  1. Let's get real. Thailand Pass is ok, just to validate 2 things: Vaccinations and insurance. 1. Unvaccinated travelers are not welcome so please stay at home. No need for all sorts of exceptions because all the extra paperwork makes and complications are not worth it. 2. And yes, any international traveler should anyway have a medical/accident insurance so why not ask them to prove that you have one. My wife and I just yesterday (24/4) traveled from Thailand to Europe (EU) and we discovered that we wasted a lot of paper to print out 3 sets of vaccination certificates (for checking, for transit in Doha and for arrival in Europe). All wasted, we were not even once asked to show a certificate.
  2. Is it so difficult to measure the exhaust during the annual checkup of the car? If it exceeds the limit, then simply no renewal of the license, car confiscated and send for scrapping. Like most "clampdowns", indeed, this is another farce.
  3. This brilliant man, without medical degree, has prepared his country for as yet UNKNOWN variants. When will this nonsense stop....???
  4. By the way, very often, when I browse the CNN website, with a Thai internet address, I get advertisements of Chang Beer on my screen. To me that seems a very clear violation of the law.
  5. Apparently these nut cases have absolutely nothing better to do. The government should be ashamed of itself to waste resources, tax payers money, on this sort of nonsense.
  6. Shame, shame, shame on those countries that are NOT on Putin's list of "unfriendly countries". They are friendly with a lying, thieving and murdering gangster. They are on the wrong side of history and they will find that out. The spineless clowns who call themselves the government of Thailand will have to come with some serious acrobatics to wiggle themselves out of it, in due course.
  7. 1. if I test positive on either day one or day 5 what happens? Nobody knows 2. Do I have to go into quarantine and if so who will pay for it? Nobody knows 3. What if I test positive but have no symptoms do I still have to go into quarantine where do I go what do I do? Nobody know It is recommended not to come unless you have something urgent to do in Thailand, or until your above very important questions are clarified and answered in such a way that we can trust whatever protocol the government comes up with.
  8. What is the meaning of this "Air Bubble"? No need for Thai Pass? No need for Test-and-Go? Or perhaps just another publicity stunt by the governments of Thailand and India?
  9. Two suggestions: 1. Your mom can use an insurance from her home country as long as it states that Covid-19 is included and that the coverage is for a minimum of 400,000THB 2. Or your mom can wait until the new 300 THB "Entry fee" is implemented. This "entry fee" will include medical insurance for tourists. It has been delayed from 1 April 2022 to a later date because of technical problems with the collection of it. But the principle has been approved. Govt is looking for a way to collect it through the air ticket but there are some international legal issues with it.
  10. "...new entry pathway called TPHS ..." " ...comply with Thailand Pass’s Service Level Agreement (SLA)..." " ...now adding the Thailand Pass Hotel subsystem to facilitate automatic approvals..." " Servers are being expanded for this new approach...." "....a live chat function is being added..." "... The Thailand Pass Hotel & Swab System (TPHS) needs just 10-15 minutes..." Clearly, the got hold of The Book: "Sloganology: The Anatomy Of Slogans And Hundreds Of Famous Examples From Companies, Places, Politicians & Movies". It can be ordered on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Sloganology-Hundreds-Examples-Companies-Politicians-ebook/dp/B003J35K46
  11. Just contact your AIA and tell them to put you in the Immigration database. They maintain a database and as long as your name, passport etc. is in the database you should be ok.
  12. Clearly the limit of 0.2% THC is not followed in the CCSA. Hallucinating is common. Why would India want a travel bubble with Thailand?
  13. There are many, many more things wrong with the Thai beer, wine and liquor industry. How for example, is it possible that Beer Lao, from a neighboring country is the most expensive beer in Thailand? In all neighboring countries (Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam) it costs less than the equivalent of 20 THB a bottle or can. Why is the (apparent? import?) duty so high in ASEAN fellow member Thailand??? Guess, who could be behind this? And the worst thing of all in Thailand is that the alcohol content of drinks is not taxed. The tax on low-alcohol beer is much higher than on the high-alcohol local spirits, just the opposite of "normal" countries (actually, the rest of the world including abnormal countries). Health advocates have complained about this for decennia. Guess again, who could be behind this?
