  1. Would you mind sharing where did you apply for your tourist visa, and how was the process?
  2. Went to jomtien today and got a covid extension (under consideration stamp). I didn't have a tm30 and tried to get one under my gf address, but didn't have blue book photo. Thankfully, the lady was nice enough to tell me that if I show a hotel booking she will give me a tm30 that way. So went out to the lobby, quickly booked a room in agoda, got my tm30, then got my ticket for counter a1, and no one questioned me or gave me a hard time for previous covid stamps. Process was long, arrived at 08:00 and finished at 15:30 (they kicked us out at 10:15 and said they'll start calling us at 13:00), but I can say that compared to the situation at lak si, this office was way more friendly and accommodating. Everyone's objective there seemed to be to get you what you need to get the stamp you need. My existing covid extension wasn't set to expire until 9/21, so they accepted my application 30 days early.
  3. Went to Laksi today for a covid extension, and I get the lady a lot of you all are always talking about here. Long story short, she says I've been here too long and she won't give me a covid stamp (I've been here since the beginning of the amnesty period and the covid extensions). I tried to politely state I would prefer not to travel at this time, then she said she will give me a 7 day extension which I did not want, so she starts being dismissive of me and tells me now I have to go see the supervisor. So the supervisor wants to know what do I do in Thailand and I told her my partner works here, she asks if my girlfriend is Thai, and I answered Filipino, but looking back I wonder if I would've answered Thai if that would've been sufficient for her... So then she tells me that I should fly to the Philippines, to which I asked why would I do that if my partner is here? After some discussion I get the hint that if I can just show any flight ticket they will give the extension, so I just asked can I buy a flight right now on my phone and would that be enough for her to give me the extension, to which she says yes. I briefly considered my options of going to Pattaya or another office, but then considering my whole day there plus time and travel to try this again on another day, vs the cost of a ticket to saigon which was 1600thb, and I just decided to buy the thing and get it over with, and 30 minutes later I was out of there with my under consideration stamp. Anyways, I'm not here to complain, as actually the supervisor seemed like a very polite and even caring person, and ultimately I got what I came for. I just thought I'd share as a heads up for others, that denying covid extensions at Laksi is definitely something the officers are doing there. Buying a flight ticket seems to satisfy them, but YMMV...
  4. Hi all, my girlfriend is a teacher and has recently changed schools but she has found the new school to be a very hostile work environment and is wondering how to get out from under them. As of now, she has signed a contract for a year with them, but the school has not filed for her work permit yet as they were waiting for her to get a bunch of paperwork done, which she just completed Friday, and her work permit with her old school hasn't been cancelled yet as they agreed to wait on the new school first. So my question is, if she were to decide to leave this current school what would her options be? Could the new school stop her from trying to work elsewhere because she signed a contract with them? A few scenarios she is considering are to go back to her old school because her work permit is still with them and her old boss has indicated there is an opening for her, or she is thinking of leaving the country for a month and coming back in under a tourist or exempt and take her time applying with various schools, but the question on our minds is what power or ability does the new school have over her with the signed contract? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. Thank you for this. One thing I'm still unclear on... What's the difference bewteen her non-b visa status vs the extension of stay she gets once she has the work permit?
  6. My gf decided to leave her job of 5 years and start with a new school (English teacher). Her hr rep at the old school told her to just have the hr from the new school contact her, and the old hr rep has said she will hold off on cancelling her current visa while the new school applies for her new one, but has made mention that she can't wait forever and would probably be cancelling by the end of May. The new school is asking her to apply for a covid visa which seems like not the appropriate way to go about this, but I have no expertise so wondering if anyone whose done this before could offer any advice on the matter? Is it expected that she should change visa status like this, before applying again for a work visa? Is it possible to do this all within country without exiting, or is she looking at exiting and applying in Vientiane? What paperwork if any should she be pressing the new school to file or obtain (as it is not clear yet if the new school is competent in this process)? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. Has the usual location for covid extensions in Bangkok changed? Been reading through this thread and people are saying they're going to cw, and now this place mentored here I had never even heard of... Did muang Thong thani finally get shut down? Just preparing myself in advance so I'll know where to go...
  8. I have some friends who just flew in from Germany and they received 30 day stamps, so I'm assuming this is visa on arrival... Has anything changed with the 30 day extensions since covid began, or can they expect to receive the extension with no trouble? And do they have to wait 15 days to apply for the extension, or can they just go after a few days, as they are looking to be certain about their trip duration ASAP. Also where are the extensions done now, muang Thong thani or chaeng Watthana? Thanks in advance for your advice
  9. Also for those wondering, can confirm through my gf office mate, that there is no roadblock into Pattaya. And for those of you that want to flame; YES she's vaccinated.
  10. Would've preferred rather to not get into this, but my gf and are fortunate in that we were both able to get out vaccines early, as I know most of you are still waiting for theirs and I'm not trying to brag. Even with that, we both work from home, order our groceries delivered, and just avoid contact with people. As I stated in the OP, we plan to rent a car and go sit on a beach, not make contact with locals or sit in confined places with anyone. I'm sure you all are just blowing off some steam, but can't help but wonder if you didn't have anything helpful to add then why not just move on with your day instead of flaming strangers on the internet?
  11. My girlfriend and I want to take a quick trip to the beach tomorrow, probably Pattaya, we were thinking to either rent or just book a grab but then with the recent news of travel restrictions we're wondering are their roadblocks (literally) to us getting there? Wondering if anyone has tried to travel out of Bangkok yesterday or today. Are there roadblocks checking every vehicle in and out on major highways? Without that it seems like an uninforcable rule. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
  12. Until that time do we just go to Muang Thong thani without an appointment? Need to get my follow up stamp for the pending approval (yes I know I'm late)
  13. Been trying to book an appointment to go to Muang Thong thani and the website hasn't been loading for me for days now. Tried different browsers and different devices and it just loads a blank white page. I'm wondering is there a known issue, or maybe I have the wrong link? This is the link I'm using: http://203.151.166.132/immigrant_queue/booking/index.php Thanks in advance.
