  1. It's always the "Deputy" ministers, or the Permanent Secretaries, who do the dirty work or embezzle the money. Ministers and the the pm can claim they know nothing, while their retirement funds grow exponentially. And everyone pays a tithe, so this is the way things work in the kingdom of thailand.
  2. I binged this. 9.5/10 for me. I haven't read the books, so can't comment on the faithfulness to the original material. Have to assume that, as an Executive Producer, Michael Connelly was happy with the results?
  3. Sorry, you lost me with your thread title, what is an "American T-shirt"? Cease and desist. I know you want to be the hero, but in the end you will only make the situation worse.
  4. Ms. Griners "detention" has just been extended by one month. Internal Russian sources report that Russia wants to swap Ms. Griner for the Merchant of Death, Viktor Bout, who was famously apprehended in thailand, and extradited to the U.S. where is was tried, found guilty and remains incarcerated. Reports: Russia wants 'Merchant of Death' in exchange for Brittney Griner https://sports.yahoo.com/russias-asking-price-for-brittney-griner-may-be-notorious-arms-trafficker-004449470.html RUSSIAN NEWS AGENCY 13 MAY, 14:16 Businessman Viktor Bout may be swapped for basketball player Brittney Griner, source says Viktor Bout was apprehended in Thailand’s capital of Bangkok in 2008 following a sting by US federal agents https://tass.com/society/1450359?utm_source=sports.yahoo.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=sports.yahoo.com&utm_referrer=sports.yahoo.com Russian Arms Dealer Viktor Bout Back In Thai Court https://aseannow.com/topic/403201-russian-arms-dealer-viktor-bout-back-in-thai-court/
  5. Yes, maybe 7 - 10 "years" I gathered. This Enterprise crew was in Season 2 of Star Trek Discovery. I watched five episodes. Maybe two from a "Season 1" and three from a "Season 2".
  6. A phone which MINT sells. https://phones.mintmobile.com/phones.html And you thought it might be light green, and smell so nice. Yeah, T-Mo is out of that business, have been for a few years. No sense recommending something you can no longer obtain. I too maintain my long-standing T-Mo number, $10 every 90 days. T-Mo sloughed off the pond scum to UltraMobile, which have a $3/month plan with international roaming and WiFi calling. Works flawlessly here. Best solution for infrequent OTP use.
  7. In McDonald & Dodds, the chief inspector (boss) says to one detective while recruiting her for their diversity brochure, "You tick boxes we haven't thought of yet." I'm thinking a fair number here would have been whinging ~ 1680 England about replacing male actors with female actors for female roles. "What's the world coming to?"
  8. This honestly sounds like a statement someone might make if they, well, had the symptoms you so expertly describe. Honestly? I wasn't sure what you were joking about. I see now that you are just uninformed.
  9. Drop it for anyone who is vaccinated. Drop the insurance for anyone who is vaccinated. Airlines can verify vaccination status at boarding.
  10. Yes, some smart TV's have a Disney + Hotstar App, or can run the Android TV version. Depends on the OS. There is a hack for Samsung TVs, which involves spoofing an Indian "location". There may even be a Samsung version now for thailand, I haven't checked recently. And yes, Android TV boxes and other hang-on devices can run a version of the app. For others, they use the built-in casting option of the mobile app - might be the easiest to use actually. Obviously you need a casting-supported TV or a casting-supported hang-on device.
  11. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XL4iCAB6MFo&t=57s Two eps, from the Paramount + show. Enjoyed the first ep. The crew/cast were introduced on Star Trek: Discovery, Pike, Spock and Number One, and are eminently likeable. The plots may be too wokey for some here, not unlike they were with TOS in 1966. +1 on Grace and DI Ray. Uhm, no, it's not the National Anthem (Peng Chat).
  12. Original story... https://aseannow.com/topic/1254626-foreign-fireman-takes-two-ladies-back-to-his-room-they-put-out-his-flame-in-more-ways-than-one/
  13. Ya, the airholes and screen probably were giveaways. Paging Samuel L. Jackson.
  14. Well, you need the SIM to log-in, initially. And you need to keep it funded so they can pull the monthly fee. And it might be best to not let it expire. So I would answer, yes, and yes. Devices stay logged in. but occasionally you need the OTP SMS to log in again, or to share a log-in. I was able to load the app. on my Chromecast (with Google TV), and can still cast the app from my phone directly to my TV or to my TV via the Chromecast.
  15. Is this one single financial services provider? Do they offer a mobile app? Maybe try this, and a free Android VPN to trial a potential solution. If a VPN resolves your issue, and it should, then consider subscribing to a VPN service. Are you able to Google this provider's name and foreign access or VPN, just to see what others are doing? The provider uses AWS, and has added a 'blocking' rule, perhaps as a result of perceived intrusions rather than excluding foreign use. I mean they have customers who travel internationally, and want/need to access their accounts/portfolios. I might even contact them, if a Google search didn't reveal any issues, and ask how you can access your accounts during your extended upcoming international trip. I use Nord, when I need a VPN, which is pretty rarely. Maybe with some government services? And Experian. My other finserv/credit card don't require a VPN.
  16. Sorry, should have searched for this and posted it previously... The mBanking app can be a little tricky, both moving to a new phone, and adding a second phone. I managed it both times, but certainly had an issue or two which took a few minutes to sort out. https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Digital-Banking/Bualuang-mBanking/How-to-Use/Reactivate-App Scroll down to Change Mobile Device
  17. This one. Or just have her order it from the thai Apple online shop (is it still fulfilling out of SIngapore?) for delivery to you. Nevermind. Next time lead with this. You mean "if" you receive the package. Two issues: VAT Importing radio technology without a license Excise has clamped down since the cross-border VAT agreement put in place last year. Good luck, some stuff gets through, obviously. Other stuff ends up in the local market. Absolute minimum would be 7%, not sure about shipping? Maybe ~ $100-ish?
  18. Do they make this statement/qualifier in other cases? The public has pretty much made their minds up on this case, one way or the other. Having the police act as if this were a normal investigation does no one any favor. Solving crimes is best left to the actors on prayut's favorite tv show: Bluebloods.
  19. Uniforms - check Hairstyle - check Prostration - check Corporal punishment - check Crappy food - check Ratty textbooks - check Marginally qualified teachers in debt to their eyeballs, twice over - check Filipino "English" teachers - check 30+ classroom size - check MoE Bloated Budget - check Learning - Meh
  20. DS2 not pirated yet. Large screen theatres aren't for everyone, especially you, so we agree on something. Well that and the ability to rationalize anything. First it was the viewing ratio. Then it was the snacks. You do know that snacks are portable, right? facepalm.
  21. Huh? https://www.mintmobile.com/faqs/can-i-bring-my-own-device-2/ Borrow a real phone from a friend here; it will work fine. You wouldn't be able to get a local roaming signal if your IMEI were rejected for HW incompatibilities. We can see the R on the photos you've shared. Honestly there's no reasoning with you, I can see that, finally. Maybe search the forums here for the latest shipping options. I think DHL may be the preferred option, but I don't stay up to date on those threads. MINT supports WiFi calling, but the OP's flip-phone doesn't support that.
  22. Yeah, let's all joke about elderly thais suffering from terminal illnesses. Clever aren't you. Maintaining an appetite, and getting the proper nutrition, is a challenge in these cases. If some herbal remedy, with minimal psychoactive ingredients, help ease the final months, I say go for it.
