  1. Did my yearly extension in Udon Thani today. i have a fillable TM7 form I have been using. The IO told me the form has been changed slightly. She filled out a new form for me and gave me a blank copy. Does anyone know if there is a fillable form available on line? I will attach a copy of the form she gave me today. I tried to create a fillable form myself but have not succeeded. NEW TM7 FRONT.doc NEW TM7 BACK.docx
  2. Received my new US passport today. Took 2 days short of 6 weeks from the time they received my package.
  3. I read a post saying the US Embassy no longer accepts self addressed/self stamped return envelopes for Passport Renewal. Can anyone verify this? I don't see anything about this on their website.
  4. Has anyone flown on Austrian Air recently. My wife and I are looking at some flights but we are seeing a lot of negative reviews. Most of the reviews concern customer service problems. Not much said about the flights themselves. Thanks for your input
  5. I am leaving Thailand for a couple of months. When I return I will apply for a new passport at the US embassy. 1. I will be in Bangkok with some visiting family and thought I would just go to the embassy and apply while we are there. I understand I need to make an appointment. 2. If I do this will they allow me to keep my old passport while traveling around Thailand with my family? 3. Is the processing time 4 to 5 weeks for the new passport? 4. I was told I would have to send the old passport to the Embassy once I receive my new passport. I assume I can keep it long enough to have all visa stamps etc. moved to my new passport at the immigration office. Thanks for the help.
  6. You are forgiven. Sometimes things get a little confusing. Have a great rest of the evening.
  7. With all respect. My application was less than 30 days before the current extension ends. No sure how the 45 days came up. The explanation provided by UbonJoe makes sense.
  8. Thanks for all the input. I always read it was 30 days and assumed it was from day of application. this is only my 2nd time doing it and the first time was a change from retirement to marriage.
  9. Did my extension recently in UdonThani. Told me to come back end of March to get final stamps. The person who did all the paperwork was new and seemed a little confused. I surmised he mixed up the dates. Not a big deal to me, anyone else seen this?
  10. Thanks for the input. i really appreciate it. When you get old sometimes you confuse yourself. Seems there is so much emphasis on the PCR test which is pretty pricey here in Udonthani (6500 Baht at Bangkok Hospital). Since we have to fly to Bangkok the day prior to our departure for an 08:05 flight the timing is critical. All that said thanks again.
  11. Sorry but I am confused. To fly back to USA from Thailand you need a Covid test within 1 day of departure. I see you can have either the PCR test or Antigen test. Anyone know which is more acceptable (we leave on JAL for Tokyo then USA)? We leave at 08:05, which means we need to be tested and get results the same day. Any recommendations on a reputable place near the Airport to have this done? I have searched several websites but like many things on the internet, there is no way to know if they are legitimate. Bangkok Hospital in Udon say they can do it, but we would have to get the test, fly to Bangkok and have results emailed to us. They are now quoting 6500 baht for this. This is ok if there are no problems.
  12. donx Thank you for the input. I went to the CDC pages and read the orders. I agree with your assessment. It amazes me the Embassy cant interpret this consistently. Have a great day.
  13. ACS at the US embassy Bangkok told me the 24 hour clock starts at the time the test is administered. If a test is taken at 00:01 January 25 it would be valid only until 00:01 January 26 , according to what they told me. Not trying to bicker with anyone just adding what I was told. When I asked them for a list of testing sites, they sent me a list of 556 locations. When i tried to open the links, everyone of them took me to Google Maps. We are still searching for locations to do quick turnaround tests. We have a little time to search but better to find something early.
