  1. Fourth-grade Christian school approved "science" book...
  2. No can do. USPS won 't handle battery devices to thailand. https://pe.usps.com/text/imm/tz_004.htm You could buy a phone here and I've tried to appeal to your rationality on this subject, but you seem committed to buying a phone in the U.S. What are the advantages to re-shipping via your children? Just order direct and have it shipped here.
  3. Sure, if that's the biggest screen you have access to. Note to self, you could also move the bed closer to the TV. Suggest that would be easier, especially for wall-mounted installations.
  4. You mean after an investigation, right? I honestly don't know for sure that this is a private school, I assumed it is not but much of the reporting suggest that it is a "public" school. But it's not referred to as a government school. https://www.facebook.com/MTlikesara/posts/560363505447116 It would be interesting to see what the rules are re: uniforms. I think there is some flexibility, if only for regional/cultural variations. I did not know there is an all white uniform for buddhist holidays.
  5. Look up, first topic here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpxE0Nhbqic
  6. The remaining three thais would be overwhelmed.
  7. Their children, those religious cultists and hippies, survive here. https://aseannow.com/topic/1147972-so-proud-to-be-thai-american-born-funny-man-gets-thai-nationality-at-last/ The Children of God were referred to as a hippie christian cult.
  8. Once you register your new phone you can go into the Buluang mBanking app, App settings, Device management and Delete your old/previous phone. Verify this by the model number or Activated date.
  9. Pastry box is the preferred method. Seriously, this is why I asked this question. There were tip jars at CW, before big joke "clamped down". It wasn't the bribery/corruption thing that was shocking, but the tip jars just looked so, well cheap and vulgar. And staff had "seeded" them. Looked some big old 10 L re-purposed mayonnaise container.
  10. Well before that, "blackface" was still considered acceptable. Thanks Dr. smedly. For the most part these treatments are associated with terminal illnesses and elderly patients, and there are very few reports of cannabis addiction, and certainly no overdoses. So the "getting hooked" thing. Fughetaboutit.
  11. Figures. Schools shuttered for 2 years, IQs go up. Hmm, what does that tell you about the thai education system? Yes, we know the baseline was 2016.
  12. How was this money exchanged? Was there an intermediary or third-party? I'm assuming there was no receipt? Police visit Chon Buri immigration, warn staff “don’t take bribes” Police have paid Chon Buri’s immigration office a rather tense visit on Thursday to deliver a 9 point checklist to staff. Thai media reported that #8 on the list of demands was “Get off your phones and don’t take bribes”, as ordered by the lieutenant general leading the visit. https://thethaiger.com/news/chon-buri/police-visit-chon-buri-immigration-warn-staff-dont-take-bribes
  13. Dr. Strange 2 IMAX 3D - Siam Paragon My first in-theatre experience in ~ 30 months. And to return to IMAX - I forgot how amazing an experience it was/is. The director of DS2, Sam Raimi recommended seeing it on the biggest screen you can. Loved the film - I was a Marvel kid so am into the MCU - and it's an amazing thrill-ride. Benedict Cumberbatch was meant to play this role (including variants), no question. And the supporting cast, especially Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Wong are awesome in their recurring roles. And newcomer Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez crushes it. 8.5/10 for me. Bring on Thor 4. The Avatar 2 trailer is amazing in 3D. Of-note, during the pre-movie ritual only three (3) people stood up, while 50 plus remained seated. Awkward.
  14. This "soft power" mumbo jumbo harkens back to the coffee bun craze of 2006. thai governments have been promoting thai foods for generations. Probably one of the few things they've done well, especially restaurant funding in foreign lands.
  15. So no plan. Not exactly "The A-Team" here. This points to the Emergency Decree being extended another 60 days/2 months.
  16. These situations always play out the same Vague rules, not communicated to tourists "Authorities" randomly enforce the rules "Authorities" shake tourists down for "fee" Vlogger makes video of "authorities" shake-down Maybe a shake down escalates to violence Tourist is arrested Authorities are talked down Much wai-ing at a presser "It won't happen again" Rinse repeat, The circle of life in thailand. See the rent a cops at the BTS multiple times per day interacting with mask-challenged tourists. They've been trained well, so no skirmishes witnessed, although the odd tourists does push back, usually animatedl by waiving their armas and hands about like a helicopter.
  17. "Educational Resilience"? I think she's saying - her English is dreadful in the conference video - she struggles with the word "resilience" - that thailand was woefully unprepared to deal with educating students remotely during the pandemic. And maybe the MoE will come up with a plan and do better next time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLWEez5E_jo
  18. Some friend you are. You let your friend continue down a dangerous path, dId nothing for eight months. And now, for some sick reason, you invoke this friend's memory for attention here? And to make some sort of odd point, which I certainly don't get?
  19. Maybe try the autofill feature? Enter passport no./nationality Click on magnifying glass. That should fill the same info as you entered previously. If it was accepted before, it should again. But one never knows.
  20. Which banking app? Most allow you to register with a new phone, but you'll need to receive any SMS on the SIM/number on file with them. Bangkok Bank does allow multiple phones, and they log the IMEI. Simply install your SIM in the new phone, power it up, have your old phone nearby with bluetooth and WiFi enabled. Google will automagically download your apps, and pull data from either the old phone or your Google drive. Then simply launch the apps, log in and/or register. Moving other forms of data: photos, music etc is best done with a PC, but let's deal with that if/when you need to.
  21. It's already been renewed for a second (or 9th?) season. I'm going to wait, and binge. I did that with season 7 and found it much more satisfying. 10 eps, finishes up May 27. Some of The Wire show runners are involved in Bosch, like Eric Overmyer, so it's similar in that regard re: season arc/focus.
  22. People love to defend school uniforms. The usual go-to argument is that a uniform makes each and every child "equal". Every child above P3 already understands exactly where each fits in the thai social pyramid. Notice that there is no standard mobile phone issued to each student. Everyone knows who the rich kids are, assuming they're even in a government school. Another argument is that it saves parents money. Yeah, sure that's why pawn shops had to gear up for school supply buying season. Yes, I'll stipulate that ISB requires uniforms. Although they look pretty relaxed. A simple polo shirt, and shorts (for boys and girls) would be sufficient. No number identifier. Allow five different color combinations, leaving it up to students to choose. Ease up on the hair requirements. And provide knee-pads if you insist on prostration. Time to try new things as the old ones aren't working. Unless you just want to stifle individuality and creativity.
  23. Sorry, I meant to use the THB instead of USD. From the linked article... According to the revised guidelines, pensioners and wealthy foreigners, for instance, must have insurance coverage of at least US$50,000, to cover medical fees, which is valid for at least 10 months or a social security certificate covering their medical expenses while in Thailand or a cash deposit of at least US$100,000 in a domestic or a foreign bank account for 12 months before applying for the visa. High-income earners must have an average annual income of US$80,000 for the two years prior to applying for the visa. The foreign specialists must produce an employment contract from a business in Thailand or abroad. They are also required to produce evidence that they have worked in the “targeted industries” for at least 5 of the 10 years prior to applying for apply the visa.
