By the way i have use an agent for the first time in Thailand, not sure i can post the name here ?
Let's say they assist me for Thai visa ???? In Chiang Mai.
It was just a normal extension (refused many times in Chiang Rai and Mae Sai), cost me 3100 so only 1100 extra. VIP service kind of : transport, immediate processing at airport office, took 5mn total no issue at all.
I came on monday afternoon, was short for the next day for appointment, so i got it wednesday.
This agency has an office, look very professionnal and reliable.
And at immigration the guy from agency was obviously in very good terms with IOs, talking and laughing.
I do not know for the 2 months extension, i would suggest to ask this agency.
Someone on this forum has already contacted the agent you recommended. The agent quoted 9000 baht.

The Chinese consulate in Thailand has suspended issuing consular letters since April.
I have heard many foreigners in Chiang Mai IO denied extensions of their tourist visas, Chiang Mai Immigration is very unfriendly and they want foreigners to use agents.

It is a 60 day extension not a visa of any kind.
You only need the normal passport copies and they will have you complete and sign a affidavit. No need for the embassy letter.
Can I go to another city's immigration office because Chiang Mai Immigration denies the extension?

Tourist visa cannot be extended
QuoteChiang Mai has become a new country independent of Thailand and has become completely different from the policies of the Thai Immigration Department. Chiang Mai Immigration still requires a letter from the consulate to extend a tourist visa, and most embassies no longer issue letters.
-
Can I apply for a 60-days visa after November 30, which means the visa will extend until January 30?
Chiang Mai Immigration does not appear to be following the policy of the Bangkok Immigration Department and still requires a consulate letter.
Is it possible to go to Bangkok and apply for a visa extension, as it is half the price than the agent's quote.

I'm not sure why so many struggle with the concept of having to swear and prove that they are unable to depart the kingdom. That's the purpose of this extension IMO, intended for the small minority to which this applies rather than everyone.
I think IOs are going to be told to reign them in when they realise how many are applying.
You don't know Thailand at all, and anyone can easily get any visa extended by paying some tips.

Firstly your thoughts do not speak for the Thai government and secondly I have contacted the General Directorate of Immigration to get definitive information that no consulate letter is needed to allow the extension.
-
I have consulted the Bangkok Immigration Department and you do not need any consulate letter to extend. You can apply for visa extensions at immigration offices in other cities. It is already a fact that Chiang Mai does not comply with the General Directorate of Immigration.

I've been knew that Chiang Mai Immigration refuses to extend visas to foreigners who don't have a consulate letter, but only if you pay extra through an agent will ok.

I went to the Chiang Mai Immigration office promenada yesterday and they refused to renew my visa without consulate letter. But immigration officials said the visa could be extend at the immigration office at the airport without any consulate letter. Anyone experiencing the same situation, please update here!
