And, the whole world doesn't read CNN.

Dude, I think it's pretty fair to say it's international news. The original post was 'outside of Thailand nobody would have a clue about "Boss" and his antics.'

or maybe you like to read it in goblidigkok:

The form had a number of activity types which you ticked if you wanted to do.  Things like driving some older people around, cleaning, English language etc.

yea exactly, same form. The form even had scuba diving on there (!)

Probably wanted to give you a special offer on a health insurance policy.

yea who knows. I'm starting to think they need extras for playing the farang villain in one of those migration videos showing what to do or not to do when entering Thailand or whatnot.  As per my profile image, my looks can be true burden sometimes.

So why didn't you ask for what while you where there?

Yep, I tried asking them again and again both while I was in their office and when they called yesterday but the officer didn't know either.
She was only the one rounding up the volunteers.

  5. When I and my Thai wife visited our local migration office in a suburb to Bangkok for the annual renewal of my visa, the lady migration officer suddenly asked my wife:

"Does he want to volunteer ? "

Now, this wasn't pertaining to the renewal of the visa as we were just about finishing up, but she did ask me while I was yet to receive my new sticker and stamp so obviously I'm interested in keeping myself in their good books.

This is the local office so its the same staff each time.  My Mrs insisted it would be rude to decline so she said we'd be thrilled.

That was 6 months ago so I thought they probably got someone else.

But now they just called me today to lock us in and ofcourse my Mrs assured them we're still available.

I tried to ask again and again volunteer FOR WHAT?

But there's not even a hint.  I tried to ask if it might have something to do with they're needing people who speak English for...speaking..to ...kids? But I received no information.
Then I just learned after my Mrs got off the phone 'IT WONT TAKE MORE THAN A DAY' .

Has anyone else been asked to volunteer ?!   I mean , gee , what are we talking here, scraping chewing gum off the tollway in the burning sun or what?
Of course I don't want to volunteer if I don't know what it is, we only said yes out of fear getting in their bad books. Doubt anything would've changed if we said no, but now I'm on the hook.

not a big drama just kinda odd.

This is so Thailand btw haha

    Any other volunteers out there?

  6. "Drugmakers such as Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer Inc, which is working with Germany's BioNTech SE, are also working to develop vaccines for the novel coronavirus."

J&J would benefit humanity more if they just ceased n desisted.
Its cancer causing talcum powder will finally be stopped in the States but of course not here in Thailand.

I didn't hear any divine voices. Despite years of sitting in silence. Very interesting altered states. Yes. Mysterious ones even. Were those divine experiences? Never occurred to me.

There's a youtube channel by a fella called Benjamin Bennett.
He's using the technique sitting and smiling, each time he live streams it for 4 hrs. The live stream probably helps with the self-discipline to not quit the meditation session prematurely.

Some 300+ sessions, each 4 hrs. (seems kinda crazy ha!)  impressive discipline. He rarely comments. From my limited knowledge of meditation is that you're unlikely to make progress without a mentor.
So you did reach some altered states then?

It has fasinated me for years that people can believe in god and that Jesus was born to his virgin mother .

When you realize that there are so many billions of planets across hundreds of billions of light years.

It must be great to believe in a God and that one day you will be reunited with your loved ones a lady once said to me that she knows she will meet Jesus when she dies,i thought gosh he must be busy sitting down with the billions of people who die.

Do you really believe in him or any of the other Gods ?

Who the heck knows,  but one interesting things often brought up is the occurrence of the Fionacci sequence in nature.

Each number in the sequence is the sum of the two numbers that precede it.  The Fibonacci sequence appears in the smallest, to the largest objects in nature allowing symmetrical shapes in leaves and that famous 'spiral'

If you as a programmer sit infront of a computer with a programming language available to you, no matter how long you wait, the program won't evolve and start write itself infront of your eyes without someone programming it.

One thing I do know, many people who grapple with the big questions gets sucked into a whirlpool of depression.

If 'God' existed in the biblical sense, it's a complete sadist - needless to say.

No it's not rude. It's stupid. Right now I'm on an island. Rayong. Most likely stay till at least till June. Been here 2 months already. I can because I'm rich. My gf 7 yr does not "sell stuff" . Yes I live in Bangkok.

I'm sorry if your northern suburbs folk can't get booze previously. Just means they are fools. Send me pm and I can hook you up with booze anywhere in bkk. Anytime

    Did you arrive yesterday?

Your comment alluded to that only stupid farangs haven't understood that the alcohol ban means nothing.
The old TIT and you surely mustve rocked up yesterday doesn't ring true as many locals I've seen here are in fear of breaching the alcohol ban and mon n pop stores stopped selling too. Ofcourse everyone is a fool for complying but that's true for anyone living under an authoritarian regime, including peeps in the Evil Empire. I wish I rocked up yesterday seeing everything with fresh eyes, that would be been awesome, the mid 1990s here was mostly a haze anyway. 🕵️‍♀️

The gf comment was hypothetical, how could it not be!  All the best~

Here's a trick to get past the ban. Rub your hands with sanitizer which mostly contain more than 70% alcohol - that's more than any liquor on the market - then suck your thumb.

Not as good as a cold beer but better than nothing.

Almost as good as my recipe for Irish coffee:

    1 cup boiling hot water

6 shots of of Listerine original

    2 tea spoon instant coffee

    half tea spoon brown sugar

    Everything is awesome~

If there is a gate in front of your house, will the drivers throw the packages over the gate? Or will they just not deliver the package

Most neighbourhoods have a security guard with some type of boomgate.
It's common visitors need show their driver licenses and get a docket to be stamped by the person in the neighborhood they visit.

The delivery drivers would usually leave the parcels with the securityguard if there's no one home.

Power outtages hasn't been a major issue though it does occur somtimes as well as some water outtages. That's why many houses have spare watertanks with a pump if the main water is down. Our watersupply goes down like 6 months a year..between a few hours to a couple of days. But overall its not a factor to deter one from moving into a house imo.

    Straydogs is an issue
(I can boast that I was bitten by a rabies dog, a bat in the south, and scratched by a 6 month old Tiger (as in Panthera tigris) in the same week. kid you not. but I digress. So in my case I taken the rabies shots so I now fearlessly walk among the stray dogs)
