The published entry requirements and what the Immigration Officer does at the airport are two different things. A medical doctor friend of mine returned last week from 3 months in Sweden and had a difficult experience at the Suvarnabhumi airport Immigration counter. He was never asked for his vaccination record but the officer demanded that he have insurance and a recent PCR test. The front line officer and the supervisor both said the same thing, unfortunately never of them had any English speaking skills. Fortunately my friend has a Thai wife whom he called and after a 40 minute conversation he was allowed to enter Thailand. So be prepared for either a smooth entry or a difficult entry.
Wow, and this is almost 6 weeks after the requirements for entry were dropped on July 1st. Crazy to thing how behind some departments with relation to what the official new rules are.

@samisaurus Can't help with the requirements question, I'm also curious as I will likely visit in the near future.
Yea mate, totally get it. I used to keep up with this but so much changes/flip flopping from the gov that I lost track what's needed haha.

Coming back to Thailand again in November after having left Sep 2020.
I'm curious what are the current entry requirements for an unvaccinated individual ? Do I need insurance/PCR/ etc?
Also is it currently possible to do visa online (60 day Tourist visa) or does it still have to be done through a consulate?
Thanks

1 thing people here dont mention enough and has been forgotten about is kicking out a lot of foreigners on September 26th. I was one of those that left on Sept 25th and since then I've lived in various countries for several months. Funnily enough all that money i spent in Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, etc couldve gone towards Thailand. Im now in the EU where things are quite open and life back to normal. Most places Ive been going to dont require masks. Thailand couldve had all that revenue from me and the other tourists flowing into their economy, but no..... they wanted to prove a point that tourists have their limits. I still remember all the fear monguering stories by police departments how we'll be arrested and searched after Sep 26th, along with many embassies not wanting to provide letters.
What's the saying again.... Som nam naa ?- 7

Tourism Council: When the pandemic is over Thailand is the first place tourists will visit-> Count me out, there are better places then Thailand.
Not being sarcastic, but genuinely curious.... where would members here recommend ? Im currently making a list for when all this is over so I can visit some of these places. Currently want to explore Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka.

Currently here myself. Left thailand 2 weeks ago. It's awesome, easy entry, no issues. Life is pretty normal.

There's people that literally have left now for no reason other than their embassy wasnt giving out a letter. I know because on 25th my flight out was quite packed as well as Emirates flights. This was all handled strangely.

So it’s 2:30- half an hour after the announcement ended. Only announced the expected STV visa. Time to call it a day I think. Fake story
I thought Cabinet meets Tuesday to discuss?

I’m in Turkey too, but down on the coast.
How did you go about finding a long term apartment rental?
I agree everything is better than Thailand apart from the ability to walk into a building and rent a room.
Unfortunately because it was last minute due to waiting on amnesty, i had to go down airbnb route. Where are you btw, izmir/antalya?

Once in Turkey, a tourist can apply for a 1-year residence permit. No need to exit Turkey for a year. Info in the link.
Legend. Will take advantage of this. Awesome.

I think this is a blessing in disguise.
Not returning to Thailand anytime soon. They lost me and my money
Plenty of countries without xenophobia.

Back to normal. There's tourists from everywhere. Everyone is enjoying life. People wearing mask but also no xenophobia. Place is buzzing. Im currently in Istanbul. Lira is weak so things are much cheaper than 2yrs ago when i was here. Weather is perfect, 25 degrees and sunny daily. Visa here is for 3 months and afterwards I can go to nearby countries that are currently open. Amnesty ending mightve been a blessing in disguise. Also, all the russians that cant go to phuket now seem to be here in Istanbul ahhahaa.

Canadian embassy wasnt giving out any letters. I left on the 25th. Currently sitting in Turkey. Wasnt going to wait for some amnesty to kick in that might never materialize. This was an important life lesson for me because im young.... but basically I learned dont invest anything into thailand and dont plan on moving there permanently in future. Many older members here have stated that and I've learned from their advice. I saw how the country can be backwards. Good to know before i bought any properties/got married there or any of that stuff. That being said im grateful for the extension over the few months and hope they open up soon for the sake of their own people as their economy is about to take a hit.

Now its 2 days more to 26th... Would u think they will have a sudden amnesty extension
That's insane. Won't people have left by then. It's quite risky to stay here on overstay hoping for some special extension... when all the while this has been known since last few months that borders are closed and such. That being said I've already made arrangements to leave and even if government backtracks, things are paid for and I wont be able to cancel and halt my plans.

Same for me.
Waiting now to see immigration comes out with some new extensions that people can apply for. Something is needed for that those that cannot get embassy letters.
Is that possible? Why would they wait until now since they know people are making arrangements? Do they want people to be on overstay while they come up with this ?

They're not going to leak the decisions of a cabinet meeting as it's taking place are they? Clearly it's over.
Ok thank you for clarifying. To you as well ubonjoe. Much appreciated

I just looked and they only mentioned the extra holidays in November and December. Nothing about the amnesty in it.
So is the meeting officially over and all updates have been release/announced?

Aren't news/announcements from the cabinet meetings usually reported about 6/7pm if not later?
Not sure, but I've been seeing announcements from them online at the moment regarding other things such as 1. An extra long weekend & 2. Release of funds to the public.

Meanwhile they come out with news about some dumb extra weekend off and another handout hahaha
