling and most of all, flagrant disregard for the Covid-19 regulations.
The raid at 1 am in Sai 2 was led by Region 2 chief Maj-Gen Thiti Saengsawang accompanied by the head of the Chonburi provincial police Pol Col Ekkaphop Inthaweewat.
There were also men from all three local Pattaya constabularies - the Pattaya force itself, Nong Prue and Bang Lamung.
International crime officers swelled the ranks of the raiding party.
Arrested were 21 gamblers - 14 Chinese, 5 Thais, I Cambodian and one Singaporean. Taken into evidence were gambling tables, cards and chips.
Ekkaphop said this was a state and national RTP measure against the spread of the virus. He said that the gamblers - most of them foreigners - had a flagrant disregard for the spread of the virus.
They were playing poker style games.
Two rooms on the fifth floor of the building - 517 and 518 - had been rented on a daily basis.
The inquiry would be expanded.
We Love Pattaya reported that five of the Chinese were on overstay and the Cambodian had entered Thailand illegally.
They will all be facing charges related to both gambling and contravention of the Covid emergency decree.

Video: "Farang's" motorcycle accident and rant causes much comment online
video screenshot
Footage that appeared on Facebook showed what happened to a foreign motorcyclist out for a ride along Route 3309 in Muang district of Pathum Thani north of Bangkok.
As the motorcyclist - who has a helmet cam recording the incident - nears an intersection another motorcyclist pulls out and the foreigner comes off his machine.
In Thai the foreigner then angrily has a go at the other rider who shortly after continues the wrong way down the road.
A taxi driver had also come over to join the discussion.
Thai Rath put together a video composition in which they said that comment online was considerable.
Most posted that the foreigner was in the right, was knocked down and received little help. It was right that the other rider took some verbal abuse.
Some said he was lucky it was not a car that could have killed him or caused him to be handicapped.
While others blamed the taxi driver - who they said did not see the incident - for siding with the rider who came out of the road rather than the foreigner.
The incident happened at the entrance to the road leading to Wat Samlae, said Thai Rath.
The angry tirade from the foreigner included such things as "He's in the wrong", "I have a camera", "I'll show you" and "what's wrong with you". It contained several expletives picked up on in the Thai Rath report.

I have to ask myself, do any other countries have no local transmissions, or is Thailand really special, that said if I believe whatsaI'd I am supposed to believe, then that would make me stupid, I think ????
Remember that it was said all foreigners should be kicked out. Maybe they won't return.

Obviously that is going to be either out of the question or at best a very very last resort.
I wouldn't say a loan shark is 'no problem' either with some of the stories i have heard about Thai loan sharks.

I agree 100%. Now tell my neighbours, officials and such. They wonder why i scare them back and its putely because of the amount of cash ive splashed out here over the decades. I dont want special treatment but would like my family not have to be raided checking for drugs and guns or have tourist police out to check all because my inbred neighbours feel inferior and have to act like children and lie to authorities in the hopes of being booted out of the country because my neighbours think they are going to get our farming machinery, land and such.
Crazy but true! And no i dont have guns or drugs but thats what ive had to deal with this past year. Insane!
Whats worse you can have video evidence and make countless police reports of fake police reports made and even the police believe us but no action is taken and this is why it doesnt change. It's embarassing to Thailand. If i was in a better financial situation i would hav3 left already. One things for sure though and that is my family stopped coming many times a year years ago because they dont feel safe.
What province do you live?

What did you fill out at the airport other than a TM.6 ?
Yes your Thai cousin must go because it is his condo and they will have to copy his house book.
