  1. The ashes do not look like drugs, they are opaque ie. they could be used to mask another object.

Remove the ashes from your carry on, advise the loader what they are. They may pass a metal detector over container (if not metal). This was method of operation in Aust. No documentation was required but could help to support claim if required.

  2. Go to Branch Coffee Shop No1.. on beach road Jomtien, great coffee I drink espresso and they give me small jug of water to adjust to taste. Sit in open courtyard with a lovely sea breeze and look out over the ocean. Good menu, lovely decorated juices, drinks etc

Is well down beach road where they launch boats etc so always some activity boats or people to liven the experience.

  3. Olmate you appear to have a very prejudiced view of NZ - Aust travel. It has been many many years since a reciprocal agreement of travel by either country  did not require a passport.

Australia did deport some NZ criminals some of whom had lived and grown up in Aust. nearly all their life (501`s I think called). NZ did not deport criminal australians and there are a lot more australians living in NZ than you would think.

Currently in jail in NZ is an australian convicted of terrorism and is the biggest mass murderer in our history. Shame about some bad kiwis isn`t it.

  4. It was reported on AN some time ago police had raided an accountants / solicitors office in Patong (cannot remember which) investigating similar and is within time frame of date on documents produced in this instance.

By coincidence on thurs. afternoon my partner was sitting in Jomtien Hospital waiting on test results. In waiting room was falang and thai partner, in walked police (DSI) approached falang with documents in hand and asked if he was ....... They all left together.

  5. It is my belief that Thai Immigration do not enforce incoming traveller to have six months remaining on there pp. Could anyone endorse this fact for me.

I recently received my new Non O renewal that coincided with the expiry date of my pp and I was aware of this fact and it was only a difference of ten days so did not concern me.

It is my intention to renew this pp in the near future but would be more convenient to do this at a later date because of current overseas travel plans. I am aware of issues with airline check-in staff overseas.

  6. I have not read all the comments on this thread. Am not a user but had no issue with those that do apart from the inconsiderate people who did smoke in public venues which has always been illegal.

BUT the person responsible for this total fiasco is Anutin who made cannabis legal but never put the necessary legislation in place for the use of.

This is no real surprise highlighted by his incompetence as Health Minister and again in his present ministerial position.

  7. Being the holder of a passport from two different countries and  having used both  to enter Thailand due to being in either country at different times and wanting to apply for a visa to enter Thailand. I have been asked if I am a passport holder of the other country.

So they of this once they enter your name into the database. As I think Dr Jack advised , no need to worry.

  8. Concerning the payment of B2,000 to gran. On the assumption that gran had more than one child and your partner is not the only grandchild but she (you both) is giving B2,000 then gran must be living a very good life assuming there are other daughters, sons, grandchildren who have left school if all contributing a minimum of B2,000.

The vicious aunt, daughter or inlaw? What is her contribution to her mother or mil.

  9. It is my experience having worked in airline security that you are not prevented from taking ashes onto an airplane however you should remove the vessel holding these ashes from your carry on luggage and declare to the officer what the vessel contains.

The reason for this is the ashes are opaque and they may swab the vessel containing the ashes for explosive residue.

Please note this was the practice in Australia approx. 5 years ago.

  10. As has been stated it is the length of time Songkran is celebrated in Pattaya / Jomtien, some nine days. You fearless warriors who relish throwing water over those who obviously do not want take part in your childish fun but you consider it so much fun to douse people in water usually against those moving on bikes or cannot identify you brave souls hiding in a group. Your actions go far beyond the traditions of songkran and it seems you only want to partake in the traditions of Thailand when it suits your puerile behaviour . I may want to throw a bucket of water over you next week and it will be so much fun, you ok with that.

I did travel elsewhere for four days to avoid the jerks who in my years have always found to be falang. To those who suggest we should love being doused even when we do not attend those areas where it is inevitable is baffling to me. I have crossed roads to avoid falang idiots for them only to cross and attempt to soak you however when you then pursue and confront them they then become the wimps they are.

  11. As per usual with Thailand, I think the issues lies with lack of information. I regularly fly between pacific countries and on entry to those countries you are asked to sign a declaration in regard to specific items and as stated by others is a legal document.

I have flown into Thailand on many occasions but have never been provided with any written information or documentation advising on what I can or cannot bring into the country and advising  for example volume of alcohol permitted or regulations pertaining to number of cigarettes (I do not smoke). Maybe this would also be an oppurtunity to advise travellers re vaping regulations.
