Thailand is becoming one of those “adults only” tourist venues.

Thailand will still make their returning astronauts quarantine for 10 days, or just 7 days if they are vaccinated.
-
You and a guest will fly to beautiful Thailand for 10 sun kissed days (7 days if you are vaccinated), enjoying the views, the sun (from your balcony), and tropical breezes (if you open your *window), all while never having to leave the comfort of your hotel room. All this can be yours if the price is right!
*Not all rooms have windows.
Yeah, I know, I keep trotting this post out. And yeah I know Phuket and other places will offer more freedom of movement to vaccinated tourists. But for real, does anyone really believe tourism levels will ever normalize until the quarantine requirement is lifted?

At this point, with so many confusing options and details, they might as well just have a wheel outside Customs, with the options, and then have every arrival spin the wheel.

"Well, Marv, it looks like Sven has 10 days in the scenic ASQ-by-the-bay hotel."

Disagree with that. Most tourists to Phuket would normally stay there for their one or 2 weeks anyway wouldn't they.
As a vaccinated person, id have no problem staying there a week before being allowed to travel elsewhere. That's what I'd be doing anyway.
I don’t think these direct to Phuket tourists that don’t do ASQ will be allowed to travel to other parts of Thailand.

Do they really think that international tourists will come to Thailand just to come to Phuket and not be allowed to come to other parts of Thailand?

Define "reopening." If that means international tourists can go to Phuket without any kind of quarantine, but they still cannot go to other parts of Siam, I really don't think this will work.

Are there any international jet ski pros who are willing to come to Thailand and quarantine for 14 days just so they can compete in a 4 day jet ski world cup? Seriously?

I keep trotting this out. . . (At least changing 2 weeks to 10 days).

14 days reduced to 10 days, this is a good sign.

<Cue game show music> “You and a guest will fly to beautiful Thailand for two sun kissed weeks, enjoying the views, the sun (from your balcony), and tropical breezes (if you open your window), all while never having to leave the comfort of your hotel room. All this can be yours if the price is right!”
At least with this new proposed plan you can actually leave your room.

I flew from China to Thailand with Cathay Pacific last month.
This free Covid insurance will not help you for any visa or COE purpose.
The coverage period is too short.
Extract of the Terms & Conditions for this Covid insurance:
The coverage will be effective once your trip has commenced and is valid for 30 days
or upon your return to your home country*, whichever is earlier.
*Home country: any country/region to which you are granted rights of citizenship or permanent
residence
Thanks for this info, I kind of figured this was the case.
All the best.

I was thinking the same thing. I honestly don't think the Thai government will give 2 cents over what some farang thinks about re-opening the country.

According to their site, Cathay Pacific offers free COVID-19 insurance. They claim that this insurance offers $200,000 in COVID related coverage.
My question, has anyone been able to avail of this insurance for travel in to Bangkok, specifically has this free insurance by Cathay fulfilled the Thai government requirement of having at least $100,000 in health insurance in order to enter Siam?
Feedback please, thanks in advance.

Captain Obvious here, OF COURSE now is not the time for Thailand to be spending this kind of ฿ on this!
