  1. You sure you want to fork out all that money to come to ground zero? Hope you read up on everything that's going on in Phuket before you go through with it...
  2. Been out here in SEA long enough to see what happens. Not racist, not negative, stating facts. And it is not my job to come upnwith constructive solutions, it's the government's job.
  3. Not saying it's right, but the only ones complaining are the ones that don't have a lot of money. Honestly, if you go to the hospital in your own country I am sure its 3x's more, which is probably why he's in Thailand. Not only that, if you're insured you're not paying anything. I mean, you really have no say on how someone runs their own country. Like it or not. Why in the world would you go stay in another country and not have health insurance then complain they charge you more.
  4. This honestly would be a big mistake. If a foreigner wants land and have a Thai wife it can be in her name so no real need to own land here. Problem is as soon as they make it law, the Chinese are going to come in and buy up everything and take over. Thailand won't be the same anymore. As a foreigner even I don't agree with this.
  5. I would say before moving to Thailand really decide what you are looking for in the place you want to retire. Every country has it's shortfalls. Although, in 5 years Thailand is rolling out some new home owner options for foreigners (40yrs max). The plus about Thailand is the good food and beautiful landscapes and you can meet some really good people. But honestly no one can really help you on this as you have to decide for yourself what it is you are looking for. Thailand is fairly inexpensive and the food is great but ultimately living here depends on what exactly you are looking for which you may want to detail here so we can give you a better idea if this is where you want to be.
  6. Moderna and Pfizer filed in court to not have any liability if something goes wrong.
  7. I want my wife to get it vut she only has the combo vax option.
  8. If you look at the science behind each vaccine and how they work, why in the world would you mix them as they all have a different approach. Your system will not build strong immunity until you get a second jab of whatever you got first. That's how vaccines work. Mixing helps nothing. Not only that, there's no research behind Mixing two different vaccines. Nobody knows what will happen when you mix them. Looks like free research and development being done in Thailand.
  9. Most complex have this rule. So you don't burn the place down. Most places, even my townhome (HOA), they require you to bbq 20 feet away from the building
  10. I wouldn't waste your money coming to Thailand now. Especially through the expensive Sandbox. Just so you know 2 days of the 14 day quarantine you have to wait in your room for PCR test results. Nothing is open. Most of the people who come are returning expats or Thais. People who have family or business there. Other than that its a waist of money. Curfew at 9pm which limits your travel around the country, crime is up more than I have seen it before, and the vibe now is totally different. One good thing is the beaches aren't as crowded but their is only so much beach you can do before wanting to do more. Covid is out of control in Phuket as well.
  11. It's not necessarily a Thai thing. Take a look at the big picture. In this region and other neighboring regions It's hard to have a serious relationship because half people aren't faithful as there are tons to choose from if someone gets bored. That being said, they are used to relationships not lasting long and not believing someone promising them this n that. Especially if you don't live there they sometimes assume you have a family back home. You just have to keep trying till you find what you're looking for. As I said, there are tons to choose from.
  12. Why not just use the Morchana tracking app they make people download for the Phuket Sandbox? Makes no sense to go looking around for a green piece of paper to show you're vaxed. Everyone has a smartphone by now.
  13. Been back and forth here for about 6 years and I love Thailand but I have to admit, this time around is a different vibe. I am not sure things will ever be the same again thanks to covid. But hey, everywhere has its own bs.
  14. Yes thats what I just said... A day for each test (2 tests req.) = 2 DAYS. compression skills are lacking... 2 out of 14 days you are staying in your room waiting for results.
  15. I won't lie, I am not really complaining. I think the Sandbox was a good opportunity for people like me who have family here to get a chance to come and not sit in a room for 14 days in an overpriced ASQ hotel. But I will also not sugar coat this situation either. Nothing is open (i.e. Malls, entertainment venues, etc.) . Bars renaming themselves restaurants just to open and sell alcohol even though 90% bars are closed. For me, if I was on holiday, I would not want to go through all these financial hoops to come is my point. I think its a good test bed for Thailand but not a situation where someone would pay for a holiday in quarantine. Yes you can move around the island, but to do what? Most people come to Phuket for a quick run, party in Bangla, hit up Phi Phi or James Bond Island, etc. then leave. Bangla is shut down.
  16. 2 days meaning 2 test through the duration of your stay each taking a day for results.
  17. The PCR test only has to be done 72 hrs prior. Any time in between they can get it.
  18. https://royalvacationdmc.com/phuket-sandbox-hotels-packages/ Here's a list of Sandbox Hotels. Show me which ones are 500 baht...
  19. It is a big scam by the government to bring money into the country. I just got here today in the Sandbox program. When I booked my hotel it was like 14,000. After I booked my plane tickets and was ready to go I was told it is now 22,000 baht because you have to pay for 2 covid tests and a special taxi service to take you 2 km down the road to test. TBH I am not sure why anyone would come here as a tourist right now (I am here to see family). You have to pay over priced hotels for 14 days, you cannot leave the island, 2 days out of your stay you are quarantined in your room waiting for covid test results, everything is closed in Phuket and it looks like a ghost town, it rains almost every day all day because of the rainy season. It sucks when you know you could rent a room for about as low as 500 baht but have to pay tripple. Lets not forget, if for some reason you test positive for covid, you have to pay for another quarantine hotel on top of yours and mind you, insurance will not cover that.
