In Mexico, an expat is considered an "honorary Mexican" after just trne years of residency. But having said that, the Mexicans are better educated, less racist, have more knowledge and perspective, are more graceful and infinitely less ignorant than the officials are here.

Reading this makes me want to learn Spanish and head over to south america. It's something ive been considering for a while. Basically run my online business from there whilst living in various countries (Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina) without all the visa hassles and such (Most allow 3 months and then there's various hassle free ways to extend). As well I get the feeling I'd be treated better by locals and from friends who've lived there... they've loved every moment of it.

    Thanks for all your replies.

I am surprised about so many of you mentioning/recommending lazada, shopee etc. Aren’t you worried at all about the origin/quality of those products? I mean, I regularly shop on these sites for whatever „hardware products“ but never for „medical“ products that I would actually consume. I had always considered that to be way too risky. Hmmm, maybe I have to think about it again.

    Thanks again!!! You’re great! ????????

So from from shopee I've purchased Psyllium husk, Inulin, Whey protein, Almond flour, almond extract, and a bunch of other things. Never had any issues and product quality has been superb. Be sure to buy from reputable store and just make sure the product has been review several times by others and you're good.

You only forget that the typical longstayers here will all think like that, as it always is at embassies or at immigration (last minute all come), you might have a hard time getting papers and tickets in time. If im not wrong there is like 50K ppl that leave soon. And being late means blacklist.

VERY TRUE, and perhaps I should consider maybe starting to book things from now just to avoid any issues.

Not sure about "Vietnamese Noble Girl" but a former Thai GF of mine for 3 years was 50% Vietnamese (father refugee), 25% Chinese and 25% Thai (mother half Thai/Half Chinese). Exotic for sure. Problem was that I was paying for her and her 2 sons (9/11yrs) with schooling was making me broke. When she asked for a raise in "allowance" to 50,000 Thai Baht/Month that was the end.

MGTOW is the way, or the red pill at the least

Without knowing your story, I can't know how you are relating irony to it.

In my case however, im serious.

I chose to leave Thailand because of the Covid.

But as it was, things weren't going great before then.

I could see myself getting groomed as the lone provider, for a lady and her young son, which means it will most likely be a long and endless money pit.

Thais dont really care about you going through all your life savings, as long as its spent on them.

Of course, they know very well that when your money runs out, you will be forced to go home and you will then be "out of their hair"

If you are older, financially set up,

and have future cash streams incoming, then it might not be a big issue.

Me, i am 45, and retirement by Australian rules is a LONG way off.

Thinking about a good 20+ years of expenses..and then how much more $ to see me out??

Its a no-brainer that sinking funds into houses i can't own,

Thai womens offspring, which i shouldn't really be responsible for....

And in a country where you are forced to jump through hoops EVERY year, EVEN when your married!!!.....

well that's suddenly starting to sound real dumb since ive actually got out of the place.

So yes, Covid might have saved me.

Dodged a bullet mate.... you're free now, to do whatever U want, go wherever U want, all hassle free

In my opinion, you will be difficult to tell/teach him what to do or move out as others in this group say. because he is old and I’m not Sure he will obey you. You are. It his dad. Teenager is difficult to teach. Better find the girl without kid. Easier for you. Hehe. Hope you decide smartly.

I agree with this. Honestly he should leave his gf and get a vietnamese noble girl. None of this nonsense

I don't get you guys.  Many on here keep banging on about why they want tourists to leave.  Does it not occur to you that maybe you're not wanted here.  How about maybe, just maybe, they are tired of being called everything but a child of God and would just like to clean house.  Or, consider they don't care about the money you've spent or are spending.  There is no better time to reset expectations, and maybe massive tourism isn't in the cards anymore - it's been hinted many times over by the powers that be.

And, the incessant number of people calling this their "home" when anything short of permanent residence and/or Thai citizenship makes it so - in spite of the house, condo, car, truck, wife, children, swimming pool, and school tuitions you've perhaps paid for...

I realize this post was originally referring to Indonesia, but I just happen to be in Thailand, and it's the same story regardless.

    This true as well

I think you will find they are not exactly tourists 2-3 months after they were scheduled to leave. Many have opted for an extended stay, taking no action to get back home. The whole idea of amnesties was to help those genuinely stranded, not to keep tourism going.

I agree with U, but the people in Bali rely on 1 thing mainly... That's tourism. Y evict the ones already there when U know others arent coming in. Especially not when their governments either don't allow the to fly out or will quarantine them upon returning. Im surprised governments aren't making financially sensible decisions here , especially when U know the overstayers aren't infected.

I think you have options, provided you haven't had the '7 days to leave' stamp already (e.g. extension denied). At Jomtien immigration, agents near the queue were openly offering 1-3 month extensions to people waiting - quite pushy about it in fact. Prices started at 15-20k+ from memory. I don't know what kind of visa they use, but I feel it can't be so under the table to openly offer it like this to all and sundry. I read it maybe leverages a medical visa, technically legal but 'off label' so to speak - but really I'm not sure.

    Thanks Jacob, much appreciated
