And plural for deer is not deers. But in fairness there is a more complete article in Thai. And in Thai the term ลูก (luke) is used which the Thai use for offspring, humans and animals. The Thai article uses ลูกเก้ง which is literally 'baby barking deer.' Paste ลูกเก้ง into Google translate and you get cub. There are not enough people completely fluent in Thai and English to do all the translations that we read so we should show some patience for imperfect translations or we can learn to read Thai. I agree that this should have been moved to the language forum by the moderators to begin with. The problem is the OP has spaces in the Thai which normally wouldn't contain spaces.I wrote the phrase out without spaces and just asked my wife what she believes it means without telling her what I thought it means. I think you're correct that jpg does not handle small faults very well. It sounds like your issue is different from the OP in that he appears to have some kind of a permissions issue.

The filename and other information is stored in the Master File Table separate from the jpg file so even if the file is corrupt you should still see the filename. From the OP: "Right clicking Properties/Security tells me I have to have Read permissions to view the properties." Have you tried right clicking to check Properties/Security tab for one of the corrupted jpgs? In theory the security information should still be intact in the MFT even if the jpg is corrupted.

As far as the bank is concerned the fact she hasn't any money in her own bank account doesn't prevent her from taking out loans from friends or family or selling off assets to cover the debt she is now responsible for.
