  1. Hi all,

I'm currently in Bangkok under the amnesty after previously having a multiple non o based on marriage, which has expired, and also have extended that for 60 days which ran out back in April.  I have the 400k in the bank which will have been seasoned for 2 months by early September and was wondering does anyone know if a marriage extension can be obtained being on amnesty? I keep hearing conflicting information.

Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable members here can help.

    Cheers.

You can apply for a special 30 day extension. You will need a letter from your embassy.

Or you could try applying for another 60 day extension under 3 of the memorandum for the extensions under this in the police order for extensions of stay.

"5. In the case where an alien applicant does not meet the full qualifications stipulated by the criteria herein or in other cases not specified in this Order but a competent officer equivalent to or higher than inspector is of the opinion that the alien has legitimate reason for staying in the Kingdom of Thailand, the application shall be forwarded to the Commander of the Royal Thai Police or an authorized competent officer for further consideration of the alien's application."

That would be a waiver of the one per entry part of the clause for 60 day extensions in the police order,

Cheers ubonjoe, that's what I'll do then, get the letter and documents prepared but take the Mrs with me, see if can do the 60 days.

  3. Hi all,

I'm a UK citizen, have been on a 1 year non-o multiple entry visa based on Thai wife, this ran out February where I then extended it for 60 days in Bangkok, and was planning on going out to get another one when it expires April 30th.

Just wondering what my options would be now? I don't have the 400k requirements met therefore would I be able to extend my current 60 day extension? Any help would be appreciated

    Cheers

  4. Thanks ubonjoe,

I think this is what I will try. :)

You can leave the country showing both passports and they will transfer you current permit to stay stamp to the new one and stamp you out in the new one.
Then you will use both passport on entry to the country to use your visa in the old passport.
As long as your enter on or before December 10th you will get a new 90 day entry from it.

  5. Hi all,

I currently have a multiple entry non o Visa from HoChoMinh in my passport with an extension of stay valid until the beginning of December this year. I need to get a new passport as it's nearly full. Once I have my new English passport, am I able to just go out of the country and take both passports with me and use my Visa in my old passport and get stamped in on my new passport? Or should I got to immigration upon receiving my new passport and have the current stamp transferred over before leaving?

    Thanks in advance

    Steve