  14. The insurance companies got into trouble because they ventured outside their field of competence. They ventured into the gambling business. Selling lottery tickets with a 100,000 THB (or 50,000) price. You win the price, regardless of your expenses. Get a positive test and collect your 100,000 THB. Insurance is supposed to be a data-driven business. The company offering a policy is supposed to have a large pool of statistics so that they can accurately compute their risks, admin costs etc. and expected profit before computing the premium and offering a policy. Not so the Thai insurance industry. There were zero data, no statistics, no experience, nothing to compute risks, costs, and premiums for the Covid insurance policies. It was pure gambling. And the supervisor, the OIC and the Ministry of Finance, failed miserably in their responsibility and should be ashamed of themselves. Which they are not of course.
  15. "She was charged with theft committed on government property.........."' Is this more, or less serious, than on non-government property??
  16. You will probably not get a new extension because several insurance companies went already bankrupt from Covid policies. The reason being that so called "Covid policies" were not insurance policies but more a gambling tool. The payment from the insurance company was not at all related to the damages of the insured (the cost of treatment) but rather a lumpsum if you were lucky enough to test positive. This made it a lottery. We have several Thai friends who were lucky enough to test positive, collect 50,000 or 100,000 THB and could buy some new furniture.
  17. This falls in the category "If nobody wants to scratch my back then I will scratch my own back".
  18. Another day, another idea, often crazy. For me and my non-Thai wife it means (3,000,000 + 3,000,000 + 800,000 + 800,000) or 7,6 million THB in the bank instead if the 1,6 million right now. I have had enough. We have decided to go back to my home country in Europe. Living there is easier, especially for rich retirees. Those so-called "rich retirees" whom the Thai government says to attract can be choosy. Why should they want to retire in a politically troubled country where they cannot speak their mind, where the government had not been very hospitable to them during Covid and where the paperwork will distract them from enjoying retired life.
  19. The problem is that we lack the "Rule of Law" in this country. Whether it is cannabis, hoteliers suing because they get a bad review, retired foreigners who don't have access to the same vaccines at the same time as Thais, releasing real criminals on one's own recognizance because they are senior civil servants, "Boss" Red Bull being able to escape punishment now for nearly a decade, or missing and found dead activists in Thailand itself and in neighboring countries that no prosecutor cares about.
  20. Yes, the problem is that they change the rules so often and in such a confusing manner that nobody can keep up. Not the traveler and neither the embassies and consulates. It is very common for Thai consulates to not know the rules, or to apply them wrongly. In your case I think yes, travel out of Thailand, get the latest rules on the insurance, get the insurance, whatever will be the flavor of that day, and enter Thailand again. Good luck.
  21. No free Moderna but 1,650 THB Moderna at Bangkok Hospital. Buy an E-coupon on Shopee (THB1,650) and they will send you the link to make your reservation. Available dates start from the 3rd day after you bought the E-coupon. This is the link: [E-Coupon] Bangkok Hospital วัคซีนทางเลือกโมเดอร์นา (Moderna) ล็อต 2 | Shopee Thailand
  22. You cannot get a shot at Bang Sue because they give booster shots only to persons who have had their 2nd shot there. Don't ask me why, no sense, but that is what I (and my wife) found. Today I got a Moderna booster after 2 Pfeizer shots (in Europe). It is an easy process, following the Amazing Thailand protocol: 1. Go to Shopee and search for Moderna. Select the Moderna coupon of the Bangkok hospital. The hospital is a complex of huge buildings on Petchburi Road. In fact, this is the link: https://shopee.co.th/-E-Coupon-Bangkok-Hospital-วัคซีนทางเลือกโมเดอร์นา-(Moderna)-ล็อต-2-i.250344218.12007267023?sp_atk=85edc306-12f9-4f27-8dca-60e2f6e4f3dd 2. Read the conditions. You previous shot must have been before 31 July 2021. There are not many more conditions as far as I remember. 3. Buy the voucher for THB1,650 4. You will receive an email with a link to the hospital and with some up and down emailing you will receive a coupon with a number 5. You use the coupon to book an appointment date and time. The date must be 3 days after the day you buy the voucher (don't ask me why, but for us it worked). We bought two vouchers on 13 December and because we prefer to go on a Sunday, we got our shots today (19 December). But indeed, we could have booked from 16 December. I also don't understand why this is not better know among foreigners but there was an item on it in this group earlier. They set about 700 shots a day there. Location is 7th floor, building R.
  23. He blares out big mouth statements based on nothing. He will have to apologize again and again and again. Sad that such a person can become a minister of health. It does not reflect well on Thailand. And it certainly will not encourage tourists to have confidence.
