  1. Thanks and apologies, i have been away for a few days. I am puzzled because I can reach the VPN server through my computer even when it is connected to the VPN router. So, the signal path goes through both routers without a problem, and then suggests that the AIS router is not the problem. I think I have to go back to ExpressVPN. Best regards, g BTW, I apparently stumped SNB!
  2. I'll check bridge mode, thanks .... and the other forum

  4. Hello all. I have a a separate VPN router (for ExpressVPN) that I have used for years to link my Roku to for USA access. The VPN router goes through the AIS router. This has worked fine until we upgraded the AIS service and received a new AIS router. Now my VPN router cannot access the VPN servers, but can access the normal internet. I have talked to ExpressVPN support but it seems to boil down to the AIS router blocking the other router. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And more importantly, have a workaround? Thanks, g
  5. OK, we are now back in Thailand! Let me recap... Saturday - Took Pre-flight PCR test in Singapore prior to Monday's flight to BKK Monday - Received POSITIVE result! Apparently from residue antigens of Covid from early February. No symptons. Canceled flight booking. Tuesday - We could get Singapore Certificate of Recovery after 7 days and leave Friday. But then would have to apply for a new ThaiPass ????. So we got antigen test from Dr. Ti ((DTAP clinic, highly recommended)). Wednesday - Got antigen results and the Letter of Recovery from him based on the low antigen count, stating that Covid was 6 weeks old and not infectious. Changed SHA+ hotel booking and made flight booking for Thursday. Within 72 hour ThaiPass flexibility limit. Thursday - proceeded to Changi with CoR not up to Thai standards (should show positive Covid test more than 14 days prior), but why not? We were told by Scoot at Changi that we could have boarded plane on Monday with Positive result (??). Anyhow, were not impressed with my Singaporean CoR, and asked if we had anything from February showing we had Covid. Not really, we said. How about a picture, they replied. For some reason I had a picture of two positive ATK tests dated February on my phone - that got us on the plane! little problem with the 72 hour out of date ThaiPass in Bangkok, but not much. BKK Health inspector happy with Singapore CoR, did not look at ATK pic. Hotel took PCR sample upon arrival. Friday - PCR test comes back Negative! <deleted>! We are free to go. Things are changing fast, but my one regret was not going to the airport on Monday with the Positive result and see what happens. Also, if you have had Covid - get a Certificate of Recovery. All good now, already had some Phad See Ew to celebrate. Hope this is useful to somebody....
  6. Border run to Singapore has been expensive because of all the testing, plane, hotel and COL costs. And then we were hit with a positive return pre-flight PCR result because we had Covid 6 weeks ago! Bit of a mess, but was the right choice for us since we now have a chance to revisit Singapore after living here 25 years ago.
  7. Richard Smith - A week ago I wouldn't know what you're talking about, now I now it as the truth!
  8. It looks like we will be returning to Thailand with the use of a Certificate of Recovery (from Covid). As I understand it, we will still have to stay at a SHA+ hotel and take the arrival PCR test (true?). My question is - what happens when that test comes back positive (which is likely)? We are fully vaxxed and boostered, ATKs show negative, and are in good health. It seems like we could be subject to a range of disciplines. But I wonder what others have experienced ...? Have others been forced to go to hospital or is self-quarantining the rule, or? Thanks, George
