  1. Owl, have you tried using the uBlock Origin extension in Firefox to get rid of the pop ups and ads? I normally use pi-hole but when Im traveling I use uBlock Origin and very rarely get any popups or ads.
  2. If you still havent gotten it open yet, you can use a ballpoint pen with a soft plastic tube like in the video below. I helped a friend open the same kind of lockbox using the soft plastic ballpen tube. Basically, jam the tube into the round lock where the key would go and twist, while at the same time turning the handle to open. Good luck!
  3. Good report Owl! I had no idea snails ate the paper off cans. You should ask your French friend whats the best paper to feed them.
  4. Congratulations on 200 pages of your Diary of a Farang in Isaan / Owl Log! Thank you @owl sees all for continuing to share your life there with all of us here. Hope we have many years of updates in the future!
  5. Nice Pics @GarryP! Reminded me of @Assurancetourix(RIP) when he took pictures, he always had his bike somewhere in the shot.
  6. You normally have to have residency in the US State you want to file the divorce in. Luckily, Guam only requires 7 days "residency" to file for divorce there. Fly in, meet with the divorce lawyer to get the paperwork together. Be a tourist for 7 days and on day 8, file the papers. As long as she agrees and signs the paperwork, you're good to go. I would recommend doing a Google search for Guam Divorce Lawyers to get more information. Good luck!
  7. Owl, your pics from your 26-03-2023 Log look very good to me.
  8. As for the pics, maybe try 600px in png format and 800px in jpeg format and upload a few test pics and we can tell you if there is a combination that is good quality and more efficient than your older, larger pics.
  9. Owl, glad to hear they got your upload limits sorted out. Was it number of pics or size? Honestly, the previous pics were much better quality, but if you have to keep using the smaller resolution, so be it.
  10. Owl, thanks for continuing to update us on your life in Isaan; always a good read! Happy New Year!
  11. @LacessitDo you mind sharing more details about your diet? Ive tried low carb in the past but the cravings usually get me after a while. I was always told cheese was off-limits, but the delicious cheeses that you and Owl have posted these past few days have me intrigued. Thanks in advance!
  12. The lady selling the rats reminds of this video of a guy I follow on Youtube.
  13. I thought buying Gold was the Thai way of saving? Am I misinformed?
  14. Owl, dont let your friend Monsieur Vous catch sight of those snails; he may want you to send him some to snack on.
  15. Monsieur Vous, Please pass on to Mr Owl that he needs to make sure the USB thumb drive he purchased is a legitimate one and not a counterfeit (is that word French?). Man disreputable resellers are selling fake 1GB-8GB thumb drives and changing the code on the thumb drive itself to report a larger capacity. Here are some options to make sure he got a legit one: https://www.geckoandfly.com/22803/detect-fake-usb-flash-drives-sd-cards-ssd-disk/
  16. If you have to add water, those are swamp coolers and don't do well in high humidity areas as I found out in the Philippines. We bought a portable A/C unit with the 4" exhaust tube for the hot air and those work very well, as they are basically window A/C units in a different body. I had not heard about ceramic bladed clippers; thanks for mentioning those, I'll check them out.
  17. Are those A/Cs or evaporative (swamp) coolers? I tried a few different swamp coolers in the Philippines and they don't seem to work well in the high humidity. Owl, did you try lubricating your old clippers with some clipper/sewing machine oil? I have an electric beard trimmer that was doing the same thing (pulling hairs) and put some clipper oil on the blades and they work much better now.
  18. I dont think anyone here would complain. I dont hang out here as much as I used to, but I do enjoy seeing whats going on in Isaan.
  19. Great post as usual Owl. Good to see that King Rama IX was remembered with a banner in the parade. I noticed most of the school-aged girls there have a neck-length bob haircut; is that the style in Isaan or a school requirement?
  20. Owl, that really sucks. You might have to take a walkabout to the more popular local fishing spots and see if you can find out who "borrowed" them.
  21. Just got back from holiday in the US. Owl, did your rods and reels ever turn up?
  22. Yeah, thats what im trying to do with my kids. Expose them to a bunch of different ideas and projects so they can see some of what all is available to them and see what interests them. Anything computer related should be a good basis for future job prospects. Anecdotally, I've heard that employers in the US are having a hard time finding people with "computer experience" that's more that just using a phone or a tablet. A lot of younger folks know how to use those but not the network or server infrastructure on the back end that makes all of the online services possible.