  9. Yes, I agree that April 1st will not work because we will probaly fail the arrival PCR test.
  10. One additional thing, may be relevant, we have been fully vaxxed and boostered with Moderna.
  11. Thanks for all the feedback. To clear the air, we did not see a doctor 2 months ago when we had Covid as it was mild and the hospitals were full. We did the ATK tests from positive to negative. And, of course, we had the professionally administered ATK pre-flight test and upon arrival self-test here in Singapore. All were negative except the initial tests 2 months ago. BTW, I can get a Certificate of Recovery here in Singapore after only 7 days, but I doubt (?) that Thailand would accept it. Again, if anybody knows an agent, or other professional, who handles these sort of problems please let me know. g
  12. Our border run to Singapore just ran into a big problem in the form of a positive pre-flight PCR-RT test. Warning to all - this is a result of having Covid two months ago and still having Covid antigens in our bodies (If you get Covid then get a Certificate of Recovery). If I read the Thailand Pass rules correctly, we now must wait 14 days (after test) before returning to Thailand. This places us in April of course, and no pre-flight PCR-RT test will be required then. But we want to get back asap. Does anybody know of another way to address this problem, or can you recommend a professional in this field that I can go to??? Thanks, George
  13. Thanks! Just checking, every time I make an assumption on the visa process it seems I get burnt!
  14. We have to make a border run and plan to re-enter the country after a few days. This means we have to start the Thailand Pass/Test and Go process before leaving Thailand. Is that a problem for Immigration? Naturally we don't want to run into problems when returning. Thanks for any/all advice. g
  15. Yes, we've tried an agent and it is as Dr. Jack says - no more 30 day covid extension unless I can get a letter from the US Embassy saying that it is impossible to depart for the States. Not likely. The other option would be for another retirement visa, but the costs and docs for 17 days don't make sense. We could go somewhere (e.g. Cambodia) for the 17 days, but then we would be abandoning our "job" - caring for our granddaughter until April 6th. So the plan now is to fly to Singapore and enter under their VTL plan, get tested again and then return after 2 or 3 days to Thailand under Test and Go program. Lots of tests. And a night in Bangkok Center! Thanks again! (and any comments welcome)
  16. Thanks for the info, it looks like we're off to Singapore for a weekend. Thanks again!
  17. Thanks, I'm not happy about the 17 days but the international arrangements have all been fixed based on an April 6 departure. Very difficult/expensive to change. I'm wondering whether I should just pay the overstay fee, or are there other consequences?
  18. We arrived originally with a non-O visa and have already had one "covid" extension, and are now informed that we cannot get another. Our current covid extension expires on March 20th, and we have plane tickets to leave Thailand for the foreseeable future on April 6th. So, we have a 17 day gap. Can anybody recommend an easy Visa Run? Air travel would not be a problem. We are US citizens with 3 Moderna shots. And what kind of visa? Thanks for any, and all, advice. George
  19. We originally applied for an O-A visa but for some reason were granted a non-immigration O visa. (we didn't realize it at the time, and that caused some reporting problems and $$$, but is another story). The question now is what category of non-O visa extension can we apply for? We can qualify an extension on retirement basis since the docs for the O-A visa had been focused on financial issues. But we also can, and would prefer, to apply on basis of visiting son who has residence permit. Thanks for your help, George
  20. Thanks for the replies, that was what I was hoping to hear.
  21. Well, here is another wrinkle; My multiple entry O visa from 2020 is valid until Nov 30, 2021. Can I enter the country with this visa and then apply for an extension? If so, after how many days? 90 or until the end of validity (Nov 30th)? Thanks again, g
  22. Hi, we (my non-Thai wife and myself} have been coming for approximately 6 months for the last 3 years. This may be the last year. We are visiting my non-Thai son who is a permanent resident and his Thai/USA daughter. Since writing my original note I have spent some time on the Thaievisa site and am now even more confused; - can we apply for a Tourist visa and extend every 60 days? - Can we get an O visa when we don't have Thai national relatives? Thanks, g
  23. We (vaccinated 65+) plan to return to Thailand around Oct 20. We plan to stay for 6 months. I am thinking that O-A is the best visa for this type of stay, or are there any other ideas? We applied for an O-A visa last year but were given a plain O visa unknowingly, which did cause significant problems upon our exit - resulting in 20,000b extension fines ... each. Thanks, g
  24. We want to bring my son's girlfriend to the USA with their 5yo child (US passport) in order to get away from the pandemic for 2 or more months. We would appreciate advice on easiest/fastest route to visas for them. Thanks, g
